I had a "Katsu Don", which is basically (don't quote me, it was dark!) a bowl of rice with a layer of whipped egg which reminded me of breakfast in Mexico, a portion of breaded chicken breast (sliced up), and some pickled ginger (carrot colored) and scallions on top. As I said, it was dark outside... but the dish was pretty good. The pickled ginger had the most flavor and packed a punch. Delicious! I really liked the whole thing, but I would have appreciated a little hot sauce or something. Rooster sauce would have been perfect. The service at the truck is what one would expect. They were busting it in there and still managed the minimum level of friendliness. If I see this truck again, I'll try it because the menu looked to be full of tasty meals. read more

Oh how I love to be able to get Katsu curry in WS! This was one of the items I lived off of in Japan as a college student. I actually used to make Japanese curry so much at home my family rebelled so I rarely make it any more, but now I can can come here and get my fix. Plus I don't fry at home so I can get that amazing crispy panko fried chicken here! Also love their pickle addition to the dish, it's the little things... I have been wanting to eat here for a long time, so I was excited when my husband wanted to eat here for lunch. I love how they offer Japanese street food and other dishes. You do not see at most restaurants. I wanted to try a few different items, so I ordered the octopus balls and big pancake. My husband had the chicken Katsu curry. His dish was crunchy and spicy and very tasty. I started my meal with a salmon, rice ball. It was delicious and a great way to start my meal the octopus balls were amazing, I also loved the pancake. It was huge and had so many different flavors and textures the pickled radish on top helped to balance it. We sat outside because they only have a few inside tables when the weather gets nice. I think it would be fun to get to go and eat in Miller Park. We can't wait to go back and try more dishes. read more

Looking for authentic delicious Asian food is difficult in Winston-Salem. Most of them seem to be in Greensboro. Except for Don Express, which is conveniently usually parked outside various breweries but mostly outside of Radar Brewery. I found this gem looking for delicious take out food during 2020 pandemic and I'm so happy I did. Now I no longer have to drive 40 minutes to get some takoyaki. The yakisoba is tasty and you get to choose your protein. Laden with yummy kewpie mayo and stir fried veggies. My other favorite is the takoyaki. You can tell it's so fresh because the batter isn't stale and has the perfect almost crispy mochi like texture and of course there's a good amount of octopus in there too. My other favorite is the katsu curry dish. Crispy chicken with a savory thick curry sauce over steaming jasmine rice with a fresh mixed green salad? Definitely my favorite dish. The ramen is pretty good - not a huge fan of the noodle texture , but I'm spoiled because I've had my fair share of delicious ramen and I would say some of their other food is much better - but the chasu pork might just be worth the whole dish. This food truck has been a staple during our quarantine, and we have almost worked through the whole menu. And we will keep going through it! Driving around catching Pokemon in the area and as we were ready to leave, saw this food truck by Radar today - two things we had only just noticed. Curious, we pulled into this corner of Industry Hill, down past Winston Junction Market to see what it was about. A sign on the food truck said that Ramen was only served Saturdays and we thought, wow, this must be fate. So we decided to take advantage. Two orders of Tokyo Delight Ramen and Gyozas later, we decided last minute to go home and enjoy them. The owner ran out after us with a bag asking if she could pack them because she didn't know we'd be taking them on the go. We didn't either, but it was so sweet she was genuinely concerned about making sure it was packed in a way that would guarantee its preservation. When we got home, I was pleasantly surprised by how well these noodles held up after the 15-minute drive. GREAT flavor from the broth, noodles tasted like tender-loving care, and I really loved how well-executed the medium-boiled eggs were. Hubby enjoyed the pork and thought they were yummy, but I prefer mine to be more tender, although the flavor was great! Gyozas were also great. Nothing extra to note there. It's been a while since I've been satisfied with ramen. I feel snooty and jaded being spoiled with a variety from my visit to Japan and having lived in NYC for over half a decade where they do it so well. So this was refreshing for me! I imagine that on a busier day, there would be a wait since the food here takes time to prepare. It's worth it though! Can't wait to try some of their other offerings next time. Quite frankly, I am not a fan of this type of food, but my wife loves it and wanted to try this place. We got some ramen, Takoyaki, seaweed salad and Katsu Curry which was much better than the rest. Here is the problem, the chicken in every meal but Katsu Curry, was awful, tasted way off and for sure the worst quality chicken I have seen in a restaurant. The average price most of their plates or bowls is around $17. Filled with mostly rice! At this price you better get fresh chicken for your customers, it is disgusting! read more

Sometimes I love this food truck, sometimes I'm like, why did I do this to myself again. We've settled that the squid salad, seaweed salad and gyoza are hits. The squid salad is so different than anything I've had around here and I love it. We got the yaki soba once annnnnd never again. Had this at Radar Brewing and the long line was worth it. The Tokyo Delight Ramen was such a flavorful smooth broth with pork, half soft egg with all the proper fresh ingredients to make this Ramen stand out from others. The portions here are decent so no complaints. The Gyoza appetizers were thin and not all dough which I love. The Yakisoba noodles with chicken was also my daughter's favorite. Seems these noodles are home made and not plain like most. They have flavor on there own. The Karaage Bento is their take on Japanese fried chicken. It is a perfectly breaded and seasoned chicken cutlet that rivals any Italian grandmas version. This place had a brick and mortar it would be my go to. read more

Small cozy little place. Super friendly staff. Great selection of Japanese street foods. I got the pork belly Ramen it was excellent the broth was super tasty and pork was tender. I also got a to go order of yokisoba chicken noodles. The takoyaki and the Osaka style pork pancake with vegetables. Everything was great if you are on Stratford road take the Knollwood Street exit behind the old Arby's and try this place out.Octopus was nice tender. read more

We went and spend the afternoon at Bailey Park today, after a pit stop at Radar Brewing Company to finally try this food truck everyone is raving about! Firstly, the food is cooked to order meaning it takes a while. If you're able to grab a beverage and wait that would be ideal. If you're waiting in the car with two small humans who want to test every button on the dashboard, it seems to drag a bit. They have a big menu that will take us more than one go to try but we got the okinomiyaki and the katsu bento box. I really liked the okinomiyaki! I've seen folks say it's as close to authentic as you can get, I have never had the real deal so I cannot speak to its authenticity but it is freaking delicious and HUGE. One of these guys can easily be an appetizer for 4-6 or entree for 2-3. It comes with some kind of pork on it that is incredibly tender. The sauces are delicious, the actual pancake/omelet is really tasty with a nice texture. The katsu we got was chicken, it was good, it wasn't something I'd choose again just because it felt like something you can get a lot of places. Next time I would stick with the more difficult to find options, but the katsu is a totally valid choice for the less adventurous friend in your group- yeah, that guy. The bento box has the chicken katsu, rice, some salad, literally one bite of seaweed salad that I was really amped to find, half a hard boiled egg, half a spring roll and a little bit of potato salad. It all tasted good, fine, but IMO wasn't the star. It's a LITTLE expensive, but the amount of food you get is really fair and the okinomiyaki is such an unusual find that $15 for it didn't feel ridiculously outlandish. For the katsu, again you've got the quantity but it wasn't exciting to me for the money. Solid 8/10 Japanese street food style restaurant. You can tell the owners put time and effort into all of the dishes and they had a larger menu than I was expecting. Let me begin by saying that I'm a huge ramen fan, I've been to hundreds of ramen joints around the country, so this may sound a bit critical. First, the tonkotsu broth was the best I've found in Winston-Salem. It had a combination of flavors and I can tell they put some time and thought into it. The noodles could have been better and I wish the egg had been soy marinated, rather than just soft-boiled. The pork chashu was a bit tough and tasted pretty fatty. Overall, still the best bowl I've found in the area. My girlfriend had a noodle bowl. It was a huge portion with a lot of good flavors and had been well prepared -- spicy mayo-style sauce on top, nice nori furikake topping, and a good amount of vegetables. We both split the gyoza and spring rolls. They were 4/5 and usually, these dished comes down to the sauce that comes with it. They each came with a packet of standard store-bought ponzu sauce. It would have been nice to have something homemade. Overall, good experience and great taste for a Saturday evening. We will be back. read more

This food truck is so delicious every time. I usually get the octopus balls which always come out crisp. Eat them fast before they get soggy! The food tends to run out later in the evening, especially the ramen, so I would recommend getting there earlier in the night. I have heard great things about pretty much everything on the menu and plan on working through it myself. The lady running it is from Japan and is super sweet. She's great to talk to if you're interested in her story. The food is comparable to NYC street fairs I've been to in authenticity and freshness, though the prices are higher. Was super excited to finally get some "authentic Japanese food" and was met with a pretty bad after taste. The ramen tasted nothing short of dirty dish water. We asked the guy at the counter if we can replace it with another dish and he rudely asked "is this something yall do? Taste something and get it for free?" They need to head back to the food truck days where the food didn't taste like it'd been sitting in a dish bath all day. I have to say being from Los Angeles I almost lost my mind when I saw they had a dish called yoshinoya style since that's one of my favorite restaurants from Los Angeles called yoshinoya. I gotta say they NAILED the dish even the red relish that I never seen served here in NC, the dish was delicious my only complaint is that they hardly gave me any meat it was mostly rice and for the price I paid almost 20 dollars for the dish was it worth it? Based on taste yes but they really gave me hardly any meat not sure if it was almost closing time and that's why but I'm going to go back and try again and hope they give me more meat. read more

I've tried all the Roman in the area it place is by far the best I have been to in the triad area.

The only place in Winston to go for good Ramen. However, it's quite a plain bowl with just noodles, 1/2 egg, and meat. No nori, bamboo shoots, or mushrooms. Additionally, my bowl had too much chili/additional oil. I'd prefer a higher ratio of broth. But overall, a enjoyable experience, definitely would recommend read more
