    Chicken tortilla soup

First time here and really enjoyed it ,drinks were very good food was delicious and service was excellent! Definitely recommend we had the chicken enchilada and chile relleno combo, chicken tortilla soup, an carne de res en chile colorado.

Nachos Platter! ~$13 This was more than filling and had nacho and shredded cheeses! Shared this between two people.

We came in for a quick bite! Nachos were delicious, Camarones a la Diabla, and Cheese Enchiladas were filling and made well. Service was super fast, friendly, and informative. Our waiter was polite and answered our questions. Ambiance was old school Mexican and we liked the fountain by our table! Family friendly and decorated nicely.

On our way back home from Leona Valley cherry picking we stopped by to have lunch. I found them on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Once we walked in we were greeted by a friendly gentlemen that sat us right away. (Wish I asked for his name) once seated they brought us salsa and chips. I love it when the chips Mexican restaurants serve is warm. I ordered chicken flautas and a taco Al pastor. Both very delicious and flavorful. My sister in law ordered chicken and steak fajitas and again loved the seasoning. We enjoyed our food and will most definitely stop by again next time we are in the area Great service, wonderful ambiance, Delicious food, reasonable prices. ... .. What more can you ask for.

    My Chile Relleno (ala Carte).

This My stop Place on my 2 hour drive home from work The service is always Excellent and the food is fresh and delicious!! Ask for the habanero Salsa. Best little hidden Place In Acton!!

There's an enchilada in there. The taco came on the side.

This place is a typical Mexican restaurant. I had the taco and enchilada plate. Both of which were good. Their enchilada sauce is delicious. The taco was ok. Chips and salsa were served when we sat down. It's got a good, laidback atmosphere. The only complaint I have is that the waiter came by to take our order and dropped our food off and that was the last we saw of him. We had to ask the front desk to get our bill and I never got a refill of my drink. It wasn't that busy. I'd still go back because the food was really good.

There's a down home, country feel to the 49'er Saloon subtly referring to the California gold rush days of yore. Looks like an ideal place for bikers and horse riders. Hearty grub with hints of traditional regional American cuisine and full bar where you will not leave hungry. There's a formal dining room for larger gatherings for families and friends. Great place to eat after scrambling around Vasquez Rocks, visiting Animal Tracks, or just hungry on CA 14 frwy. Just get off the Crown Valley offramp and head due south for about a mile. 1) Wild Game Sausage: Walk On The Wild Side With Jalapeño-Cheddar Stuffed Elk With Roasted Peppers & Onions. Big portion enough for 2 meals since the Elk sausage is so rich. Elk sausage is ground fine and stuffed tightly in the casing for dense, firm texture. You're getting your money's worth. The Jalapeño has a nice, warm piquancy while the Cheddar gives a dairy fermented undertone. The julienned red and green bellpeppers are pleasantly al dente; the onions are caramelized to bring out their sweetness. It's all sautéed in an agrodolce/sweet-sour sauce along with a touch of garlic. 1a) Side dish: Nice little garden salad including green lettuce, diced purple onion, chopped tomato, grated carrot. Chose blue cheese dressing to use for the "Buffalo Burger". 2) "Buffalo Burger" is extra finely ground, plush, velvety Bison meat. So when I ordered it medium rare, the patty turned out mushy. Next time, I will order it medium to firm up and give more of a chaw to the meat. Opted for two slices of not too crispy, meaty bacon. Mayo, tomato, green lettuce leaf, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, dense brioche bun. I spread on the blue cheese dressing to give a little funk to what I thought would be the blood minerality of the Bison meat. It's another substantial dish. 2a) Side dish of standard French fries which was crisp as requested although it didn't quite have that ineffable earthy, mildly sweet, potato flavour 1-2a) Allegiance India Pale Ale, Lancaster CA was a good counter to both food items. Dry, heavy bodied, fruity with scents of orange zest, lacquer, touch of cleansing acidity. 49'er doesn't leave you hungry so didn't have enough room for dessert. I took the Elk sausage home and made sandwiches for two meals. So eating at the 49'er isn't as expensive due to the big portions. 4 stars

HH: 1) Jamón Serrano: Spanish cured ham thinly sliced. Deeply red brown, meaty, with a fermented, salty sweet porkiness and bit of luscious fat ringing the edges. Cornichons, and summer ripened honey dew melon respectively added a pickled, acidic crunch, and dulcet, fruit, juiciness. Not as fat marbled, plush and deeply porky as Jamón Ibérico de Bellota where pigs are fattened on forest strewn acorns, but still a nice nosh. 2) Shrimp Escoffier: Three plump, moist shrimp tail on in a creamy, buttery Sauce Velouté enriched by dulcet Jerez with its sweet, woody, oxidized fermentation. Velouté was sopped up by slices of the house Bread. Btw, Georges Auguste Escoffier (1846-1935) was a legendary French culinary artist known as "the king of chefs and the chef of kings." 3) Stuffed Mushrooms: Button Mushrooms topped with tomato tasting mostly of French thyme and whisper of garlic swimming in olive oil, baked till soft in a metal escargot pan. 1-3a) Claudia's Grenache, Reyes Winery, Agua Dulce, Ca 2014: Mellow, full bodied red, blackberry with a brown sugar toastiness due to hot summer temperatures. Lower acidity and tannins. Steve, the bartender, was very accommodating and thoughtful in a casual friendly way. When I asked for a wine recommendation to pair with the 3 dishes leaning toward a light red, he let me sample 2 wines to decide for myself. Dinner 5-9pm: 4) Black Bean Soup: Black beans are puréed in chicken broth enriched by cream. Pepped up by fresh ground black pepper. 5) Canard à l'Orange: Extra meaty, substantial duck in a well toned, solid, compact body. Duck was a touch over baked so the meat lost its lushness and dried out the duck, but still acceptable. The skin is crisped and finished in high heat with Grand Marnier orange liqueur. The sauce seems to be a combination of duck pan juices, touch of orange juice, and Grand Marnier for a sweet, citrus fattiness. Garnished with poached orange segments and refreshing orange slices. 5a) Bit over cooked, soft carrots tossed in sugar, salt, & butter. 5b) Pommes Dauphinoise: Potato au Gratin is slices of boiled potato in rich cream and well aged cheese. Touched with earthy garlic and baked to allow all the flavours to infuse. Couldn't sense a soupçon of nutmeg in Le Chêne version, but decadently, very excellent. 4-5b) Claudia's Grenache 6 Soufflé au Chocolat: Fluffy, airy, slightly gooey, very chocolate forward classic French dessert. The sides of the ceramic ramekin became extra hot so the outer perimeter of the Soufflé was crispy. Watery chocolate sauce for extra chocolatiness. Overall a good, old school version of bistrot French. Hearty, cuisine bourgeoise. Staff is responsive and attempts to be proactive. I came to Le Chêne in 1987, but the food didn't impress me enough for me come back. Fast forward to 2026, Le Chêne is worth returning especially in the dark winter months when good solid food seems so de riguer. 4- stars

We started out with Happy Hour at the bar and enjoyed some outstanding food and drink. Complimentary bread and butter were served right away. The atmosphere is so elegant and relaxing in the dining room, with wonderful views of native oaks. My trout almondine was perfectly cooked and the green salad was well-seasoned. We shared a chocolate soufflé which was a wonderful sweet conclusion to the meal. Because I had eaten so much at Happy Hour, I did take part of my meal home with me. You're drawn in by the familiar, comfortable design featuring mirrored signs with writing in Victorian style fonts that continue onto the menus. They have marble tables and counters, with comfortable chairs, and lots of light coming in through the windows. The staff is all smiles and very welcoming, happy to help you navigate the very interesting bill of fare, and making sure your cocktail is made exactly as you like. I was dining solo, so I sat at the bar, and James took excellent care of me from start to finish. I asked for a Bombay Sapphire Martini with Olives; James immediately offered regular or blue cheese-stuffed olives, and asked if I preferred the martini shaken or stirred. The drink that emerged was well-balanced, cold and very tasty. The menu is filled with all sorts of interesting choices. Some are familiar items like salads and fishes and hamburgers or cheesesteak sandwiches done in their way -- but my eye immediately went to a very unique starter: Duck Fat Potato Confit. Say what? As James explained, it is a whole potato that has been slow cooked in duck fat (confit, as we know) and served as the main attraction in the dish as one might similarly feature a duck leg or short rib. I had to order this, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding dishes I've eaten in a long time. The aforementioned, slow-cooked potato initially appears a bit like a whole boiled potato, but looks are deceiving. Because of the cooking method, the potato holds it's consistency and shape much more than a boiled or baked potato, cutting almost like a protein. It's solid but tender, and as it has absorbed quite a bit of flavor during the cooking, this potato is far tastier on its own than those other iterations. But you are NOT eating this potato unadorned. Oh no, this potato is dressed with caramelized onions, smoky bacon lardons, wild mushrooms and a rich, very flavorful demi-glace. All together, you've layers upon layers of flavor that make you ignore all distractions and really concentrate on the pleasure you're getting from your food. But that's not all... Perhaps the cleverest element of a dish composed entirely of clever elements is the Mornay Sauce. Snow white, and with enough of just the right cheese to add texture to the Bechemel without becoming too powerful, the sauce is plated on the bottom, with the potato resting atop it. Visually, this looks like mashed potatoes served underneath a protein, and it plays the same role texturally -- but because you wouldn't serve potatoes with a potato, the sauce is a lighter accompaniment, whose flavor marries perfectly with the more complex sauce coming from above, and you cannot help but marvel at this stroke of culinary magic. Just wow. I finished with a dessert of Key Lime Budino, which was rich and creamy with a serious hit of sour from the Key Lime. A nice and refreshing shift after the savory richness of my entree. How lucky are the people of Newhall and Santa Clarita that they have a restaurant making such interesting and excellent food? I come up at least once a month for a music event, and how lucky am I to have discovered this place to eat beforehand? And by the way: if you live in the San Fernando Valley, this place is really less than 30 minutes away (without traffic), so the next time you're thinking of going over the hill to a place in Beverly Hills or Santa Monica, you may want to head North instead. I promise you, The Old Town Junction will become your new favorite.
