It's too bad they had to bury their beautiful work. They promised one day of prep, one day of pipe pulling to replace my old clay pipe with new pipe, and one day for the city's inspection and their cleanup. Everything went according to plan, and I believe their price was reasonable. I waited for decades to take care of this problem because I thought that it would be enormously expensive to dig up the entire 30' from my house to the sidewalk. That would produce enough dirt to cover almost 1/2 of my front yard. I considered pipe lining, but I was concerned that I couldn't clear any future problems with a snake without damaging the lining. Instead of digging a major trench or lining the old drain, Mattucci dug a hole at each end of the old pipe and pulled the new pipe from hole to hole. The STD-17 pipe they used is both flexible for installation and very strong for a very long lifetime afterwards and no more roots. They discussed the plans ahead of time with the city senior inspector before beginning work, so there were no problems with the city permit or the final inspection. Tyler, Olsi and Matt had previously completed many pipe pulls similar to mine, so there were no hiccups or price increases. I was surprised how much effort they spent on the third day repacking the dirt and cleaning up their work. They had saved patches of grass before they initially dug the two holes and they put each patch back exactly where it came from. Except for the newly installed cleanouts, there was no sign of the extensive work they had performed during the previous three days. I was impressed and very happy with their work. For a complex job like this one, I would definitely go with Mattucci again.

To come out for an estimate, it was $150, which would apply to the cost. I didn't notice on the estimate I received, the BTU was lower than what was being replaced by 10k BTU (original heater was 35k BTU). It was my oversight by not confirming with Max that it would be the same BTU. Lessons learned. He did explain that 35k is overkill for the area being heated....roughly 500 sqf and the lower heater BTU of 25k would last longer. The installers were neat and tidy and made sure they cleaned up the area after installation. The cost is definitely on the high side $2,200 (cost of the wall heater was $724 plus a new thermostat). It took about 2 1/2 hours to install. So labor was definitely on the high side. Hindsight, I would've gotten a couple of more estimates.

Even with all that, Cyrus stuck to his original quote and never tried to charge us more, which we really appreciated. Jaime and Jesus handled the installation of the air handler, ductwork, and heat pump. They worked hard, were very respectful of our home, kept things clean, and honestly were much quieter doing the work than I expected considering all the cutting and installation involved. They also worked hard to finish ahead of the timeline they originally gave us. Inspection passed with no issues, and now we've been using the AC for months with zero problems. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. My Mom's house is over 90 years old. We are pretty sure the sewer pipes under the house were the originals as she's lived there for decades. We had to have the pipes "snaked" every 6-8 months. It was time, finally, to have the pipes replaced. Part of the reason we delayed was the cost, part of it was the thought that it would be a nightmare project. But the time came that it had to be done. Kim Allen and his crew, Sean and Alejandro finished the job on time. All three of them were polite and helpful. We called Donalan's and they were totally receptive and friendly and answer this right away. They told us they were going to be at our house between eight and nine they were at the house right on time. Moved into a rental house in Torrance and immediately had a plumbing problem. The Landlord told us to call anyone to come fix it since it was urgent. I called Kim at Don Allen Plumbing and he was out within an hour or so to fix the non-draining main bathtub. When you have 3 little kids, the tub in very very important lol. The plumber wanted to charge us $3600.00 to replace a leaking shower fixture. He claimed the water…read morepressure regulator and possibly the valve associated with that needed to be replaced. He also told us that an extra tank needed to be added to our relatively new water heater. And he would not replace our shower fixture until he "corrected" the above alleged problems. When he tried to remove the cartridge of the fixture, or the valve stem, he claimed the stem was stuck to the valve body. Therefore, he would have to cut a bigger hole in our shower wall to reach the valve body. My husband and I politely dismissed him. He then replaced our shower fixture UPSIDE DOWN! We later asked our maintenance man about the pressure regulator. He said the water pressure was fine. There was nothing wrong with the regulator. We ended up using Daddario Plumbing-Matt Daddario- who not only replaced the shower fixture but also snaked our badly clogged kitchen sink for $189.00. Matt had all the tools and parts on his truck and worked confidently, efficiently, and quickly. So, who would you choose?

Saw their Instagram ad for $85 flush for water heater so I messaged him on yelp and asked about the…read morespecial. Roland never mentioned anything about any other price and I told him it's in the 3rd floor attic. Was supposed to come at 8AM but never came until I messaged him asking where he was but said they were tied up and will come later at 3pm. Should've cancelled there but Matt came and did all the work. He said it'll be $285 and I said it's supposed to be $85 and he had to call Roland to figure it out. Roland says they would never do that price for tankless flush and descale and need to charge extra for being in the attic even though I told him it's in the 3rd floor attic and he never mentioned any other price. He said the $85 is for flush only and not descaling the water heater and they would do me a favor by dropping the price to $175 from original price. Went to his website and it shows they have a special for $129 for water heater descale on their tankless water heater page so the special price still not correct. Find out the price before you have to pay more and telling you bunch of excuses. Matt came with a descaling solution and bucket so he knew it was for descale. If Roland thought it was only for flush he would've told Matt it was only for a flush and no need to bring vinegar for descaling.
