Once I saw what the weekly special pasta was, I had to have it. I am a huge fan of Smoked Salmon and they did theirs in house. The pasta not only had the smoked salmon, it also had sautéed red onion, a tangy European style cream cheese sauce and cavatappi pasta with fried cappers and fresh dill. The cream sauce was perfect. It was just a light covering, enough for flavor without being overwhelming. As always, the portion was healthy, so I had leftovers for the next days lunch. I enjoyed it chilled and it was like eating a cold pasta salad. DPH always gets bonus points from me for having eco-friendly to-go vessels. My adult beverage of choice for the seafood pasta, was a glass of Pinot Gris. I prefer a Grigio, but they only had the Gris. Gris is fairly similar to Grigio. I always say, it's like a first cousin, once removed. Service is always top-notch. It doesn't matter if you are sitting at a table or the bar, you'll be treated right.

I enjoy a relaxing evening sitting at the bar at Bossanova, sipping a Martini. The music is played softly in the background at a level that makes it easy to enjoy and still have a conversation. When I get hungry while I am sipping my martini, I like to enjoy one of their flatbreads, perhaps an order of Salmon Rangoon or a bowl of French Mussels. They're all delicious and will satisfy my hunger pains. The reason I took a star away is, when I ordered my Extra Dry Tito's with a Twist and Make it Skate. The bartender did not know what I meant by, "Make It Skate". I had to explain to her what that phrase meant. She did fairly well, but it wasn't a true skate. So when the bartender offered me a green beer, I turned it down. She then offered me a, Green Sangria. What? She then told me it was made with Midori and I was sold. It was a refreshing green cocktail for the holiday. When you are partying on St. Paddy's Day, you need to snack to help balance the liquor consumption. Sticking with the "green" theme, I ordered some Guac Bites with a Sweet Chili dipping sauce. It's fresh mildly spicy guacamole wrapped in a won ton and fried to a golden color. It's one of my favorite appetizers here at BCG. They also offer a Cajun Ranch dip, but I prefer the Sweet Chili. The staff is friendly and very professional. The service has that family owned business feel. If you're a fan of Onion Rings, I recommend enjoying an order as an appetizer. Their rings are super big and made in house. I do not like onion rings that come from a bag. When ordering my sides, I like mashed potatoes with white gravy. They also offer brown gravy, if that is your thing. My other side is always green beans. They make their green beans with bacon and onion. It reminds me of my momma's. With those two sides, it is a true Sunday Chicken Dinner on any day of the week. I've been coming to Castelli's my entire life. I started coming here as a child when it was called, Moonlight. Many of the locals still call it, Moonlight and no-one will correct them, because we all know where they are talking about. Service in the carry-out room is always speedy and friendly. Since there were no clams, I went for the Catfish Basket. The Catfish Basket had multiple catfish fritters, steak fries and two hush puppies. They also provided a cup full of sliced onions and pickles. Plus, a small serving of Remoulade. I enjoyed the cajun breading on the catfish, it had a flavorful spicy kick. The steak fries were cut fat and thick and I liked the seasoning. For me, they could have been crispier. The Hush Puppies were good, but I was disappointed when I saw a box of Classic Hush Puppies being delivered by their supplier. Homemade Hush Puppies are so much more flavorful. They've been promoting, Barq's Creme Soda on FB and Creme Soda was a favorite when I was growing up, so I couldn't resit ordering one. It was cool, refreshing and brought back flashes of memories. Oh, it was also a great accompaniment beverage to my Lent dinner. Customer Service is good, because chances are you will be waited on by one of the owners. They are true hands on owners and big supporters of the Alton community.

We later noticed many other guests ordering the lobster mac & cheese--which we definitely would have tried (and even taken to go) had we known about it sooner. After realizing we had forgotten dessert, we placed an order for two slices of King Cake to go about 15 minutes after our lunch order. Unfortunately, this took an additional 45 minutes to receive. Be prepared for longer waits--anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes for food. The staff that day seemed a bit overwhelmed and struggled with ticket organization. Several customers picking up pre-ordered King Cakes were told it would be at least an hour, or staff couldn't locate their orders. We also witnessed a couple of customers return because half of their orders were missing. It was Mardi Gras weekend, so definitely a peak time, and the staff clearly could have used more support. That said, everyone remained patient and understanding through the hiccups. Would I come back? Absolutely. The food was excellent, and the turtle King Cake slices were incredible! I'd recommend having a visible board listing daily specials, available "by-the-slice" King Cake flavors, and dessert or donut options.
