I really enjoy trying different Mexican restaurants in this area, and found several I like to visit and have a tasty meal. I recently ordered takeout from Tres Caminos and was very unhappy with the food, service and condition of the restaurant. My chicken taco salad was dismal: the chicken was shredded and looked and tasted dry. It was a very small serving, and the bill was More than $12.00 - more than posted on the online menu. The other item, enchiladas verdes, was a tiny serving, only one enchilada, not three as listed on the online menu. Why so stingy?? The total bill was $48.00 - wrong price and way overcharged! No beverage, no side sauces, nada! The fellow at the counter offered no explanation, and quickly looked away. The whole place was a mess - old and tired looking. I didn't think this place could get any better, but it has since they seem to have brightened it up and cleaned it more than when I was in last! Our very last stop on the way to the airport was to get dinner, as we had tight connections & knew we wouldn't be home until midnight. This was sorta on the way, rated well & usually we can get in and out quickly with Mexican food - already having an idea of what we're in the mood for. We also typically skip drinks or grab a beer, unless something really catches our eye - tajin, tamarind... yup, consider our eyes in captivity! That did mean half the bill was drinks & I've zero regrets on that. I can't speak on the tortillas, as I never opened them... I won't look now to see if they're house made. As it will break my heart if they are & i skipped them! The chicken was a bit over but not to the point of it being overly dry or tough. Flavors on point. The food was fast, fab & filling. The drinks delicious. They were in no hurry yo get us out as it took a while to get the bill & to pick it back up. Went there with my parents on a Saturday at around five PM. Atmosphere was pleasant albeit (increasingly) loud. The service was great even as things got busier. Excellent drink selection, including a number of specialty cocktails. I have now twice ordered and highly enjoyed the Vampiro. One of our favorites! You can tell by the crowded parking lot that they're good but don't let that keep you away. We have never had to wait long. The servers are always wonderful and everything arrives quickly. They have a cute outdoor area - the traffic can get a little loud at busy times but that can't be helped. It's been awhile since we've been back to this place. Yesterday, we were there for the Cinco de Mayo celebration and boy....it was packed with customers! They have a patio for people who wants to enjoy a good weather like yesterday while eating their scrumptious meal. The food that we ordered was hands down AMAZING! So tasty and delicious! The waiters and waitresses was spot on! I was afraid that the food will be reduced in quality because of the high volume of customers inside, outside and waiting in line to get seated.....but they were great! Kudos to all the staff and employee because yesterday was a busy and special day and they delivered it and brought it like a well oiled machine! I would give them 10 stars if I can! If I could give them 0 stars I would. My family and I visited this place for lunch. We were told that they had a Tuesday special for 12oz lime margaritas for .99. We order our food and drinks, eat, then here comes the bill. Every other margarita on the bill is .99 the rest are regularly priced at $5.99. I ask the waiter why were only 3 margaritas listed at .99. He goes to get another employee that spoke better English and she come explain to us that the Tuesday special he provided was incorrect and it's buy any size margarita and a 12oz margarita for .99. We requested a manager. The manager told us he's sorry and he would let the waiter know but we still had to pay what was on the receipt because the waiter made a mistake. There is no way you think it's fair that your waiter makes a mistake and the customer has to pay for it. It was so many other ways that the situation could've been handled. I will never go back to this restaurant. 0/10 for this experience. read more

Short story: The food is amazing, the prices are fair, and the portions are satisfyingly huge. Long story: I've been coming to Tres Caminos for 4 years now, and it is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant. I've never been disappointed by anything I've ordered here. Price is always fair, portions are always more than fair ( I love my left overs), and the flavor is ridiculously good. At this point I trust that I could order by just closing my eyes and pointing at the menu. It's all good. The quality is really good and it is very reasonably priced for what you get. I get the Burrito California, which my group now calls the "Baby Burrito", because we have confirmed that it is in fact the size of a baby. It's so huge I get 4 meals out of it and I'm not exaggerating . Which is saying something because I'm not a light weight when it comes to food. Mango chipotle tacos, tacos locos, taco salad, nachos, and guac are amazing (just to name a few). Great Margaritas and they had me at Ski on tap. The servers are always great and they always take good care of us. It always looks packed, but I have never had to wait to be seated, because magic I guess. Blows my mind every time. As newer residents to the Metro East, we've been eating our way through all the local Mexican joints, trying to find our "place". Despite all the recommendations, overall we weren't that impressed. I ordered the Birria Tacos -- which I was pleasantly surprised to find on the menu -- and my husband ordered the chimichanga. Trying out the fried foods is a good way to tell if the grease gets changed out regularly. It was not... It reflected in their chips as well, which were paired alongside a rather sorry excuse for salsa. Overall the service was great and the food just hit past edible. It was a Sunday lunch crowd so they were packed, but we got right in and seated. Wandered in on the way home from soccer at the recommendation of some friends. We were thoroughly impressed. Best Mexican family restaurant i have found on this side of the river. The interior is bright, new and clean. Decor is on theme without being hokey. Service right away was pleasant greeting us. We showed up at 5pm and there were no tables available! Were told 15 minute wait and that was accurate. Our server was extremely helpful navigating the menu. If I have a small compliant it's that the menu has everything. You will need help finding out what the favorites are. That being said everything we had was good so maybe it's not a huge issue. We started with queso dip and cheese for the kids (they loved it) and the fresh made chunky guacamole for us. It was excellent. Large chunks of avocado with good acid and a bit of heat. Table salsa was also good. Nice balance of acid and sweet (I can't stand it when they taste like sugared down tomato sauce). Mixed well with the queso the kids got. I got one of the specials, it came in a huge lava rock bowl. Think pork, steak and chicken fajita meats in a bowl with a spicy sauce over the top. Meats were cooked well, sauce added a lot of flavor and punch. My wife got a carnitas burrito which was excellent. I usually go to carnitas but my wife ordered first so i had to get something different! Very moist and tender. Sweetness of the meat offset by the verde sauce which was acidic and bright with a little heat the queso rounded out and added richness. Rice and beans on the side are standard fare. Kids got fresh fruit popsicles for dessert and were very impressed. All in all excellent place, give it a try. It's worth the drive. read more

Without the time we sat waiting for the check we would have been done in 20 minutes with how quickly they rushed us... the server never smiled. Never asked us how the food was she actually never even created us. The queso fundido was cooked entirely too fast and the entire bottom layer was burnt cheese!!! I scooped the burnt cheese onto a plate and not ONE time dis the waitress ask to take the plate or what was wrong. Worst service I have ever had at this restaurant.
