Upon entering this fine establishment I was greeted with a wonderful aroma. We were quickly seated and greeted by our server, Ms. Angel. Ms. Angel is the best server I've had this year. We had two good experiences at Don Chenchos while in town. The staff were friendly, attentive and the food was tasty! We ordered enchiladas, birria tacos and a large cheese dip. I was a little worried about the fees people speak of, but truthfully I didn't see anything worth giving a down vote.... Yes they add the tip, no biggie. Honestly adding an 18% could backfire. I normally leave about 20-25% depending on the service. It's normal to have a fee added for large parties too. But enough about the fees. The food was fantastic. Food is delicious but All The Fees Makes This Place Not Worth It! A $30 meal easily turns into $50-$55. I paid $17.62 for one 12oz frozen margarita that cost less than $14. This place used to be packed wall to wall but after all the fees that's been it's easy to pass on this place. read more

So far this is a great place for me to have lunch and I hope dinner. I really enjoy the food here. So far, the food has been fresh, filling, and delicious. I taste only good fresh and wholesome ingredients from fresh vegetables. They have their own parking lot which is shared but plenty of room to park. When you come in you will be seated and don't expect some fancy spot this is a nice, casual Mexican restaurant. This place is real, not designed for a socializing niche with tasteless food, this place cranks out real Mexican deliciousness. I can't wait to go back and try more of this good eating here, forget the franchises, this place is better than any franchise I have been in serving Mexican type cuisine. The server was nice and I can't wait to get a chance to meet Roberto, he is the owner and chef, at least when I was there. Very good casual Mexican dining. The staff is always friendly. Everything is made fresh. The chicken and vegetables are outstanding. The Alambre dish is outstanding. The beef is sliced thin and cooked to perfection. The addition of fresh peppers and onions help to make it one of my favorites here. We had a party of three and when I got my bill it seemed a little high so I noticed they charged me an 18% gratuity (for a party of 3) was also charged 2.5 % because I used my debit card, and another service charge for coming inside. If I could give this place no stars, I would. We are on a Covid budget, and decided to spend some precious money supporting a local business. The carne asada tacos had no flavor and about five times too much cilantro. The enchilada platter w/verde sauce was terrible in every way. The verde sauce was like water and soaked into all of the corn tortillas, mixing with the too finely ground and flavorless ground beef, which made for a mealy mouthful. The pico was oddly dry and flavorless, the salsa tasted strongly of the aluminum can the tomatoes came out of, the chips tasted like they were made yesterday. We did have one good thing we liked; the Don Chencho dip was really tasty. Unfortunately, though it's described as a cheesy dip, it was also thin like soup, and because Don Chencho used terrible carry out containers, by the time we got the food home not only was the "dip" all over EVERYTHING in the bag, our Chencho dip was mostly dry meat. So anyway, that's it. Sorry for the bad review but that $33 bucks was pretty precious and in trying to support a local business, ended up basically throwing it away. .5/10 read more

A great family owned restaurant! I love their tamales and quesadillas, and my mother loves the margaritas. They come in the coolest bottles! I always pick up a few of their sodas. Browsing Yelp Saturday afternoon looking for a New Mexican restaurant and come across this place with good reviews. Check the menu and it looks great so plans are made. My girlfriend and I show up around 7:45 and sit right down. Orders for margaritas go in and we wait... Order our food around 7:55 and we wait... chips and salsa are now gone and we wait... at about 8:15 my food comes out but still no sign of our drinks so we wait... My meal sits in front of my, but I'm polite so I wait for girlfriends food. I had no silver ware so I guess I had no choice anyway. Finally everything shows up at the table around 8:30. The food was fine and the margarita decent but when you wait the better part of an hour for a meal that you could get in 15 minutes elsewhere it's a tough sell. It looked like a staff of two for the entire place so I understand it might take awhile. The waitress just seemed clueless. No "I'm sorry", no "your food is coming" no "we use only the freshest ingredients and our chef is now hunting your meal somewhere hundreds of miles away so you might want to take a nap". The menu has some things I would like to try and they had some great weekday specials. Maybe this was just a bad night, not sure I will risk finding out. read more

Casual Mexican dining. That's a good way to sum it up. It's pretty friendly and decently fast. The specials are actually pretty good. I've seen a variety the times I've been in but the best are the dollar tacos on Wednesdays and the several cheap drink specials they run. I think this is more of an entree focused place as their dipping sauces (cheese and bean dips) tend to be a little watery. I do love the tacos though! several different options based on what type of meats you enjoy. Kick up the spice with some salsa verde! I also tried the Choripollo, which is basically grilled chicken and chorizo smothered in cheese sauce. Slap it on some tortillas with rice and beans and you've got a treat. Absolutely chaotic, disorganized, and unprofessional. I understand it is busy but there was little work being done and more gossiping. Kept being told that someone would take my to-go order. 4 workers were chatting at the desk in front of me and I had to go up to them and ask for someone to take my order again. Our waitress Kelsey was helpful & friendly answering lots of our questions, staying patient and professional. She continued to come to our table, making sure we had everything we needed. The chips and salsa before our meals were delicious. We ordered 4 different entrees and each one was better than the next. Prices were extremely reasonable. The guacamole is first rate, the salsa verde has a real kick, and the tostadas are perfect. If you want luxury or chain restaurant decor, this place isn't for you.
