We really enjoyed our dinner here. Quaint restaurant, beautiful outside patio view. We sat in their main dining room by the window, delicious meal. Ordered a ribeye steak and the Shrimp Scallop Biarritz. The steak was excellent. My parts was very tasty but the pasta got a little soggy. We loved the cocktails, service and ambiance. Will be coming back for happy hour!

A true hidden gem! Worth every single minute of the drive. This place is a complete hole-in-the-wall, but it serves the most VERY AUTHENTIC FRENCH CUISINE you will ever find! It is the only restaurant we will gladly drive 2 hours away from home for, and we have never once regretted it. It's never hit-or-miss here--we always leave completely full and super happy. The food is absolutely amazing! Every time we go, I tell myself I'm going to explore more of the menu, but I always end up ordering the Ribeye! ‍ It is just my absolute favorite. The chef cooks it perfectly every single time. I order it medium-rare, and it always comes out with the most perfect sear!On top of the incredible food, the service is great too. The ambiance is perfect french restaurant fine style! Everything here is delicious, so I highly, highly recommend it! You won't regret making the trip, but be warned: you will start craving it at least once or twice a month!

So my boyfriend and I went to Le Chêne last night to meet his brother and wife for dinner... and whew, where do I start? Not trying to be rude, but this place felt like it's been frozen in time -- serving what I can only describe as "senior French cuisine." The service moved at the slowest pace imaginable -- it took ages just to get water, and a bread refill felt like winning the lottery. My "salad" was literally a chunk of lettuce with oil, salt, pepper, and one lonely tomato slice sitting on top like it gave up. The crab cakes? Way too fishy. Everything just tasted... tired. The vibe was calm, but not in a cozy way -- more like awkwardly quiet. It also kinda felt like our table was the last one anyone wanted to check on. The crowd was mostly older, and the energy matched that: slow, bland, and in need of some spark. Honestly, Le Chêne could really use a refresh -- new menu, new dining experience, maybe even a little personality makeover. We spent two hours there for two chicken plates, a veal dish, and a steak, and left wishing for a little flavor and fun. Last but not least the most tasty thing was my escargot

Been here enough times to write about it now. Upon walking in we're always greeted immediately. I've sat on the outside patio and inside dining area near the bar and at the bar. This time I opted for the bar. They told me they have a happy hour. Who doesn't like a good happy hour? Ordered lobster ravioli. French onion soup. I've also had the duck. Next I want to try the beef bourguignon. Lobster ravioli. The sauce is good. But the ravioli tastes previously frozen.... Just be aware. Is it bad? No not at all. Would I order it again? Nope. French onion soup. Traditional and properly made. The broth is not to salty and perfectly savory. Onions caramelized to perfection. Cheese over bread melted perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend their onion soup. Duck. So I've had it two different times. The first time it was so dry I couldn't eat it. Second time it was PERFECT. I don't know if it was an off day or what the first time. Seemed busy as heck so maybe it was overlooked/overcooked. Overall this is a fantastic restaurant. They've been here for over 40 years and obviously there's a good reason they've stayed in business that long. The food is good. The seating is great. Atmosphere is great. Only reason for the 4 instead of 5 is due to the issues I mentioned. Would I recommend d this place? Absolutely. Try it out and enjoy! Food: above average. Decor: outdated but homey. Staff: excellent, no issues. Bathroom. Clean.

    Part of the ambiance.

The food was succulent. The presentation was appealing to our eyes. The service was above expected. Jessica the waitress, was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, spoke Spanish and was accommodating. The ambiance was very refreshing to our souls. Being there felt like being in France. The restaurant is surrounded by mountains. There is a smell highway leading to the restaurant, which made us feel like we were traveling in time. There was very few cars in the road which made us feel like we were in a rural place. The gardens are very well kept. It is perfect for any event. I would go back.

We have been celebrating our special family events at Le Chene for about 20 years. The food is consistently delicious, the service is amazing, and the environment is beautiful. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

I ate here on Friday night. Highly recommend the French onion soup it was excellent: rich, flavorful, with the onions perfectly caramelized and the soup perfectly made. The chocolate mousse was just as incredible, light yet decadent. The staff was warm, professional, and attentive, and the dining room had a beautiful, classic French ambiance. Honestly, I don't know how this place only has a 3.7 on Yelp it deserves much higher. Le Chene captures fine French dining, it's the best French restaurant in Southern California.

We had such a wonderful dining experience at Le Chêne! From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and truly exceptional. The staff made us feel welcomed and valued throughout the entire evening. The food was absolutely outstanding. We started with the escargot and stuffed mushrooms--both were perfectly prepared and packed with rich, classic French flavor. My son had the filet mignon and lobster, which was cooked to perfection--tender, juicy, and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed the lobster ravioli, creamy and indulgent, and the New York steak with bordelaise butter, which was savory and expertly prepared. What made the evening even more special was the owner. He was gracious, personable, and clearly passionate about his restaurant. You can truly feel his pride in every detail--from the quality of the food to the attentive service. It's rare to see an owner so involved and genuinely caring about each guest's experience. Le Chêne offers not just an amazing meal, but a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be coming back!

I understand a small fee to change a soup or salad but charging the full price of each is just ridiculous! Where's my credit for the soup and salad we paid for which is included in the entree price? I could $2-3 upcharge... but no the waiter didn't say anything about the salad or soup being a full price separate charge otherwise we wouldn't have chose that. The menu is very unclear.

We had an amazing evening with family and friends. 10 out of 10 for the food and service. This place is calm and relaxing and great for date nights.

Stopped by for dinner as we've heard really nice things about this place. We didn't have an appointment but it was early enough so it wouldn't be a problem getting a table. Got seated right along the window overlooking into the garden patio area. View is quite nice and serene which makes it for a nice meal. The service was great. Our waitress was very informative in the menu and what was offered. Menu was quite impressive with all the French favorites. There was something for everyone which is great. Also the wine list was quite impressive as well. The French onion slick was great, and plenty of cheese which was the cream on top. Seafood pasta was nice with plenty of chunks of seafood and I believe the pasta was homemade. The beef bourguignon was very flavorful. Plenty chunks of meat. Also the steak was great, cooked perfectly and paired nicely with the condiments. Also had the soufflé which does take a while to prepare. Food was great, service was nice and dinner was a nice experience.

From the moment we sat down, it felt like everyone was in a rush to get us in and out. Our waitress came over almost immediately and, without even a hello or introduction, simply asked what we wanted to drink. We also ordered a BBQ chicken salad, and the waitress asked what kind of dressing we wanted on it. I thought that was a little odd because I've always known salads like that to come already tossed or prepared with the dressing. When I questioned it, she acted like I was the weird one for asking. Throughout the meal, the service continued to feel rushed and impersonal. Even the person who brought out our food basically just dropped it on the table and walked away. The food was good, but when you're going out for a nice dinner--especially on a date--you expect the service and overall experience to match. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case for us last night.

Just get off the Crown Valley offramp and head due south for about a mile. 1) Wild Game Sausage: Walk On The Wild Side With Jalapeño-Cheddar Stuffed Elk With Roasted Peppers & Onions. Big portion enough for 2 meals since the Elk sausage is so rich. Elk sausage is ground fine and stuffed tightly in the casing for dense, firm texture. You're getting your money's worth. The Jalapeño has a nice, warm piquancy while the Cheddar gives a dairy fermented undertone. The julienned red and green bellpeppers are pleasantly al dente; the onions are caramelized to bring out their sweetness. It's all sautéed in an agrodolce/sweet-sour sauce along with a touch of garlic. 1a) Side dish: Nice little garden salad including green lettuce, diced purple onion, chopped tomato, grated carrot. Chose blue cheese dressing to use for the "Buffalo Burger". 2) "Buffalo Burger" is extra finely ground, plush, velvety Bison meat. So when I ordered it medium rare, the patty turned out mushy. Next time, I will order it medium to firm up and give more of a chaw to the meat. Opted for two slices of not too crispy, meaty bacon. Mayo, tomato, green lettuce leaf, grilled onions, cheddar cheese, dense brioche bun. I spread on the blue cheese dressing to give a little funk to what I thought would be the blood minerality of the Bison meat. It's another substantial dish. 2a) Side dish of standard French fries which was crisp as requested although it didn't quite have that ineffable earthy, mildly sweet, potato flavour 1-2a) Allegiance India Pale Ale, Lancaster CA was a good counter to both food items. Dry, heavy bodied, fruity with scents of orange zest, lacquer, touch of cleansing acidity. 49'er doesn't leave you hungry so didn't have enough room for dessert. I took the Elk sausage home and made sandwiches for two meals. So eating at the 49'er isn't as expensive due to the big portions. 4 stars

The staff is all smiles and very welcoming, happy to help you navigate the very interesting bill of fare, and making sure your cocktail is made exactly as you like. I was dining solo, so I sat at the bar, and James took excellent care of me from start to finish. I asked for a Bombay Sapphire Martini with Olives; James immediately offered regular or blue cheese-stuffed olives, and asked if I preferred the martini shaken or stirred. The drink that emerged was well-balanced, cold and very tasty. The menu is filled with all sorts of interesting choices. Some are familiar items like salads and fishes and hamburgers or cheesesteak sandwiches done in their way -- but my eye immediately went to a very unique starter: Duck Fat Potato Confit. Say what? As James explained, it is a whole potato that has been slow cooked in duck fat (confit, as we know) and served as the main attraction in the dish as one might similarly feature a duck leg or short rib. I had to order this, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding dishes I've eaten in a long time. The aforementioned, slow-cooked potato initially appears a bit like a whole boiled potato, but looks are deceiving. Because of the cooking method, the potato holds it's consistency and shape much more than a boiled or baked potato, cutting almost like a protein. It's solid but tender, and as it has absorbed quite a bit of flavor during the cooking, this potato is far tastier on its own than those other iterations. But you are NOT eating this potato unadorned. Oh no, this potato is dressed with caramelized onions, smoky bacon lardons, wild mushrooms and a rich, very flavorful demi-glace. All together, you've layers upon layers of flavor that make you ignore all distractions and really concentrate on the pleasure you're getting from your food. But that's not all... Perhaps the cleverest element of a dish composed entirely of clever elements is the Mornay Sauce. Snow white, and with enough of just the right cheese to add texture to the Bechemel without becoming too powerful, the sauce is plated on the bottom, with the potato resting atop it. Visually, this looks like mashed potatoes served underneath a protein, and it plays the same role texturally -- but because you wouldn't serve potatoes with a potato, the sauce is a lighter accompaniment, whose flavor marries perfectly with the more complex sauce coming from above, and you cannot help but marvel at this stroke of culinary magic. Just wow. I finished with a dessert of Key Lime Budino, which was rich and creamy with a serious hit of sour from the Key Lime. A nice and refreshing shift after the savory richness of my entree. How lucky are the people of Newhall and Santa Clarita that they have a restaurant making such interesting and excellent food? I come up at least once a month for a music event, and how lucky am I to have discovered this place to eat beforehand? And by the way: if you live in the San Fernando Valley, this place is really less than 30 minutes away (without traffic), so the next time you're thinking of going over the hill to a place in Beverly Hills or Santa Monica, you may want to head North instead. I promise you, The Old Town Junction will become your new favorite.

And the potato salad we were advised that a large party had come before us, so there was no more. Which is crazy sad it was only noon and I think they open like at nine or 10 AM. But the one that you could eat without any sauce would be the tri-tip. The ribs were excellent. The barbecue links were good too. You only get two in the plate and they cut them up in little pieces. But they're good. They weren't overly spicy and they still had some good snap to them. Meats: 9.5/10 The barbecue sauce is a no. It is heavy on the vinegar so bring your own barbecue sauce. The brussels sprouts were I'd say 7/10. They weren't anything too fancy there's kind of like a balsamic on it. They're good but they're not amazing. It could've probably used like some bacon bits or something in it. I don't know. The mac & cheese is a no. It's literally large mushy noodles and watery cheese sauce.. and the cheese sauce is bland. 3/10 The cowboy beans were OK. It's more like a chili for sure. There's a lot going on in them but again they're pretty good. They lean more on the tangy side. When I say tangy, it's probably vinegar and ketchupy if I had to pinpoint the tastes. 6/10. The cornbread is a no. It's more flour based than corn. It falls apart pretty easy. It's kind of dense. At any rate, I'd prefer Jiffy over whatever they're using. 4/10
