    Chorizo Burrito

Absolutely demolished a delicious Chorizo Burrito from here. Great spot for some quick authentic Mexican food only a few blocks from where I work. Was pleasantly surprised by how quick and attentive the service was as well--even offered complimentary chips and salsa the moment I sat down. Overall great food and experience

My coworker and I were excited to hear about Don Barriga opening near our work as our Mexican choices are rather slim in the area. We heard some good things about the food and decided to give it a try for lunch today. We got there just before 12pm and that was good because once we were seated in our booth, the relatively small restaurant filled up quickly. The four or five booths and the 4-top tables were filled and then people were constantly coming in to pick up their to-go orders. Don Barriga Mexican Grill has a very extensive menu and they have a separate menu (which is also online) for breakfast options although they don't open until 10am. All the choices looked good. My friend went with a chicken quesadilla and I had the Don Barriga Fajitas which comes with chicken, steak, and shrimp. I also got a side guacamole. Once seated, we were served chips with green and red sauces. The red was spicy! The green not as much. A glass bottle of cold water was also served which was needed for that red sauce. We needed a second bottle! The triangle chips were crunchy, not stale or over-salted, and we ate too many before our lunch came. My fajitas came out steaming hot on the skillet and had a lot of flavor and seasoning. They came with a small side of Mexican rice, four slices of avocado, and four flour tortillas. There was more than an abundance of food to fill up the tortillas. Even asking for a to-go container, the skillet was still too hot to the touch to handle and I had to create a potholder of napkins to pick it up to put in the container. The guacamole was excellent. Rice was nothing special. My friend liked her super-sized quesadilla but forgot to ask for it without sour cream which there was a lot of in and on it. It had a lot of chicken and lettuce and cheese. Cheese was the only topping my fajitas did not come with that I would have liked. My friend ate half and I took the other half home. She enjoyed it but was not ecstatic about her food. I really liked mine. Overall, very pleased with Don Barriga Mexican Grill. Our server was pleasant and helpful. If we were in the mood for Mexican again, this is a great choice. It is a little on the expensive side. $22 for the fajitas, $14 for the Quesadilla, $7 for the side of guacamole. $46.44 not including tip for lunch today. We hope Don Barriga Mexican Grill has a nice log life on Chestnut Street. Good Luck!

Had been to the UCity don barriga, so I knew the food would be good, but this spot was next level. Free chips! That's it. The ambience is really fun, and there's a surprising amount of seating inside. Will deffo be going again

Very disappointed! It's literally all rice and a tiny bit of ground beef and beans. For $15 I would love some protein.

I can only speak to the food I received via Uber Eats, but for $15 I would really like some protein. This is supposed to be a ground beef burrito but it's all rice! The chips were quality as was the salsa, but unimpressed with the burrito. And I guess we'll try something else considering the reviews are so strong because I'm not impressed with this order at all.

First we asked for ice and the waiter walked away well rolling her eyes. Then they gave it to us in a bucket. There was gum under the table chips on my seat, and the food was mid. Taco Bell is even better. The service was horrible the food was mid and the table was disgusting then to top it all off they charged us extra for beans we didn't even order!

Great authentic Mexican food. Service was quick & friendly & it is a great lunch stop. It is definitely much busier around lunchtime then dinner time. There's no bar & the inside is kind of small. Located right near UPenn & Jefferson. The food was so fresh & bursting with flavors.

Pretty new spot to this area and worth stopping in to try. Large menu which is expected, but the portions are also huge! You really get your moneys worth plus the food is delicious and fresh. Surprised there wasn't more people in here yet. Delicious. Thanks

    Tostadas de pollo. Fantastic.

I went back and still do not disappoint. Food if fresh and ambience is clean and music. Service attentive.

The bar has a fantastic variety of tangy, spicy, bright toppings and salsas to make your taco your own. My favorite is always the reddish orange salsa and this one tastes just like the taco places back in Texas. The tacos are hefty, so that makes up for the slightly higher than average price. They didn't have jamaica when I went so they subbed in mango juice and it was incredible, my new go-to. Service is friendly, fast and there's plenty of seating and a nice outdoor space.

Definitely coming back again!…read more My wife and I stopped by for dinner on the way to watch the Sixers get dunked on (literally and figuratively) by the Knicks, and boy were we impressed. First, we're kind of on an enmolada (chicken mole enchiladas) kick, and have been slowly touring the city ordering it everywhere it's available. We love what we've gotten so far, but most mole sauces have been more on the raisin/chocolate/coffee/lightly sweet side of the spectrum. Taqueria Morales' enmoladas were nutty and complex up front, with a lingering taste of delicious smoke and heat afterward. No joke, it was like the mole equivalent of a nice cognac. Would absolutely come just for this. Myself? I was hankering for al pastor and heard and seen that Taqueria Morales is solid on the al pastor front. Well, I heard and seen rightly, because the meat was well marinated and had an excellent balance of sourness and floral spice in the mix, and came out on what I can only assume are house-made tortillas with a side of radishes and nopales (cactus). Every bite was perfect, and that was before I added on some of the green and red salsas that our chips and guac came with. Finally, the staff was bomb. The lady taking our orders and serving us was super nice and attentive, and the kitchen was FAST. Couldn't have been more than 7 minutes from placing our order and sitting down to getting it out in front of us. It was so good I almost wished we stopped back after the backbreaker of a game to get some comfort tacos. Don't miss this place!

I'm sorry I didn't take photos of the tacos, but trust me me I get no pleasure from leaving a bad review for this place; I am not lying or exaggerating. I thought they were going to be one of our local gems. I choked down a half a taco, gave the rest to my husband and he couldn't eat them either. The churros actually had raw batter in the middle and the outside was rubbery and hard at the same time. You could barely bite through it. I'm a cook and I know that that is about keeping the oil at an even temperature to get the inside done and not overcook the outside. Someone in the kitchen did not know what they were doing. The thing is, I have had their food before and it was pretty good. I don't know if there is a new chef or what happened, but I can't trust them after this experience.

They have a great Taco Tuesday deal with $1 tacos, offering carnitas and chicken tacos as part of the special. The carnitas tacos were seasoned perfectly -- 8/10. The only thing that would elevate them even more would be adding pico. The chicken tacos were a 4/10 unfortunately. They lacked flavor and tasted like plain boiled chicken placed on a tortilla, which was disappointing. We also ordered the Tres Salsa and chips. Out of the three salsas, the green and red were the standouts and packed the most flavor. For drinks, we ordered margaritas on the rocks ($5, plus $2 additional for flavor). I tried mango and passion fruit -- the mango tasted more like orange juice, while the passion fruit maintained its flavor much better. If you're looking for a family-friendly indoor/outdoor spot, this is a great option. I noticed a good mix of couples and singles, which made for a nice atmosphere. Bar seating is limited at night, and outdoor seating closes around 7:00 PM. Overall, for Taco Tuesday, I'd give it a 7/10 -- great atmosphere and deals, but food consistency could use some work.
