This place is five stars all day. The bagels are the closest thing to New York bagels I've found in Oregon to date. Can't speak to the quality of the rest of their items as I've yet to try them but bagel is in there name and those are fantastic! PS they have an amazing slicing machine and they're happy to pre-slice your bagels for you. It's fast and perfect if you get extra to freeze. Bakers dozen is the best deal. read more

So far I've been back a couple times. Still ordering my Lox bagel, as of just yesterday 6.15. Which had some brown edges on a couple pieces. So I pulled the pieces I saw and one that was hidden in the middle of my sandwich. Still a good sandwich. But will be checking it. They still didn't have the apple bar YET AGAIN.!!!! Definitely hit and miss. So I check before going. On another note. When I was there ordering , they said what was in the case is all they had. But I heard a lady after us order onion bagel and it wasn't up in the case. Go figure. It's a cute lil place tho near the neighborhood. Kind of hidden I guess. I'll take a photo next time. read more

Bagel and Switch - Picking your pocket $.75 a bagel. This morning I was so excited to back in town and couldn't wait to grab a bagel and bacon smear! The price listed on the menu is $4.50 but when rung up it was $5.25 - I asked why when the menu sign displayed $4.50 and was specifically called out the price...the young cashier rolled her eyes and went to another worker who repeated what ever the register was displaying and kept saying it's an extra charge for bacon smear. I then point again to the menu that is boldly displayed behind the counter and said look and the second listings it calls out bacon smear for $4.50. She continued to say it's an extra charge but it's clearly not. After going around about this couple times she then said they raised prices but don't have a new sign - uuuhhh isn't that illegal? Isn't this bait and switch and illegal to publicly display prices and then charge whatever at the register!!! Even their active online order site is currently displaying $4.50. The young workers held tight that the prices went up and that's the price although when explained that it's illegal to have a prices clearly displayed and also on online one price but then asked to a higher price. Watch your pockets they are baiting and switching you - this isn't a new store and has been well established they know better than to intentionally raise prices without updating their menus, both in store and online!!! I know you saying it's only $0.75 but where do you draw the line? It adds up quickly 6x is $4.50 and a dozen is $9!!! read more

I've been coming here off and on since they opened (I like supporting local business). This morning I was treated so rudely by the one employee in an empty shop that I won't be back. The bagels here are good but not good enough to be treated poorly. Bear with me - following is what happened (posted to Messenger on their FB site): I just left your shop because you have an unfortunately rude employee, Carrie/Carey. Granted, I'm a "morning person" but most folks are pretty receptive to a happy smile. I walked into an empty shop, said "good morning!" then beckoned with my hand to her and said "let's get some bagels!" (Writing the words doesn't translate very well - but it was upbeat.) She stood at the register staring at me. Awkward silence....then I said "I'm here for bagels.....?" And she said "okay, that's better." I said "I'm sorry?" She said "next time maybe you should ask that way." I left after asking her name. Is this a big deal? Maybe not. But it was deflating. She said as I was leaving a chipper "BYE!" I don't come in frequently but when I do I usually buy for my entire firm downtown. I will not be back. read more

Smoked salt bagel! Never heard of it so I had to try it. It was a subtle twist on my already favorite bagel flavor. If you're in the mood for a bagel that's the one to try. I'm not a fan of bagels. One time I had one of their bagels and it was surprisingly good. Tender and a little chewy... I guess I'm used to store bought chewy rocks called "bagels." In any case, I have bought a few items from here. Only a few I say, because their hours make it really difficult for me to ever make it in. Tuesdays are the only day that I have off work that they're also open, otherwise I start work before they open and am off after they close. Last Tuesday my boyfriend and I tried to go in around 12:30 to get him a bagel sandwich, a thing he is fond of consuming. There were two people in the queue ahead of us and it was clearly a "sorry we're pretty much out of everything except cinnamon raisin and a few other types of bagels that no one wants *shrug*" kind of deal. So we turned and left. That makes me incredibly hesitant to come back. If I don't know whether you're going to have anything I may want to eat on any given day, I'm probably not going to waste my time driving over to find out. I have in the past tried their bagels dogs (pretty good, juicy 'dog', maybe a bit too much salt on the bagel), biscuits and sausage gravy (I really liked it, my boyfriend didn't as much), and bagel sandwiches. It definitely seems that this is a popular local joint though, not hurting for business at all. They do market themselves well, I guess. read more

The good that the addition of Scappoose Bagel has done to the overall culinary quality of Scappoose cannot be understated. Now, rather than just the overly heavy traditional American breakfast fare to which those dining out in the morning were limited to, residents and visitors alike can enjoy a fresh-from-the-oven selection of tasty bagels and schmeers with their morning java - a treat formerly only available to those closer to the metropolis. I have become particularly fond of (oh who am I kidding - I'd quite possibly kill for) their onion bagels, toasted to a golden brown, and lavishly schmeered with their delicious cream cheese, dill, and smoked salmon spread. However this is not to discount the toothsomeness of their garlic, their smoked salt, and their good old fashioned plain bagels - all regular selections for me. And if I'm honest, most any bagel you choose from their selection will quite likely be one of the best bagels you've ever eaten. read more

I make sure to include Scappoose Bagel on any long ride I take through the area. Stopped there on the way to the CZ Trail yesterday. They never fail to offer an amazing experience. It was cold and drizzly outside, but so inviting in the shop. The three folks that I interacted with there were beyond kind and hospitable. I finally cracked into my everything bagel with bacon jam somewhere around Pisgah and it was a godsend. Kept my damp spirits up for the remainder of the ride back. One 5 star experience, one 1 star. Second review: Boo. Not nearly as great as my first drop in. I went in with the intention of having a bagel there while doing some homework and taking some bagels to go. Nope nope nope. Basically I was told that I either had a prepared bagel for there or to go bagels but not both. I really didn't understand that. When I asked what they meant, and had to pause to process that one, I got some snark in return. It was odd and unpleasant. I guess they didn't like being asked a question, either, because then they rang up the large group behind me before ringing up my order so I waited. There was definitely a bit more humanity and a mini-apology later, which I appreciated but still, it didn't end up being an environment where I wanted to sit. I'd been looking forward to dropping in and yet this wasn't an enjoyable experience at all. There was a hair on the bagel they finally deigned to slice for me. I wasn't fussed about it but if this was my first experience I would not be back. That said, the bagels are good and the space (minus the attitude) is inviting. I'm open to thinking I caught them on a bad day and trying again. First review: Great little spot! Nice staff, cute interior, fair prices, huge selection and most importantly, yummy bagels. Yum! The bagel's are fresh, warm, and ready to eat. I would highly recommend letting them know if you prefer light spread because a normal bagel has quite a bit on it. Try their other sweets like the marionberry roll or their various breads, you won't regret it! read more

Great place to grab a cup of coffee and a really good bagel. I have a few favorites but I must say that their Lox is some of the freshest I've had. You have the option to order it with a tomato, onion and caspers. I say go for it, you won't regret it. read more

They claim they are open on Saturday's and yet here I am walking up to their door at 11am with a couple more people walking up and they are "closed today" according to a sign in the window. This is now the 3rd time I've come here since middle of January on a Saturday and they are closed, despite their hours online and on the door say it's open 7am to 2pm. The bagels are great but if they can't be open at the posted times then I guess I have to go have breakfast elsewhere. A pleasant surprise for Scappoose. New York style bagels that are very good. You can enjoy a bagel and coffee in the shop or get it to go. The prices are very reasonable the service is very good. They are also very community oriented. I know of one couple that comes out from Portland on Saturdays because their bagels are better than anything they could find in Portland! read more
