Nothing like starting the morning with a good cup of coffee from @garage_coffee_lounge The Garage Coffee Lounge is not only just a wonderful place to socialize, take classes and dance--it's also the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee during their opening hours! Taki, the coffee head barista, did an amazing job with my latte. Not only was it delicious, but the coffee art was on point! Truly an artist. I've already been twice! They also offer a selection of sweet bites and empanadas, all freshly made daily by Borinquén Bakery New Britain. If you haven't tried them yet, now's the time! Check it out if you can--it definitely won't be my last visit! Coffee Lounge Hours: Mon: Closed Tue: 7 AM - 2 PM | 3 PM - 8 PM Wed: 7 AM - 2 PM Thu: 7 AM - 2 PM | 3 PM - 8 PM Fri: 7 AM - 2 PM | 3 PM - 8 PM Sat: 8 AM - 3 PM Sun: Closed Always check in case there are any changes!

Drove out of my way to visit my favorite barista, Taki and I'm so happy I did! The ambiance of his new coffee spot that is inside a dance studio is so cool! The decor of sensual red colors is very chic. There's the open dance floor with mirrors all around. Around the dance floor are tables where you can chat it up over coffee, tea or other light bites. Taki makes the best 10 spice chai latte! He also makes homemade syrups for flavoring. While you're there on a quiet morning or afternoon, Taki will have a nice conversation with you. He's super chill, personable and knows his coffee. I always go for the latte because I love seeing his latte art. His prices are super affordable. It is near CCSU and other businesses on a main road and very easy to get to. There's a private parking lot and it's ADA accessible.

Quick lunch break on a rainy day and only a carefully crafted cappuccino could cure my sadness. So relieved that this coffee lounge is opened and wish them good luck in months to come . Great to see the place utilized during the day not just evenings for dance classes. I always loved this place but now it has an extra kick. Great and attentive service from the talented barista! I will return for sure! 10% off for college students!

Quite corner for coffee with plenty of places for the eye to land.

What kind of matcha powder do they use?

Hi Caroline, we love our matcha from Uji, Kyoto, Japan, which is like Champagne, France for sparkling wines. It's very smooth and less bitter, offers so much umami sweetness. Being Japanese, I had to make sure our matcha is of high quality and very…

They have plenty of seating, some upholstered furniture and we saw a few Friday morning telecommuters working on their laptops and sipping their coffees. Our order was a Chai Latte and a Cold Brew - each was $5. The pours were very large, and I swear that my cold brew was the very best I've ever had. I love coffee, drinking it hot or cold, and what I had here is in my all-time Top Five Percent. It was that good. I had a sip of my wife's Chai Latte and thought it was excellent as well. What really impressed me were the flavors of both drinks- not overpowering, but strong enough to appreciate them. The Coffee Guy has it all - specialty coffees, matcha, chai, espresso drinks, and pastries and sweet treats to pair with your coffee cup. We couldn't resist grabbing a few on our way out, and we took home a box with a Spinach croissant, iced blueberry scone, and a cruffin (croissant/muffin hybrid). We loved our visit to the Coffee Guy, and I was so impressed by the total experience, I just subscribed to their newsletter. So the next time we're looking for a midday break or afternoon pick-me-up..... I know a guy!

His name is Taki Tanaka, and he's a master at crafting any coffee you might desire. He can be currently found at the very unique space combining dance and drinking coffee, Garage Dance Studio & Coffee Lounge. While the dance studio and the coffee lounge share the same space, they don't share the same hours of operation. I was here a few months ago, to find the coffee portion in the dark and the dance floor in full bloom! I came again yesterday afternoon, to find the opposite. This time the coffee lounge was open, and no one was on the dance floor. The inside is set to look like you're in somewhere in Madrid amongst the colorful buildings, where the tables are all adorned with red tablecloths. Of course, the barista working was Taki Tanaka. We chatted briefly and he made me the most delightful Honey Fig Latte. It was creamy, foamy, with a beautiful rose art design he hand poured himself. This was mildly sweet, rich in coffee, utterly satisfying with each sip. I just wish there was dance to see.

I decided to order a Chai Latte because I had never tried it before. I don't drink coffee, but the Chai Latte was good. For me, it needed to be a little sweeter, but all in all, it was a Chai Latte. There is also a dance studio located inside the coffee shop. They offer dance lessons, and the inside, from the dance clothes to the others hanging from the window, gives off a Latin vibe.

The barista then came into the lobby, closed the door, and smiled directly at me, which made me think she was returning to prepare my drinks. Instead, she picked up both tickets, looked at them, and threw them away without starting my order. She then began cleaning the machines and eventually went to the back, leaving me waiting for about 20 minutes with no update. When she returned, I asked for a refund since I needed to leave. Rather than processing it, she repeatedly insisted on making the drink, even after I clearly said I preferred a refund. She told me she would process my refund. Two days later the charge went through. The interaction felt confusing and poorly handled. I completed their survey, submitted a comment via their website, and sent them a Yelp message. Well, the website said they were New York bagels(from my ancestral home, The Bronx), so I thought they might be exceptionally good. Nope. First the good--the decaf Cappuccino was exceptional. Good espresso base, nice foam. It couldn't have been better. Now, about the bagel. Not much variety; only plain or everything. They asked if I wanted it "warmed." I suspected that meant "in a microwave" so I said if it was fresh, I didn't need it warmed. When the bagel arrived, it was ice cold. Must have been kept in a fridge, which doesn't help the taste or texture of baked goods. Because of that, it did not seem particularly fresh. It was certainly not like the New York bagels of my childhood, unless you compare it to prepackaged commercial bagels (like Lenders). The staff was professional and helpful, and was glad to explain what was or wasn't available. Service was prompt. I'm sure I'll go back another time and try the beignets.

Also had an avocado toast. Decent, added on tomatoes and pickled onions (both $0.75 additional each). The description said that the base (original total $9) for the build your own avocado toast had olive oil and lime on it but I honestly could not taste either. Not sure if they didn't add it or if it may have been mixed in with the mashed up avocado? If so I think it would be better if added on top. Had to put more salt and pepper on it but at least they had packets available to do so. Overall not bad but kinda overpriced (for example they had potato pancakes for $2.75/each?? And additional $1 for apple sauce and another $1 for sour cream? I think it would be better to have 3 pancakes with the add ons for all one charge). Hot tramp, I love you so" (David Bowie) After a morning appointment in Farmington, we were both in the mood to stop somewhere for breakfast. That gave us the perfect opportunity to stop at a place we've driven by a zillion times. Rebel Dog Coffee's area shops have been on our radar for years, and yesterday we finally checked their Farmington location. It's in a strip mall shopping plaza right next to a Nardelli's more or less where Route 6 crosses Fienneman Road/Birdseye Road. Their Dog Pack has four Rebel Dog members spread out around the Greater Hartford area and some of their coffees can be found in local supermarkets. Their Farmington store is very large and comfortable, with plenty of space between the customer tables. The dining room was fairly crowded when we arrived, with people socializing and banging away on their laptops. Rebel Dog has a very deep offering of coffee drinks and food choices, Want a coffee? Well, you best be ready to choose among single or double espressos (with or without foam of whipped cream or steamed milk, lattes. Cappuccinos, mochas, and Americanos, light-dark-or decaf drip coffees, French Press, Pour Overs, teas, jot chocolates and a ton more. You can even get a growler of coffee, tea, or kombucha. I never saw that before. Now, what good is a morning coffee without something to munch alongside it? No worries, because the Dog has you covered with everything from "Build Your Own" breakfast sandwiches, six egg Benedicts, oatmeal, yogurt & granola, fruit cups, and pastries. If you arrive later in the day, your options might include soups, salads, sandwiches, grilled cheese and burgers. Our breakfast order was a cup of their Steady Habits light house blend (a medium-light roast, smooth and sweet with notes of roasted nuts, fig, and caramel), a cup of their Big Red Truck Dark Roast (a blend of both washed process and natural process Colombian coffees for a rich and layered coffee with notes of dark chocolate, crème brûlée, and warm spices), a "build Your Own" Breakfast Bagel Sandwich and an order of Avocado Toast. With tax and tip, everything totaled under $25. The sandwich we built contained ham and an egg on an Everything Bagel and we had zero complaints about it. My Avocado Toast (no added egg or protein) was wonderful. It was a thick slice of homemade multigrain bread topped with a very generous blanket of smashed avocado. We could not have been happier with our first encounter with a Rebel Dog.
