Lydia J was absolutely fabulous! I've been in the hospitality industry for decades, and I can recognize someone that has the aptitude, but also truly cares about their guests. She was prompt on taking our orders, and gave us the time we needed to make our decisions. She was knowledgeable about the menu and answered all our questions. She did the magical thing only a true professional can do..she was there when we needed her, but didn't need to hover and invade our space. Beautiful view. If that's what you want then I recommend you skip Crab Trap and just go see the water. The restaurant has a great view. I'll give it 1 star for that. However, service and food here today was not good. Cold fries, soggy shrimp, fish that tasted strong, and the server did not want to be there. We were not even asked if we wanted a beverage other than water. We just wanted a soda. I would keep looking elsewhere. read more

There was no wait the day we went! Immediately sat next to an open window that overlooks the beach. It was a beautiful view. The food was delicious! My only complaint is that I was shocked at the portion of crab claws. I haven't been here in years, but I remembered a larger portion size? Crap Trap was hands down one of the best dining experiences we had in Destin! And let me tell y'all about TOM -- because that man deserves a raise, a trophy, and probably his own restaurant! Tom was AMAZING from start to finish. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made us feel welcomed. You can tell when someone actually enjoys taking care of their customers, and Tom absolutely does. He went above and beyond and made our experience even better! And the FOOD?! Absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were HUGE. We definitely got our money's worth and had plenty to enjoy later. You will NOT leave this place hungry! Started a a couple drinks and the hot crab dip - both were delectable! The server never rushed us and allowed us to order when ready - love that! Ordered a bit off menu and the substitution was not only extremely reasonable, it made the dish better and was accommodated with aplomb. Would definitely frequent again when in the area. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the breeze from the sea, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. We started by sharing the Smoked Tuna Dip as an appetizer. Just like many other Yelp reviewers mentioned, we loved it. The restaurant served it with crackers, but cucumbers are available upon request. The tuna had a rich smoky flavor, and each bite made you want to go back for more. For the main dish, we ordered the Snow Crab Legs, which came with 1 1/2 pounds of crab along with corn and new potatoes. The crab was fresh and packed with sweet, tender meat. It does take some time to crack and pull out all the meat, but it is absolutely worth the effort. All I can say is Delish! Our waitress Alo was the best we have had in Destin! She is very attentive and makes you feel like you are family. The food was so delicious. Our granddaughter had the snow crab legs, an abundance of yumminess. We also had the cajun chicken pasta, the seafood platter, boiled shrimp, and kids chicken fingers. The restaurant was decorated with the usual sea creatures but very tastefully done. I totally recommend this place. A helpful hint: go early and no wait. read more

We ate here twice when we came to Destin if that tells you anything. First time we came we had the Cobia fish meal. All of it was delicious. The second time for dinner we had their crab plate and it lived up to its name "The Crab Trap". We will absolutely be coming back for some crab next time we're in town! I ordered the Catch of the Day, which was bronzed amberjack, served with potatoes and steamed vegetables. The fish was flavorful, the vegetables were steamed perfectly, and the potatoes were soft and delicious. I also tried the gumbo with rice. The rice was a little more al dente than I expected, but the gumbo itself was rich, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. The customer service was great from start to finish. Overall, it was a really enjoyable dining experience, and I'd definitely come back. read more

Gladly our server was prompt and friendly. We ordered raw oysters, they were fresh and good. Seafood gumbo (bowl) - it was good but the portion is little. Fried calamari, Fried red snapper and jumbo shrimps, fried fish fingers - thick batters and dry. Stream snow crab and shrimps (for two) - portion is okay but not outstanding. Yeahhh, not the best experience. We went and were told 1 hour wait, "we'll text you" at over an hour my husband went to check and Wah-La the text came through & there were open tables all around. My youngest and I shared the crab legs bc I wasn't very hungry, I'm glad we did bc at almost $60 for 1 1/2 lbs it was cold and wouldn't have been able to eat 3 lbs. My oldest daughter couldn't eat the shrimp bc again, cold and also bland. I'm giving 3 stars bc my husband enjoyed his steak but it was about 4 ounces... anyways, I'm sure someone else had an amazing experience but we didn't. I'm normally a 5 star review kind of gal and leave the negative to others but this was way too expensive to have such a blah experience. read more

This is a really big restaurant but you will still wait a good amount of time to sit. They make waiting pretty comfortable with a nice outdoor bar area, fans, and a beach area with corn hole and other games. My daughter and I shared the snow crab legs and gulf shrimp. The shrimp was peel and eat which was kind of annoying. The crab legs weren't pre-cracked and some parts were tough to crack so we had a lot of shreds instead of full pieces of meat. The shrimp were huge and pretty tasty. They served them with plastic tubs of cocktail sauce with foil lids and it was VERY hot. The boiled potatoes were good, especially dipped in the clarified butter, but the corn was tough. My other daughter got filet medallions with the mixed vegetables and the broccoli was GROSS! Super bitter and just inedible. She liked her filet medallions but spent 20 minutes in the bathroom before we left so not sure if we would order again. I feel like most of the big seafood places in Destin/Miramar are overrated. I probably wouldn't go again. read more

She never asked if we would like beverages and appeared uninterested in providing even basic customer service. As a family visiting on vacation, we were looking forward to enjoying a pleasant meal together, but the service made us feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, the food was also served cold, which only added to our disappointment. Between the poor service and the quality of the meal, what should have been an enjoyable family experience was overshadowed by a lack of attention and care. I just love this place. We came here on our recent vacation. We started with the crab/shrimp dip and it was incredible. I joked that I wanted to drink it because it was so good. I ordered the shrimp po boy and it came with the sauce on the side, which I liked because I could put however much I wanted on it. The fries were great, too! My husband ordered the fried shrimp. Plenty of food and huge portions. We both got drinks, too. My Bacardi bucket was delicious and so was his crab trap punch. We only waited about 5 minutes for a table and our waiter was friendly and food came out quick. read more

Had date night with my wife here. Knowing it was the busy season we were not expecting much. Parking is hit or miss but we got a spot. Got to the hostess and we were told about a 30 minute wait.
