    Part of the ambiance.

The food was succulent. The presentation was appealing to our eyes. The service was above expected. Jessica the waitress, was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, spoke Spanish and was accommodating. The ambiance was very refreshing to our souls. Being there felt like being in France. The restaurant is surrounded by mountains. There is a smell highway leading to the restaurant, which made us feel like we were traveling in time. There was very few cars in the road which made us feel like we were in a rural place. The gardens are very well kept. It is perfect for any event. I would go back.

Been here enough times to write about it now. Upon walking in we're always greeted immediately. I've sat on the outside patio and inside dining area near the bar and at the bar. This time I opted for the bar. They told me they have a happy hour. Who doesn't like a good happy hour? Ordered lobster ravioli. French onion soup. I've also had the duck. Next I want to try the beef bourguignon. Lobster ravioli. The sauce is good. But the ravioli tastes previously frozen.... Just be aware. Is it bad? No not at all. Would I order it again? Nope. French onion soup. Traditional and properly made. The broth is not to salty and perfectly savory. Onions caramelized to perfection. Cheese over bread melted perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend their onion soup. Duck. So I've had it two different times. The first time it was so dry I couldn't eat it. Second time it was PERFECT. I don't know if it was an off day or what the first time. Seemed busy as heck so maybe it was overlooked/overcooked. Overall this is a fantastic restaurant. They've been here for over 40 years and obviously there's a good reason they've stayed in business that long. The food is good. The seating is great. Atmosphere is great. Only reason for the 4 instead of 5 is due to the issues I mentioned. Would I recommend d this place? Absolutely. Try it out and enjoy! Food: above average. Decor: outdated but homey. Staff: excellent, no issues. Bathroom. Clean.

We have been celebrating our special family events at Le Chene for about 20 years. The food is consistently delicious, the service is amazing, and the environment is beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

I ate here on Friday night. Highly recommend the French onion soup it was excellent: rich, flavorful, with the onions perfectly caramelized and the soup perfectly made. The chocolate mousse was just as incredible, light yet decadent. The staff was warm, professional, and attentive, and the dining room had a beautiful, classic French ambiance. Honestly, I don't know how this place only has a 3.7 on Yelp it deserves much higher. Le Chene captures fine French dining, it's the best French restaurant in Southern California.

I understand a small fee to change a soup or salad but charging the full price of each is just ridiculous! Where's my credit for the soup and salad we paid for which is included in the entree price? I could $2-3 upcharge... but no the waiter didn't say anything about the salad or soup being a full price separate charge otherwise we wouldn't have chose that. The menu is very unclear.

We had an amazing evening with family and friends. 10 out of 10 for the food and service. This place is calm and relaxing and great for date nights.

Stopped by for dinner as we've heard really nice things about this place. We didn't have an appointment but it was early enough so it wouldn't be a problem getting a table. Got seated right along the window overlooking into the garden patio area. View is quite nice and serene which makes it for a nice meal. The service was great. Our waitress was very informative in the menu and what was offered. Menu was quite impressive with all the French favorites. There was something for everyone which is great. Also the wine list was quite impressive as well. The French onion slick was great, and plenty of cheese which was the cream on top. Seafood pasta was nice with plenty of chunks of seafood and I believe the pasta was homemade. The beef bourguignon was very flavorful. Plenty chunks of meat. Also the steak was great, cooked perfectly and paired nicely with the condiments. Also had the soufflé which does take a while to prepare. Food was great, service was nice and dinner was a nice experience.

Returning to Le Chêne French Cuisine: From Veterans Day Elegance to Unforgettable Brunch We first experienced the incredible warmth and culinary artistry of Le Chêne French Cuisine on Veterans Day. That first visit, where I enjoyed one of the finest preparations of Swordfish I've ever had, left an undeniable impression. You truly know a restaurant is exceptional when you rush back for a second taste. Today, we returned for brunch, and I can confirm: Le Chêne is not just excellent; it is consistently outstanding. The Culinary Journey: A Symphony of Flavors The brunch menu here is far from standard. It beautifully balances classic French elegance with satisfying, hearty offerings: * My Dish: Hungarian Goulash & Celery Soup. Moving from perfect seafood to a deeply satisfying meal, the Door Goulash was rich, tender, and perfectly seasoned--a truly comforting dish elevated to fine dining standards. Paired with the delicate, fresh flavor of the Celery Soup, it was the ideal combination of rustic and refined. * A Family Feast: The rest of the table was equally impressed. My daughter's Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict looked decadent, expertly marrying a classic brunch staple with luxurious, perfectly cooked tenderloin. My wife's Salmon Dish was vibrant and flaky, while my other daughter indulged in the superb Filet Mignon entree. Every plate was beautifully executed with precision. The Atmosphere: Timeless Charm and Rustic Elegance Le Chêne's ambiance is the perfect backdrop for a special occasion. The lighting is flattering, the French-inspired decor is sophisticated yet inviting, and the seating is comfortable. It manages to feel both celebratory and intimate--the kind of place where conversations flow easily, and time seems to slow down, allowing you to fully savor the experience. The Heart of Le Chêne: Meeting Owner Juan Alonso But the true magic lies in the hospitality. On our first visit, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Juan Alonso. His genuine passion for the craft, and the way he personally ensures every guest feels valued, is the beating heart of Le Chêne. It's clear this is not just a business; it's a commitment to excellence and community. Having the chance to chat and even grab a photo with him truly sealed the deal. Juan Alonso, thank you for the wonderful experience! Final Verdict: Whether you're seeking a special dinner, an elegant brunch, or just a place that offers incredible food and unmatched hospitality, put Le Chêne French Cuisine on your must-visit list. The consistent quality, timeless atmosphere, and personal touch make it a true local treasure. Highly, highly recommended.

Yes! For main entrees you can request for a veggie plate or a pasta primavera.

Do they welcome kids accommodate with high chairs?

The veggies were obviously from frozen and were not very enjoyable. I spent roughly $55 for the entree plus $2 for the sautéed mushrooms which were also disappointing. All in all just not a great tasting meal. After tip and tax $70 was the total and I feel disappointed tricked. I would ask the chef to please put a little more love into your food. If you are going to sauté mushrooms, use some butter, not cooking oil. Get a little flame on your steaks to bring out the flavor and let it acclimate a little bit before you throw it on the grill so it stays juicy. Use fresh vegetables, not frozen or cooked and reheated the next day. The service was great BTW. Only I could tell she knew I wasn't enjoying my meal, which is probably why she didn't ask me how I liked it. On the other hand I had an excellent meal at Broken Bit steakhouse not far from here the day before. The chef should go there and learn something. Oh yeah and my meal was $10 less there.

There's a down home, country feel to the 49'er Saloon subtly referring to the California gold rush days of yore. Looks like an ideal place for bikers and horse riders. Hearty grub with hints of traditional regional American cuisine and full bar where you will not leave hungry. There's a formal dining room for larger gatherings for families and friends. Great place to eat after scrambling around Vasquez Rocks, visiting Animal Tracks, or just hungry on CA 14 frwy. Just get off the Crown Valley offramp and head due south for about a mile. 1) Wild Game Sausage: Walk On The Wild Side With Jalapeño-Cheddar Stuffed Elk With Roasted Peppers & Onions. Big portion enough for 2 meals since the Elk sausage is so rich. Elk sausage is ground fine and stuffed tightly in the casing for dense, firm texture. You're getting your money's worth. The Jalapeño has a nice, warm piquancy while the Cheddar gives a dairy fermented undertone. The julienned red and green bellpeppers are pleasantly al dente; the onions are caramelized to bring out their sweetness. It's all sautéed in an agrodolce/sweet-sour sauce along with a touch of garlic. 1a) Side dish: Nice little garden salad including green lettuce, diced purple onion, chopped tomato, grated carrot. Chose blue cheese dressing to use for the "Buffalo Burger". 2) "Buffalo Burger" is extra finely ground, plush, velvety Bison meat. So when I ordered it medium rare, the patty turned out mushy. Next time, I will order it medium to firm up and give more of a chaw to the meat. Opted for two slices of not too crispy, meaty bacon. Mayo, tomato, green lettuce leaf, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, dense brioche bun. I spread on the blue cheese dressing to give a little funk to what I thought would be the blood minerality of the Bison meat. It's another substantial dish. 2a) Side dish of standard French fries which was crisp as requested although it didn't quite have that ineffable earthy, mildly sweet, potato flavour 1-2a) Allegiance India Pale Ale, Lancaster CA was a good counter to both food items. Dry, heavy bodied, fruity with scents of orange zest, lacquer, touch of cleansing acidity. 49'er doesn't leave you hungry so didn't have enough room for dessert. I took the Elk sausage home and made sandwiches for two meals. So eating at the 49'er isn't as expensive due to the big portions. 4 stars

I found this place on Yelp and dropped by for dinner. My party of 2 was seated immediately. Personally I thought the menus were hard to read. The gray lines in the background were quite dark and clashed with the actual menu items. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to reprint the menus with lighter background. They have an extensive cocktail menu with a lot of gin-based drinks. They also have good selection of wine and NA drinks as well, including some mocktails. I got the I'm Driving mocktail ($13), which I really liked. It had good passion fruit flavor without being too sour. Felt like a really nice tropical juice. My friend really liked his drink Bramblin' Man ($17), which had strong notes of bourbon and blackberry. I wasn't super hungry, but the braised short rib looked amazing so I got that for $43. It was very tender, but I personally found it bland especially on the inside. I asked for additional sauce so I could drench each bite in the sauce. My favorite part of the plate was surprisingly the potato croquette, which was perfectly crispy and well flavored. My friend got the chicken club ($23), which he enjoyed. I stole a bunch of his seasoned fries since they were so good. I would've loved to get dessert but was too stuffed. Next time!

In…read moredoing some research we came to find that Newhall had a few new restaurants, based on the reviews and the pictures we traveled there to the Newhall Refinery. The street front seating and building architecture is very appealing and welcoming. As you enter the main doors, you are greeting by friendly staff. We were offered any open seating, we decided to take a table against the back wall that was adjacent to the entry. The decor inside is very rustic with a touch of micro brewery, the ceiling has many tap handles that adorn the ceiling. The menu and food, we were initially drawn into the Refinery since they seem to be the only spot that offered Brunch and Mimosas in the downtown street. Key point of clarification, the Mimosas are simi bottomless (you have 90 min) to pour down, some of us really like Mimosas, plus the price was just slightly higher that we typically expect at 27, per person. Were they good, yes, so we decided to go with one Mimosa and an Old Fashion drink, it was very well done, Buffalo Trace Bourbon. We ordered from the Brunch menu, the Steak and Eggs, cooked to your liking, they did a great job on both, the one item that we were less impressed with were the overcooked Oreda looking potatoes that accompanied the meals. We also ordered the Cacio e Pepe Beni, Prosciutto, perfect poached eggs and all of the other fixings, it was great testing and the presentation was amazing. As far as my overall rating I could not give it a 5 star due to what other customers have shared in their reviews, the wait staff is not timely, almost forced friendly and possibly just lacking some restaurant experience, they did not come around or notice things like empty water glasses and a few other things, could have been understaffed possibly on this day. Overall I would still recommend the Refinery due to the location, atmosphere, drinks and main dish prep. Thank you for providing a break from reality during a very trying time in our family.

There was plenty of parking in this lot. The entrance is located through their patio, which can be a bit counter intuitive. We came at opening and the restaurant got really busy during our time there. Initially we were looking at the sandwiches because it was lunch time, but then we were going to a wedding that night so we decided to eat something more filling since the ceremony and speeches always delay the eating. All entrees here are served with black beans and rice or congri, and 3 fried plantains. My boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja ($28) with the congri and I had the Lechon Asado ($25) with the rice and beans. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered. My boyfriend's Ropa Vieja is a Cuban braised beef. The congri is basically a mix of the rice and beans. This dish was super tasty and the shredded beef was so tender with the bell peppers and onions. I can really taste the red wine and tomato sauce in the base. I took a few bites but in general I preferred my dish more, and vis versa he enjoyed his dish more. My lechon asado is a roasted pork that is super super tenderrrrrr. It was so sweet with the grilled onions and it had the perfect amount of fattiness without being over bearing. SO GOOD! Love the plaintains too. I'm glad I got the rice and beans option because I would have gotten too full too quick with the congri. I barely touched my beans and only got through half of my rice. Both dishes came with this super tasty garlic butter sauce that I poured on my rice and made it even tastier. It was so good. One thing I didn't enjoy about the experience was the flies attacking us and our food. Since the door is open and connected to their outdoor space, it leaves the opportunities for flies to come in. We had to play defense with the flies the whole time. The service here is a little slow. Especially when I was trying to get back on the road I wasn't feeling too patient. I waived down multiple staff members too. Also I got hit with an undisclosed 3% surcharge for using my credit card. I only found out after I got the receipt. I would have paid in cash if I knew. *dislike* LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Might be the best Cuban food I've ever had... and I've been to Florida where there was a lot of Cuban spots. The food quality is spectacular! I always get the Baracoa Cubano sandwich and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and organic with each dish I've ordered. Since I have allergies to ingredients used to preserve frozen food, it's always been so hard finding a restaurant with a menu that doesn't cause me issues--and Baracoa has never compromised with their ingredients! The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.
