We love stopping at Dom's Coffee when we are in the Avon area for their unique coffee drinks. Dom's also serves up many delicious baked goods from large cinnamon rolls to savory scones and breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The shop is cozy with additional outdoor seating during the nice weather. It's always crowded, but the line does move fairly quickly. There is hardly seating available especially early morning and prime lunch time. We usually take our things to-go. One of the things that makes Dom's Coffee stand out is their Charcoal Mocha. It's so delicious and the color is beautiful, perfect for a Halloween/fall treat. The mocha has a rich, but there is a hint of coconut flavor--you don't actually taste the charcoal. Another thing that I like is their tea selection and season tea drinks. During my last visit, I had an Apple Pie Chai which paired well with my Pumpkin Scone. My all time favorite was their Blackberry Mint Chai in the spring. I loved how unique it was and the flavors really worked! My dad really loved their grilled cheese sandwich. It had Swiss, cheddar cheese and he added tomatoes. He says that Dom's makes the best grilled cheese which doesn't surprise me because of the Dom's Cheese shop that is located with the coffee shop. For a coffee shop I thought everything was made super fast considering how busy they were! My latte was ready before I had time to look around for a seat! Cool shop with lots of areas to meet up with friends or to get some work done solo. The weather was still warm so we enjoyed the outdoor patio which had a nice tropical vibe. I was excited to try this place out due to all the rave reviews and driving by it all the time. I can see the hype! The place was packed even on a Monday around noon. There was outdoor and indoor seating; the cafe had beautiful decor and your typical coffee shop atmosphere. There was a line but it wasn't too bad of a wait. The parking lot was big and full but we found a spot with no problem. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered myself an iced maple latte ($5.30); the perfect sweetness and flavor. My husband had their large cold brew ($4.50) and he said it was great (he's a cold brew connoisseur). We also tried out their cranberry and cream cheese frosting scone ($5.75) and a couple of large chocolate cookies ($4); those were fresh and tasty. However, three stars because the bad bagel stands out like a sore thumb (it was literally wet). And because if you order ahead of time you have to wait in the insanely long line that's always here to tell the cashier you ordered ahead. I've driven by Dom's Coffee multiple times and have always said "hmm, I need to give them a try" and so today was that day. I was impressed by the cozy indoor and outdoor seating and dug the whole coffee house vibe. I was excited to try some good coffee and I was not disappointed. I tried the seasonal blackberry cardamom latte and it was amazing. I don't normally do lattes and this one was delicious. You immediately get the blackberry finished off with the cardamom for a smooth finish. I also saw that they do sandwiches and pastries as well and though I didn't have time to try them, what I saw had me curious to return. There is ample parking in the back which is very convenient. Love this coffee place and we realized it had been way too long since we made a visit. There are very few coffee shops around the area that are open until 5 pm on a Saturday. We were able to find seating in one of three rooms with seating. Love how there are always a vase of fresh flowers on the tables. I loved this coffee shop. There is plenty of free parking. The interior is beautiful and has multiple spaces, including indoor and outdoor, with seating. The coffee was great (I got the blackberry lavender latte, a seasonal, and my brother got an iced mocha). The pastries are not too sweet (got a raspberry turnover). There are also premade food and snacks, like bars, that are good for toddlers. Speaking of toddlers, the bathroom also has a changing table! I've been working my way through all the CT coffee places people rave about. Recently, I visited Dom's in Avon for the first time. Dom's is located in a large white house-type building on Route 44. The inside was very nice, as I have heard. On the coffee-side of the business, they have cool products including: (1) coffee beans from nationally respected roasters such as Onyx and Tandem, and beans from CT's own J Rene; (2) OMG gourmet pretzel nuggets; (3) chocolates; (4) high end dog treats; and (5) fresh baked goods. I am a black iced coffee drinker, and Dom's offered a black cold brew made with a J Rene blend. It was pretty good, but didn't really match my preferred flavor profiles for iced coffee. I'm ideally looking for a bright coffee with some fruit notes. The J Rene blend had a darker flavor profile than I prefer. It seemed like it probably came from Central America and/or South America. The coffee lacked my favorite attributes of those coffees as well, but again, it was pretty good and balanced. If I was scoring Dom's just on a black cold brew, I'd have to give them a 4. However, I've been holding back. Dom's has a Cheese Shop with an outstanding selection of cheeses! This curve ball, along with the cool atmosphere and good service, is enough to push Dom's up to the 5 Star range for me. Ah, the infamous Dom's Coffee! So happy we were in Avon and could finally try this popular coffee shop. The reviews don't lie...a truly beautiful interior. I wish I lived closer because I would 150% come here to read, work, or catch up with friends over a delicious coffee. We were in a bit of a rush by the time we arrived so I wished we had to more to talk to the staff and see what they recommended, but we went with two lattes...hot & iced. One caramel, one hazlenut. Very good!! They have a ton of syrups to choose from and I wished I experimented with some combos instead of playing it safe with caramel. They also had a bunch of pastries to choose from, along with a cheese shop. So cool! This is definitely a spot to sit and enjoy your coffee. Taking ours to go was a shame but we'll be back! Dom's Coffee is such a gem in Avon. They make such divine coffee, and the interior is so beautiful. I only went inside for the first time a few days ago. During the beginning of Covid, you could get a coffee, at their ordering window, and have it outside. You'll get a whole new perspective by going inside. It was pretty busy when I was there, each table had a little bouquet of fresh flowers on it. The tables are beautiful, something I'd like to have in my house. There is so much design detail, and love that so obviously went into creating this space. I got their Harvest Latte. It actually came in a proper cup and saucer, because I was staying inside. It came with a beautiful design on top. I had my my latte at a bar stool by the window. This is where a few people were working on their computers. My latte was so tasty, and so creamy. I can truly say the best I've had anywhere. And that's not just because of the lovely presentation and the beautiful setting. It was sweet just enough, with undertones of maple. I was here by myself. The salad is excellent, light dressing and it's nice to have tuna tossed with dressing vs. mayonnaise. A unique version. I usually get a honey latté their signature drink. Dom's is a gourmet café, specialty cheese and charcuterie shop, and European-style creamery that opened in Avon, Connecticut in May 2015. It was founded by husband and wife Andrius Plankis and Asta Plankiene. The couple are Lithuanian immigrants who came to Connecticut to be closer to Plankis' mother. They then decided to open their own European-style café and name it after their son Dominic. In the United States, most people purchase coffee from a coffeehouse and then drink it on the go. In Europe, most people drink their coffee in the coffeehouse and engage in friendly conversations with the other customers. Following the success of their gourmet coffee drinks, Plankis and Plankiene opened Dom's Cheese in the same building in December 2017. This new division of the business focused on selling high-end cheeses and other fancy ingredients used for making charcuterie. The latest division, Dom's Creamery, opened next door to the café in May 2022 and focuses on gourmet ice cream. I was recently invited to attend an "Influencer Night" at the three Dom's businesses. First, all attendees convened at the café where we were treated to an enormous charcuterie spread that featured fresh fruit, artisanal cheeses, crackers, baked goods, and finger food such as their Salmon Croissant and Egg Salad Croissant. For drinks, attendees had a choice of Espresso Martini, Bailey's Hot Chocolate or Spiked Apple Cider. I chose the latter and it really hit the spot. After the first hour, everyone walked over to the creamery where we could sample any ice cream flavor. I ended up getting two of my favorites: a scoop of Pumpkin Pie and a scoop of Mint Chip in a Waffle Cup. It was excellent! We also were able to sample some delicious hors d'oeuvres such as their Caprese Crepes and Cuban Sandwich Crepes. This was an event for the ages! Depending on when you go though, it can be nice and quiet, peaceful if you're looking to do work. But recently during the weekdays it's been very loud, so totally fine if you're socializing but not rly the best if you're looking for a place to hunker down and do work. Best coffee shop in the area, maybe even the state! I have literally been here 100+ times. The workers know my order The shop is absolutely gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing. Theres cute tables and seats that do fill up fast on certain days, but they have a large patio in the summer too. The coffee is real coffee, if you know- you know. The only place I like to compare it to is Perk on Main (or on Church) in Middletown, because it's just that much better than most other places. I like to imagine it was brewed in a sacred vat by an Amazon tribe untouched by the modern world. Because why not? It wouldn't surprise me. Dom's just has that x-factor that I can't and won't try to define. And strangely, Dom's selling beer just adds to that. Walking into Dom's feels like it should every time you get coffee. There's a big table in the main room where you order. A side room with tables and a bar is off to the side. Pastries that frankly increase my heart rate higher than they should are stacked on the side of the counter before you get to the cashier to order. The staff makes everything fast but with serious love. I always get the turkey, scrambled egg and tomato bagel sandwich with a cappuccino, and I highly recommend both.
