Really good!! We are camping nearby and I wanted something different. They had a large menu and something for everyone. Now, with Mexican food I'm picky and I only really like chicken burritos. So we were able to create something I'd like- shredded chicken burrito with red sauce and cheese sauce. It was SO good. My kiddos quesadilla was good as well. I use to love this restaurant. Now if you pay card which is everyone use there is a charge of 4% every transaction. And the attitude of the server just trowing the menu to you not even saying hi hello welcome. I do not recommend this place anymore if I can no star on it I will. read more

I started my lunch here with a giant basket of chips. The salsa was a bit on the thin side for me, but it tasted okay. For my meal, I had street tacos with carnitas, which were good. Rice and beans came in a bowl. The hot sauce was really good. I asked for a 16-oz beer to wash everything down, but I received, drank, and was charged for 32 oz. Bartendress didn't speak a lot of English, but she was fun nevertheless. Even though I was the only person in the place when I finished my meal, it took longer than expected to receive my check, and to collect my payment. I'm in town for one night because it's a location for a film shoot. I decided to try this place because the guy at the motel recommended it. I'm giving them an extra star in deference to their remote location. Put them in a major city with a significant Mexican population and they would be out of business almost immediately. But the crowded parking lot attests that they are well liked and have a real local following. I had one of their signature Margaritas. A Margarita is so easy to make well. Decent tequila. FRESH lime juice. Some dry curaçao or triple sec. Shake vigorously and serve immediately. They used a good Patron tequila but despoiled it with a cocktail mix reminiscent of Kool-Aid. Their steak chimichanga was minimally seasoned chopped steak (only) in a limp tortilla. The tortilla wasn't fried. The accompanying rice and refritos were unremarkable. No hot sauce of any variety on the table. The servers were nice, personable,and prompt. Extra point for that! The food was alright, but with just a tiny bit of extra effort it could have been good. Then we sat there for 27 minutes with no one taking our order. 1 customer eating at the bar. 1 table on other side of restaurant done eating. Bartender was in clear view of seeing us but he was talking to a friend. Host was standing by cash register with I our view but was not paying attention to us. I'll start it off by asking who uses Yelp in BFE Wisconsin? Yeah, that was us and we ran into the worst Mexican Restaurant in the tri state area. Buyer beware, ask for a receipt before you pay. They'll charge whatever gratuity they want without telling you and then when you question it, the manager is busy for an hour. They try to get away with it by offering you a couple dollars to make things right. I was overcharged by nearly $30 dollars. After an hour, we got scolded by the server who gave us single dollar bills and said that's all that was going to happen. We ripped them up on the way out to prove a point. read more

Goofy name, different style, good food. It's not very family-friendly. You have to walk by the cantina-style open bar to come inside. They want your business. They want you to feel welcome. Service was good...quick and friendly. We both ordered margaritas (on the rocks with salt) but didn't care for them. The glass rim was coated with what appeared to be table salt, rather than the coarser margarita salt and they had a funny aftertaste (the result of some pre-packaged mix I'm guessing). Chips and salsa were delivered to our table shortly after we were seated. Chips were thicker than I care for, and tasted a tad bit stale; salsa had good flavor and mild heat. We had ordered a cheese dip when we were first seated to go with the chips but our waiter forgot to bring it...no biggie as we weren't charged for it either. This was the second worst Mexican food I've ever eaten, second only to a place that gave us major food poisoning... The chips weren't great, queso was runny/watery with no flavor, but the worst was the enchiladas. We got the 2 bean 2 cheese combo. The cheese version was literally some shredded cheese wrapped in tortilla with red sauce poured on top, where the cheese was not even melted let alone baked in the sauce. I'm not sure if I misread the description, but the jalapeño margarita was blue and super sweet. I rarely leave a drink behind and this one was left half full. I didn't mention anything to the staff because we were in a hurry. Went there on a Thursday night. Staying at a nearby hotel. The place was busy. Good sign. I sat at the bar. Immediate service from a nice gentleman. Beer ordered and came fast and I also received chips and salsa. Asked if I wanted Guacamole and I agreed. Salsa was not super spicy but on the setup were two hot sauces in a bottle. Added the spicy one to the salsa, and bam! Great Stuff. My Beer was a tall and it was very cold. Nice. Ordered a Flag Burrito. Was wondering why I was not asked about beans and rice. After it came out though I realized why! The thing was HUGE. I tried my best but from the chips and salsa and 2 large beers, I couldn't finish it. It was delicious. Could have been a TAD hotter, although the plate was very hot. Ordered another beer, in my broken Spanish, and even correctly asked for a lime, so the female who took that order thanked me for trying her language. It was fun. Only downside I could say was the 2nd beer was served in a glass that must have just come out of the washer and it was very warm, thus my beer got a tad warm by the end of it. My super nice male waiter/bartender disappeared so i waited a bit for a check, but then just decided to go to the register, where the nice girl spoken about before checked me out. Bill was correct and nothing out of place. Left a nice tip. Will go back. This looks like a Cantina if you have ever been to Spanish countries. Liked the décor. The carne asada I had was decent but made with very think strips of meat instead of a little thicker skirt steak cuts I am used to. Beans and rice decent and the chips and salsa were good. Being the only person to review this restaurant who is actually Mexican and grew up in Southern California. This place was amazingly great and a welcoming flavor since I now reside in Bismarck, North Dakota. I ordered actual Mexican food... not a burrito and taco like some of the other reviewers. I had a delicious chile relleno and my husband had the out of this world fajitas. WOW! The salsa was your typical restaurant style salsa. I do not know what people expect from free chips and salsa, but it was definitely not store bought. The reviewer who though that earlier was so far off. They had obviously never made a restaurant style salsa. You cannot get that flavor from a can. The menu has all your staple items including paella and campechana. I think people expect Mexican food to taste different every where they go, but I appreciate Mexican food tasting a consistent way, but tasting great at the same time. First time we've been able to take a romantic getaway Without Children, in almost 20 years. We're from California and love authentic Mexican food so looked on line and found this gem. When we arrived, we were seated and offered menus. Husband said we already know what we want. " I want the carne asada tacos with rice and beans for $8.99, that's advertised on your website. Two orders. And 2 Coronas." Our server said " ok, I'll be right back with your Coronas and some chips and salsa. He seemed annoyed about something. We were the only customers at this point. The atmosphere was nice, quiet. When the chips etc. were brought out, a family arrived and their arder was taken. Salsa was mild so we asked for spicy. Was told spicy salsa would arrive with the food. (Ok ) Our food arrived quickly and was wonderful. The salsa was even milder than before. Oh, well. Still a nice dinner. The other people's food arrived right after ours and looked good as well. We were not checked on once during our meal. We wanted to try the margaritas. Finally gave up. We left a $4 tip and gathered our things and went to the counter to pay. "Annoyed Server" walks up and my husband hands him 2, $20 bills. "Annoyed Server" types in the register and says $35.83. Husband asked how he got that total when it should have been 9+9+4+4=26. "Annoyed server" showed us the menu and said that they had new prices due to Corona Virus. Husband showed him the phone, with the advertised price, and reminded him we ordered the $8.99 carne asada tacos. "Annoyed Server refused to look at it and said "Well, this is the menu I can make a phone call if you don't like it" husband said " Yes, please do. This is ridiculous." No one raised their voice. "Annoyed Server, picks up the phone and calls......the police! Annoyed server says we are disputing our bill and he has no time to deal with us because the restaurant is very buisy. Cop A and B arrive on scene. We are told to step outside so as not to cause a scene. Um, ok. Cop A escorts us outside. Cop B talks to "Annoyed Server inside. Cop A listens politely to our story. Cop B Brings out our change $4.17. Cop B accuses us of "causing a disturbance" over a "couple of dollars". Cop B refuses to listen to our side of the story and reminds us again that we are "causing a disturbance" over a "couple of dollars" and looks at the next parking lot over. I have never eaten at such a low quality restaurant...and still haven't since I gagged on my first bite of shredded beef! The meat was rancid, mooshy and unflavored. The chips and salsa were gross too, being that the salsa tasted like tomatoes and jalapeños blended...zero other flavoring. The cheese dip was cold and I couldn't add enough salt to make it edible! They also started speaking Spanish and insulting me thinking I couldn't understand. They, then, charged my card for the entire meal, even after I told them I couldn't eat their food due to it being terrible. The manager told me to go eat somewhere else then! He really said those words to me, so I did and won't be back. Decided to try this place for my husband's birthday. Was not impressed. While the food was good, everywhere else was lacking. The bar was unfinished. My view was raw wood paneling or a window blocked by a styrofoam cup and a leaky ceiling. The hostess treated us nicely but our waitress came off cold or irritated to be serving us. It's not understandable how the place is 3 stars. It's more like 2. I get it, the competition for Mex food is scarce, but that won't last forever, and that is no excuse how to run a business. The hostess/server was not friendly. The carnitas was ok, but had a lot of salt. The asada burrito has good flavor, but the relleno was a little sour. Food is great and the menu quite extensive. Staff lleft something to be desired. My husband has a fractured ankle, just surgically repaired 2 days ago. Needs to be no weight bearing for the nnext few weekd and be careful with it. He put his hand on the table top to attempt to balance himself while transferring from his knee scooter to his seat in the booth - and the table began to tip. So he changed his strategy and placed his hand to balance on the back of his bench seat. The entire seat fell completely over backward, hitting a guest seated at the bar and depositting my already injured spouse on the floor. Fortunately it appears no one was injured further. The msnager on duty was monumentally unimpressed, barely acknowleging my husband on the floor or his bench laying on its back on the floor. We pointed out to him that the bench was completely unsecured to anythng which hardly seemed safe for an unusually highbacked bench. He seemed to care not one bit. Real nice guy. I pointed out that that bench was a lawsuit waiting to happen. He ignored me and walked away. Oh, and i forgot to mention there were no paper towels in the BR and the hand dryers were not working. The food presentation is very well done, and the selection is plentiful. The staff are very polite and professional. BUT watch out, the salt content is... WOW!!! I couldn't eat it. This has happened three time. The first time it happened I thought it was a mistake, the second time I thought it was me, the third time... I'm going out on a limb- the cook smokes or is salt-insensitive or is a million years old and can't taste salt. Otherwise it's a nice clean place with a nice atmosphere.
