This is their version of a Grinder and so NOT what I expected!
    Steven B.

I was shocked! I thought maybe I had been transported to another planet and aliens were feeding me! Everywhere I've ever been you can order a sub or a hoagie or if you desire you can order a grinder. The cook will take your sub, make sure the cheese is on top, and bake it until the cheese is bubbly and the roll is toasted. That's what I expected here. You can see what I received. I quickly looked around. The aliens were probably taking notes to see if the earthlings could handle the stress before we were conquered. I can't say it was bad, it was just weird. The bread was very thin. Inside was sliced peperoni, crumbled sausage and diced ham along with lots of cheese. It was billed as Italian Meat Supreme but there was nothing supreme about it. BTW- it went for $8. Because it was tasty I'm going to go with three stars. I'll be generous and be back to try the pizza. If I see strange lights swirling above this place I may think again!

Pizzano's wasn't my first choice for pizza, but I'm glad that I expanded my search radius and found them. I stopped in to pick up my pizza and while they do have some seating inside, I got the feeling that it's really a delivery or pickup sort of place, rather than eat in. I got the barbecue pizza with extra onions and green peppers. I kind of misunderstood the special they were offering on three topping pizza for a fixed price. The pizza was still hot when I got it back to the hotel room. A little doughy and wasn't easy to pick up and eat likely because of the extra toppings. Or maybe they didn't bake it as long as usual because I was sitting there waiting for it? Anyway, it still had a decent flavor and I enjoyed it.

We asked our hotel desk clerk where the best pizza in town is, and they unflinchingly responded "Pizzano's". It appears to be primarily a take-away restaurant. On a Friday evening they were doing a brisk take-away business. We decided, however, to dine in. The ambiance of the dine-in area is that of a take-away restaurant that added tables for the few dine-in customers. The area is small with two booths and table space for 22. The table and counter service was friendly and invitingly. So on to the pizza. In our vast experience (seriously) of visiting pizza joints on Fridays, we would rate our large pizza with peppers, onions, olives and Italian sausage in the 80 percentile. It had a very good flavor, equal amounts and distribution of toppings. We have no other pizza experience in Sebring, so this is a very safe bet if you're also passing through. Especially if you're a take-away customer. Even if the interior ambiance is lacking, if the bottomline is the quality of the pizza, then you've also found the right place.

Visiting Sebring and went here for a quick dinner. My parents said they'd been here before, usually for take out. They said they have carryout for $5. #1. I ordered a half and half, they said no problem. I ordered half pepperoni and half chicken parmesan with alfredo sauce. The old guy at the counter didnt know how to write down my order. We ordered a large pizza, 1 soda ($1.49 ) and it came to $17.99. Then we added 2 more sodas and all of a sudden it came to $24.14. Sodas are 1.49 each.....do the gut didnt know how to add. Then we get the pizza, they put alfredo sauce all over the pizza, not on the half with the chicken. Duh!. I was very specific. I went up to the counter and repeated my order and I told the guy what he did wrong. He said he didnt write it down that way. I said, no kidding....the other older gentleman, the cook, offered to make us another pizza, but I said we didn't have time for that. We just wanted our money back. The older guy started to argue with me. My mom said she would take it up with the owner....if you order pizza from here, speak slowly and clearly, make sure you are VERY specific. Ask them to repeat back what you said.....and thier thin crust isn't thin, more like hand tossed. On the other hand. The chicken parmesan with alfredo sauce wasn't bad. But whoever's heard of pepperoni pizza with alfredo sauce....p.s. also ask them to put the pepperoni on top. That easy you can see how many pieces you get. Kind of skimpy...

This is one of the finest Italian/Pizza/Sub shops in the area and I've never talked about their awesome cheesesteak! This review rectifies this. Customer Service- So I blew into order my cheesesteak to-go. The young lady at the counter was a little chatty as I am and just fine. It took me maybe two minutes and my sammich was out in about five more. No choice but five stars! Food- So they bake their own rolls here which is a big plus. The gold standard for cheesesteak is an Amoroso roll from the Philadelphia area. These are not that but very good. There was plenty of tender meat with no fatty pieces. Good stuff! Here they add peppers onions & mushrooms, and I have no problem with that, and they were tasty. They use White American cheese, and it was tasty and there was plenty of it. Now for something weird and wonderful. A couple of years ago a good friend asked me to try adding pepperoni to my cheesesteak. I did and it was awesome! I've been doing it ever since and this time it costs me an extra buck. The basic sandwich is $11.99. I brought this bad boy home, and you can see my picture. It was an excellent filling cheesesteak, and I love supporting a local business. Five stars!

But, every once in a while, even a guy like me wants to order a delivery pizza. At first, I was told, "no" they would not delivered to me. Because I am 1 mile outside of their radius. The young guy I spoke with recommended instead that I called Lake Placid Papa John's which is ridiculous because I'm exactly 30 seconds south of Highway 98. I think the guy was just trying to pass the buck. However, I called Lake Placid and they also said I was outside their delivery radius and that made a lot more sense to me because it would be like calling Denver, Colorado and asking for a pizza to be delivered to Florida. So what do you do? I ended up calling the Sebring location back and asked for the manager. I got Lexi on the phone. That was the manager's name. She was a young lady, but she seemed intelligent and open minded, because when I explain the circumstances to her she said, "yeah that is ridiculous" I also explain to Lexi about how much money they were losing out on because they were not willing to extend their delivery radius to the entire Sebring area. They were missing out on business from all of the people south of HCA hospital now if you think about it that's a lot of people and a lot of money to be missing out on. The radius gap between the Sebring delivery area and the Lake Placid delivery area does not touch. This means there is a huge gap where they are missing all of the Spring Lake and all of the people who live just off Highway 66. Ridiculous! I mean, if I'm a business owner and I have a pizza business, I'm gonna make sure that I cover the entire Sebring area because I'm not about to miss out on money from people because of a 1 mile extra driving radius. Lexi went on to explain to me that she was going to go ahead and allow the delivery, but she also told me that she could not guarantee that every manager would make the same choice at Papa John's. I agreed that that was likely to happen and I understood. Now the pizza: there are a lot of pizzas in this town and a lot of these guys who make them are from New York City so you're not missing out on good quality pizza here in Sebring. I will say that most of the time the sauce is very acidic no matter where you go. Papa John's sauce, which I have not had in sometime, at least 20 years has a definite sweetness. It had a good aroma, and while not punched with herbs it did satisfy the palate in a balanced way. I enjoy the sweetness that they have in their sauce whether they slow cook the onions or just added a little sweetener to the sauce. both are fine it's a matter of taste. Italians will choose one or the other. They all typically use their onions to gain this type of exposure in the flavor by a quick sear and sauté of the onions to gain a bolder aroma, or a slow cook of the onions in order to sweeten them. We ordered the new New York style pizza, and while there is not a consistency in the two pizzas we received the first one was more New York style in the crust. Well, the second one was denser and the crust endings were not equal in size, thickness, or make, but for a commercial pizza, it filled the stomach. In this review, I am complementing the manager more than anything for her ability to deliver to us. You often do not see this in commercial businesses. They are usually very stoic and black-and-white on their terms. For Lexi to think outside the box and be willing to make a personal judgment was appreciated. She was a good manager, and she is being recognized for that purpose. You hardly see this ever so kudos to you Lexi, and thank you for being a good manager!

By the time our friendly waitress came to take our order, I was ready to follow Steven's advice and try one of their pizzas. It did not take long before a small pie arrived, generously topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and onions. The flavors were spot on, and with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a little kick, it was perfect. I enjoyed it so much that while we spent the next 20 minutes chatting about travel, Yelp, and my sprinter van, I looked down to find I had polished off the entire pizza without even realizing it.
