    Birria burrito

It's your average Mexican restaurant, which means the food is great! I think the prices are right for the portions. Sometimes their servers are a little hard to understand, but that shouldn't be a problem, just something to note. Noticed new menu items, person I went with ordered the birria burrito and looks wise-- very appetizing. Taste wise-- could be more flavorful. I think it was a bit bland but not bad. The meat also could've been moister.

I'm not sure how they gave a 3.5 star rating, but the food was mediocre at best and the service was terrible. We asked for hot sauce twice and never received it. We sat for awhile before the waiter came, they brought only half my order and the tacos and tostada had little filling and not much on the tostada. I can't recommend this place at all.

There are so many Mexican restaurants in the Metro East that are just sad (not tasty/inauthentic)…read more Not so with Tienda El Ranchito! Before today, the only Mexican places I've actually enjoyed in over a year living in the area are Frida's in Fairview Heights and Agavero in Collinsville, and honestly, Agavero is just okay. Visiting Tienda El Ranchito today was a breath of fresh air and I'll definitely be back! Their salsa is more of a pico de gallo with a slight bit of heat from de-seeded jalapeños, but it was delicious. I had the al pastor and chicken tacos, with rice and beans, and my spouse had the carnitas, and all were great. Their beverage cups are large, which is nice, and the service was fast and friendly. Be aware, their main sign at the road is currently broken/missing anything that says their name. The front of the premises when you first walk in the door is actually a grocery store - the restaurant is in the back. Also, as many area restaurants do, they have an additional charge to pay with a credit card. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

The service was friendly but our server made errors with the order and didn't ask to fix them or check on us . The food came with rice and beans , both of which were "DELISH". The tacos were fine , the shrimp was rubbery and I got two chorizo tacos instead of the al pastor . The chile rellenos were great per my husband. The check was very very reasonable so definitely value for money . The store looked great and wish we had time to shop .

Servers will come by and tousle his hair, say hello, wave to him, they are just genuinely so sweet and kind; it makes our day. And they are busy too! So it means even more that they make the time to treat us like family. The food is some of the best in the area, the place is always busy, and who doesn't love a margarita? It does get loud, but I've never had trouble hearing my meal partner. We will keep coming back!

This night the restaurant wasn't incredibly busy yet we waited nearly 15 minutes and were never greeted, given an update on service, provided water or anything. After sitting there for some time, we continued to chat, another table arrived, sat and just minutes after, they were greeted, offered drinks and were able to put in their order. During this entire time the waiter "Noe" maintained constant moments of eye contact, making me think he was arriving soon, but that never happened. I'm not sure if this was his attempt at trying to antagonize us or what but he kept smirking when looking over and even did so again when we expressed our disappointment in his neglect which appeared racially motivated. I guess he thought it was funny, but that sort of behavior and that level of blatant ignorance and disrespect certainly isn't.
