He got an extra star because he is a great guy! Alberto agreed to fix the finish on our dining table. Needless to say he made it worse and left it in a big mess! He did not sand before staining and left a sticky gluey mess. He was unable to remove the sticky mess. The table would have been ruined had someone else who knew what to do not come along and sanded and redid the finish as it was supposed to be. This was a very expensive table that needed minor work...that became a major problem. Great guy, but won't use again. This was not his best project for sure!

He seemed eager and happy to hear my service needs and to align on a date that worked for both of us. (2) Skilled and experienced Service Performed - While my job was relatively small (install of door slab), the 50 year old existing frame it was being affixed to was not-leveled. This was no problem for Alberto - he efficiently repaired doorway and successfully installed slab. Alberto finished the job quickly and made it look easy (in about half the time that was quoted by other competitor handymen services I had contacted). (3) Post-Job Cleanup - Alberto and his assistant thoroughly swept the work area and removed project trash, following completion. They did an immaculate job excavating and patching the exterior of my basement even in bad weather, which immediately fixed the problem. The scope was bigger than initially expected and we were able to come to a very reasonable agreement. Other contractors were trying to sell me on very expensive multi-step processes to demo, do water testing, patch the interior and then renovate. Mike--without saying a bad word about competitors--put me at ease, explained the issue and remedy, and addressed it in record time. Done, fixed, and good as new within a week. Robert is responsive and holds true to his estimates which I found to be both fair and competitive. He and his team arrive not only on time, but often 15 minutes early but are so courteous that they wait in front of your home before ringing your doorbell unless you wave them inside. And there is no dilly dallying; they come in and get straight to work, all the while being pleasant, polite, and considerate of the care you take with your home. Our home had water damage on all three levels as the pipe that burst was on the top floor. It was an absolute mess after the demo and mold remediation and I was beside myself. Robert and his team did all they could to make our lives easier/less stressful during the restoration work. They often made me laugh when I felt like crying. And the results were beautiful. They definitely demonstrate attention to detail, use quality materials, and even give you various options from which to choose. They completed both projects in the time they said they would and no one could believe how great it all looked when they were done given what a disaster it all was when they arrived. But what was just as important to me, if not even a little more, was that I felt completely comfortable and at ease with Robert and his team in my home all day. So much so that I often asked if they'd mind if I left for a few hours to run errands. I'd come home to find them busily working, not a single thing was ever touched. They wouldn't even help themselves to cold drinks in the refrigerator after I welcomed them to do so, saying that they just didn't feel right about reaching into anyone's fridge...so I made up for that by intermittently asking them if there was anything I could offer them to eat or drink given how hard they worked to get our lives back to normal. They dealt with State Farm on our behalf for over a YEAR (that's an entirely different review!) and our new roof is amazing. We hired Lakewood Home Builders to build a 2-story addition following an architects' plans. The…read morework was completed in 2019. Since then, we have struggled to get them to correct problems. The mini-split systems their HVAC subcontractor installed have never worked properly. They run for a little while (long enough to pass inspection apparently) and then shut off and have to be reset. Their HVAC sub said they were getting new units for us, and now that I have asked again they say they are out of warranty so they don't have to. The new concrete driveway is deteriorating already. The deterioration seems to be only on the main portion so presumably a problem with that concrete pour. When I asked about the first signs of deterioration my concerns were brushed off. The driveway was also initially made narrower than the civil engineer's specifications so a strip had to be added to make it the correct width, which looks unsightly. They also cut corners with the architect's specifications. The back stairs were supposed to be low-rise - about 6.5" - to match our front stairs for accessibility. Instead they used higher risers so those stairs have a rise about 8" and are hard for me to use. The attic pull-down stairs that were specified to be insulated are not. I worry that there are more things that we just haven't noticed that were not done to specifications. We like the space, but the rec room is unusable in winter without a working heating system. Another warning - their HVAC subcontractor installed HVAC air vents in the floor of a bathroom including next to the toilet. Imagine what happens when the toilet overflows? Code allowed that (and may still, be careful) but it's certainly a bad idea (code does not allow HVAC vents in bathroom floors in commercial buildings) and I would hesitate to trust a contractor who built like that. I really wish we had chosen a different contractor.
