I really wanted to like this place, but it's a no for me. First off, the girl who took our order was rude. I ordered the iced chocolate covered strawberry latte, and I asked her if they stirred their iced lattes, she replied yes. I asked her if I could get mine layered, because I like to taste all the elements that goes into the latte separately for my first couple of sips. She looked confused to my request, as I tried to explain what I wanted, she proceeded to roll her eyes at me. It was the absolute worst iced latte I have had in my life! I don't know if it was the espresso or the flavors, but it had a super artificial taste to it, and it stayed with me for a while. My BF got the iced coffee black, and he said it left a taste in his mouth that was very unpleasant. We both threw out our drinks. We also ordered the grilled cheese. It looked like it was make with a thinly rolled-out pizza dough. The color of the melted cheese was unappetizing in itself. Half of it went into the trash with our drinks. I'm all for giving places a 2nd chance, but not this time. 2 stars only because we didn't try any of the pastries in their showcase.

    Great logo!

This place is such a gem. Local coffee, homemade bakery treats, plate it forward to give back to others and great ambiance to sit outside on a beautiful day. The service was fantastic.

This is such a lovely coffee shop! Located in the center of Plantsville, Lions Den Coffee is a hot spot for locals to grab quality coffee, freshly pipped cannolis, and enjoy breakfast and lunch. It was our first time visiting, we easily spotted the shop's sign and there was easy parking. It was a busy morning, people were enjoying outside on the patio and the shop's seating inside was mostly occupied... Surprisingly, it did not feel crowded. The line was long, but went quickly, enough time for us to decide on our drinks. They do coffee without the frills and cater to true coffee enthusiasts. From drip, pour over, cold brew, nitro brew, and French press--they have it all. They do have signature, seasonal, and tea menus. I opted in the London Fog with honey and oat milk. They have a brand called Rishi for their teas which I haven't heard of before. My mom tried one of their signature lattes, Caramel Biscotti. My tea was very good and steeped strong. My mom loved her coffee, she can see why it's a signature flavor and highly recommends it. Lions Den has had an assortment of pastries, muffins, coffee cake and cannolis that are freshly piped. They have breakfast sandwich, paninis, and yogurt parfaits. The menu is small and simple, but still a good variety to please everyone. I can't wait to stop by Lions Den coffee again. Next time I'll grab a bite to eat and test out the coffee for myself.

Grand Opening for this new Simsbury location is on March 11th (3 days away), but already I hear the Lions Den has a regular following. I arrived after 9:30am and as you can see many of the tables were occupied. Even though this is described as an Italian bakery, they have everything, French toast, wheat, plain and one more kind of bagel (forgot)for their bagel sandwiches. The oatmeal looks interesting and I'm looking forward to trying it in the future. I know you're thinking all breakfast sandwiches are basically the same... but I have to tell you there was definitively something about my everything bagel with egg, sausage patty and cheddar sandwich that made it ABOVE average! I am actually thinking about when I can go back and have another one! I ordered cannoli to bring home and, although we didn't eat them for 2 days, they were still outstanding! I will definitely remember to get future cannoli from the Lions Den!

Cute place and friendly staff. Nice decor. Loved the Iced Nutella Latte. The Con Panna was strong for me. If I am in the area again I will try some of their other options.

Moving to Connecticut soon, so in search of good coffee we stumbled upon Lions Den over the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised because they had some great espresso beverage options and some delicious pastries. I got a mocha latte and enjoyed it along with the lobster tail pastry (omg absolutely delicious). They do have optimal parking in the lot, and some indoor seating which is nice. We may become regulars soon!

The Lions Den is definitely a new hot spot. I stumbled upon it in my travels. It's an Italian themed cafe that is just classy. It's super clean, tastefully decorated and it just feels Uber trendy. The interior is warm and inviting. They have a delightful menu of eats and treats. They do have Wi-Fi which is always a plus. I'm here to study and it's just comfortable, not too loud. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but it's CT. Deal with it. If you want common swill; go to DD. I highly encourage a visit to experience a taste of Italy. And!!! One of the baristas are wiping down the customer areas!!! can I get a hell yeah?!?

After starting with a classic coffee menu, Lion's Den began to expand with some staple ingredients (ie. nutella), added lattes and seasonal offerings. They have since continued to evolve around the community's interest, now offering: smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, parfaits, pastries & bagels-much of which is made in house. The owners have built an amazing customer base and strive to provide a strong, supportive workplace for their team members. They are also very involved in giving back to their community one of which is to the local law enforcement. They host an annual 'Back the Blue' fundraiser and also sell merchandise and beans which directly support different departments such as the K-9 Unit. The shops vision aligns with the saying 'Le Dolce Vita', to be a place that you truly enjoy sitting down to relax and enjoy life. While enjoying the outside patio, you might want to snag one of these two delicious drinks: The iced shaken espresso or the nutella latte. *10/10 on the sweet croissants hot out of the oven too! You'll find parking & plenty of seating too. They offer call ahead/pick up and order delivery too.

Review came from visiting the Simsbury location. tldr; go somewhere else, anywhere else If you want delicious coffee, then you should probably not enter this place. It seems innocent enough, just a subpar coffee shop in place of the one that was there before. However, finding out it's religious made it much much worse. Some people may be into that, but reading the words "We are gods' instruments in helping him better this world." while you wait for some crappy coffee just isn't my idea of a good time. Whether you're religious or not, assuming an all powerful "god" has a gender and that it's a guy is just stupid. p.s. The apostrophe for " gods' " is incorrect.

In the case of Tulmeadow Farm and Lacroix's Homemade (I'm posting the same update for both), I have to admit that I had it somewhat wrong. Both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's made @cticecreamtour's Top 15 CT Creameries. My original reviews for both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's were both good btw. I just didn't initially connect with the flavors I tried in the way that I did with my other CT favorites. Since those initial reviews, everything I tried at each has been a banger. At Lacroix's, I've now had Banana ice cream, Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, Biscoff ice cream and a Sundae with coconut caramel ice cream and a S'mores flavor. The sundae with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, whipped cream and maybe the best cherry I've ever had in a sundae (don't know what they did) was great, but it's harder to pick out the flavors of the ice cream with all the delicious toppings. The ice cream seemed very good though. The Peanut Butter Cup flavor was outstanding. Very rich with big gobs of cups. The banana flavor was amazingly realistic. And the Biscoff was very good too. While Lacroix's is very popular and there is always a steady flow of business, I like that I get access to the friendly owners there too. Lacroix's is 5 Stars and I'm updating my review.

We couldn't wait to come back. Several months later on our second visit, we arrived well before their posted closing time - 9pm. It was around 7:45pm, the lights were on, but the door was locked and the staff seemed to be cleaning up. One of them looked up, saw us standing at the door and then went back to doing whatever they were doing without bothering to engage with us. It was incredibly frustrating having driven almost an hour with the expectation of getting some delicious food, only to be ignored by staff at a time when they were supposed to be open. Many months later (giving them the benefit of the doubt that the early closure on our last visit was a fluke) we made the trip up again. We arrived to find the place was locked up and dark - again during a time when they were supposed to be open. Today I was with some friends and we stopped to have lunch at Smokin' With Chris next door. During our meal, I mentioned my past experiences with The Lab, but also said how good the food was. So, we walked over to look at the menu and possibly pick up dinner for later that evening. It was around 1:30pm, the lights were off and the door was locked. I double-checked their website, and they were supposed to be open at 11:30am. While I was on my phone, an employee came up, unlocked the door, turned on the lights and began his shift - two full hours after they were supposed to be open! WTF?! Apparently, the owners of The Lab seem to believe that their food is so epic that they can just operate their business whenever they like regardless of their posted hours. This total lack of consideration for their customers is beyond insulting. It's really too bad because the food is good, but not good enough to offset the unprofessional manner the owners are running (or in this case, not running) this place. There are way too many other great dining options available nearby that actually adhere to their posted hours to put up with this nonsense.
