The business was very quiet a little after noon but they had…read moreplenty of employees standing by because the number of diners really picked up before we were done with our meal - and no wonder! We received very attentive service from our server Sonya and the pizzas we ordered were superb. Their chicken-cheddar-ranch pizza is something I have not seen anywhere else. It came loaded with cheese, tomatoes, and chunks of white meat chicken - the crust was delicious, as well. The Greek pizza was also generously topped with feta, tomatoes, spinach, and cheese. I was also very happy to see that the Greek pizza comes with Kalamata olives, rather than black olives, making it a more authentic Greek pizza in my opinion. The "small" 12-inch pizzas were each more than enough to feed two people. My glass of soft drink was never allowed to get more than half empty before our server was back to refill it for me. Sals's gave us a terrific lunch experience.the

How this place is still in business when Papa Johns is right down the road is a complete mystery to…read moreme. We had family in from out of town and ordered a range of items, from pizza to pasta, and some chicken wings. Everything was bad. Not as in spoiled, but as in horrible quality: The pizza crust was hard on the bottom and chewy (not in a good way), with bizarrely sweet pizza sauce, flavorless pepperoni, and plastic cheese (which is weird, because plastic melts and this cheese definitely doesn't). The pasta was both undercooked and overcooked, something I didn't know was physically possible; there were sections where the dish had chewy noodles, and spots where it was complete mush. The size of the wings was laughably small, like something you'd get off a quail. They were the standard pre-breaded/fried & reheated ones you'd see at any fast food restaurant ... except they were barely room temperature when the order arrived. We would literally have gotten better food for WAAAAY less money if we'd driven around the corner to Food Lion and grabbed stuff from the frozen aisle. Which is what we will do in the future. Lesson learned. Won't ever go back to this place again.

I placed an online order for 4 pizzas and wings to be picked up within an hour. When I got here,…read morethey just had the wings. I had to wait an additional 45 minutes. They forgot some sauces that I ordered. They were severely disorganized in the kitchen with many other people waiting for door dash orders and take out orders. Very disappointed that other people got there food significantly faster then me. You would think being a "fast food pizza" place you'd get your food relatively quickly.

First time here for dinner and it did Not disappoint, didn't think dinner could to lunch but it did. It was busier too and service was excellent and food still amazing and didn't take forever either. Can you say WINNING!! I had their fettuccine chicken Alfredo for the first time and it was rather tasty. Typically I add broccoli, but I didn't and it was still yummy. My daughter actually got my usual the baked ziti which she enjoyed and I ordered a to go one to take home to my bottomless pit son and youngest daughter too. We opted for no desserts because we were just too full but think I'll have to make a return trip just for dessert one day because those looked yummy as well!! It wasn't too noisy at night, but definitely a tad louder than during the day but to be expected on a busy holiday weekend. Parking is ample in this shopping center so no worries here on that. Come check them out you will leave satisfied.

I asked for sparkling water and was immediately asked if I'd like to split it. Since the menu doesn't indicate that it's served as a one-liter bottle, the question caught me off guard. Three coworkers and I agreed to share it. The problem was actually getting the water. Everyone else received their drinks while we waited. We had to ask three separate times before it finally arrived, nearly 20 minutes later. By then, we were all thirsty, and splitting a single bottle meant each of us got barely half a glass. As for the food, I ordered the lunch special: penne with chicken and broccoli. I managed only a few bites before giving up. The dish was swimming in grease, which completely overpowered any other flavor. It tasted unseasoned and lacked any real depth. A coworker offered me a slice of his stromboli, but unfortunately it wasn't much better. The vegetables were undercooked, and the overall flavor was bland. Between the slow service, confusing drink situation, and disappointing food, this was not a place I'd return to or recommend

Trust the over 250 solid reviews on here praising this place and ignore the 10 disgruntled folks…read morewho clearly suffer from Karen/kevin syndrome. This is THE spot for locals in the Portsmouth area. It's no surprise you see reviews from patrons who drive from all over the Hampton Roads area to visit this gem! Service is so friendly and you can tell it is a TEAM! I sat at the bar so got to watch the open kitchen in action. Their system is down pat and you can tell everyone enjoys working with each other. Each dish I watched from prep to service was handled with meticulous care. PRIDE IN WORK AT ITS FINEST! Everyone works to serve you as a team as well, no worry about "bothering" another member of the staff for something, everyone wants you to enjoy your meal. I can tell there are a lot of local regulars as the staff was engaged on a level you only see when your clientele is consistent and have a vested interest in the success of the business. I've been to 16 countries and travelled all over the states, this is truly one of the most friendly establishments I've had the pleasure of being hosted at. On to the food! I see a few people complain about the small menu, that is the SMARTEST thing a business can do. Focus on what you're good at and demolish the competition. High Street Pizza and Pour delivers on this. My eyes were bigger than my stomach so I ordered the meatballs, the special for their pizza pie of the night (a pork belly, red onion, jalapeño, bbq drizzle dream boat of a pie), a tiramisu and two cocktails. The food in pictures looked smaller than in person... omg I ordered for about 4-5 people! But everyone was soooo good. Meatballs were tender with a fantastic red sauce. Pizza had a crispy buttery crust and the pork belly was rendered perfectly. Tiramisu was fantastic (not sure if that's an in house make or pre done, but it was on point), and the cocktails were perfectly poured with just the right amount of liquor. I left with probably two meals worth of takeout the portions were so large and I can't wait until I'm hungry again. I'm new to the neighborhood and as everyone knows, you need to find your fav local spot to frequent. I'm proud to report, High Street Pizza and Pour House has just taken that spot!

It's my own fault. Being a vegan in a world where eateries are not always vegan friendly, I have to…read moredo a lot of research before I even go to a restaurant. And I didn't do enough research about High Street Pizza, I guess. I always check the menu before I even leave the house when going out to eat. I look for vegan friendly items, and sometimes I call to confirm. The exception is PIZZA. Whenever my not-vegan husband and I decide on pizza, I already know I can customize any pizza with veggies instead of meat and cheese. It was date night Thursday, and High Street Pizza had awesome reviews. I did the "vegan thing" and checked the menu first. I found a lot of vegetable toppings, so I knew I could craft a pizza to my liking. We drove from Va Beach to Portsmouth for dinner. I learned that I cannot craft a pizza with no meat and cheese because High Street Pizza will not make a pizza without cheese. I had no idea you can't just take cheese off of pizza. I do it all the time at other pizza places, but the pizza here must be constructed with cheese. I was told I could get vegan cheese, but I didn't want that. Option 2-order a salad. I opted for the Greek Salad, hold the feta. And since the menu said it came with a red wine vinaigrette dressing, I could eat that instead. After placing our orders, the waitress returned and informed me the red wine vinaigrette was made with mayonnaise at High Street Pizza. The very name of the dressing is a list of the ingredients: Red wine Vinegar How does MAYONNAISE get in there? I even Googled it to make sure I wasn't getting it confused: extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, mustard, oregano, and salt Of course, the dressing can be altered to be "creamy". And yes, there is a CREAMY red wine vinaigrette. But that's not what the menu said. High Street Pizza listed the dressing as just "red wine vinaigrette." I didn't eat anything that evening, but my husband loved every morsel of his sausage and mushroom pie, however. He even said it was one of the best pizzas he ever had! In their defense, High Street Pizza doesn't tout themselves as a vegan friendly restaurant. I am not disappointed about the pizza because my choice not to eat vegan cheese is my preference. They tried to offer an alternative, I chose not to opt for the cheese alternative. Consider listing your salad dressing as "creamy red wine vinaigrette" though. It makes a huge difference leaving the word out.
