Green curry with tofu and chicken with mixed vegetables and brown rice
    Christa F.

I've not been to this restaurant since my days of working on Westchester. My friend suggested it and it did not disappoint. I had the green curry with spice level at a two which was hotter than I thought. It was still delicious. I added crispy tofu and replaced eggplant with broccoli. So good. My friend had chicken with mixed vegetables and brown rice and asked for extra vegetables, but did not get them originally. The gentleman eventually brought her the mixed vegetables and they looked pretty nice. They had soy sauce on the table, but it was a little saltier than expected. I wish they'd had the low sodium version which is usually really good. I will keep this one on the list as I'm a Thai lover And will visit more when I'm in the area.

Green Curry, Yellow Curry and Pad Thai. All excellent. Spice level 3. Next time 4! Very good Thai food in High Point with extremely friendly staff. Always consistently good.

We were craving a good Thai food and this place didn't disappoint. Service was quick and friendly, place is clean, quiet and intimate. We enjoyed the fresh roll and steamed shrimp dumpling and I loved the Thai chicken coconut soup. For my meal, I ordered the chicken larb salad level 4 spicy with side of jasmine rice and oh my god.. it was so spicy yet addicting. My cousin had the green curry beef level 2 spicy and it was also really spicy. So if you are novice on Thai spice try the level 1 first because the spicy here is no joke. You've been warned. BF had the beef and shrimp teriyaki that he devoured. It's authentic Thai food. Highly recommend this place!

Thai iced coffee and Sunkist raw sushi roll.

They have quick, polite service. I got the menu right away and ordered my beverage, Thai iced coffee..... delish, doesn't need sweetener or cream its all in there. My main light course was the Sunkist raw roll. It consisted of tuna, cucumber, topped w salmon and avocado priced at $12.95. Can't wait! Wholly molly its big and beautiful, 8 pieces! Prob taking some w me. Guess what, I ate all 8 pieces! Fresh and tasty and when I asked for a little more ginger they brought me alot! Yum! This place has my approval. This restaurant has many other menu items to check out, curry soups, pad thai, larb, pho, hibachi, raw or cooked sushi, they have everything covered if you like Asian. Its a quiet place around 5pm, seems like a good time to stop in, no waiting although it is worth any wait in my opinion.

My husband and I ordered this to be delivered via DoorDash. We would have rather went to them but we had an incredibly busy few days and were just too tired. We were worried about ordering sushi via DoorDash but WOW! This place is absolutely worth it! We got several rolls and they were absolutely delicious. The sashimi was so fresh and delicious. We have put this place on our "will order again" list as well as going to dine in as well.

Quick service, delicious hot curry with fresh carrots and potatoes, with an egg roll and salad included in the lunch special. So good on a rainy day. Exactly what I needed. The price is very affordable for a mini lunch feast!

And time and time again this place does not disappoint. If you want a satisfying lunch for a cheap price, come here! They have so many lunch special options and they all come with a spring roll (they call egg roll but it's a fried crispy spring roll. I got the yellow curry and boy was it delicious. Very tasty and well seasoned. The chicken was tender and there were lots of veggies! Will continue to eat here.

Terrible service and food were okay. Would go back if there weren't so many options available in the area. The server never checked on me once the food got to the table.

We were not disappointed! Amazing food. Like every single thing we get is just SO good. From the sushi, to the bang bang, to the sauces, to the rice, to the sesame chicken... you get the point. Even the Pepsi is excellent. The only downsides of this place is that it's a mostly serve yourself atmosphere after you get your meal. It would be nice if they included just a little one time check in to see if sauces or anything is needed. The floors are also SUPER slippery which is tough for disability flare ups. The service at the counter is friendly enough, and the options are great. I do wish we could have a little flexibility in the choose 3 meal plan, but I get it. Honestly the food is just so stellar it makes up for the rest and makes us keep coming back.

It's been a long long time since my last review of Shinko Grill, and really everything I wrote has…read moreexperienced some kind of change, so I wanted to update it for the post pandemic era. Since then, the half price sushi hours are no longer in effect, replaced with more standardized lunch specials and combinations. Three basic rolls for x, two specialty rolls for x, etc... as well as specials on hot food and the like. Due to this, I just haven't found myself there very often, and until my experience last week it had probably been two or three years honestly. We came during lunch hours on a Saturday. The lunch specials are good every day, not just weekdays, so that is a good thing. Ordering was simple enough, still done at the counter, given a number, go have a seat. Drinks still self-serve, no wait staff or the like which is totally fine. We ordered a general tso's chicken combination with fried rice and an egg roll, a basic two roll combination of sweet potato tempura and Ro Roll, and a two speciality roll combination that I honestly cannot remember the specific names of. There were also crab rangoons. My first area of dismay, even though we were eating there, everything came in to-go containers creating a ton of trash and waste. Plastic utensils, cups, everything. This was not the case in the past. I guess they've done the financial math that it's cheaper than dishwashing, but it's terrible for our environment. It would have been better if things even came combined on paper plates than this. As to the food, we were disappointed. Nothing other than the sushi and maybe soup appears to be made there, definitely true for all fried things. Rangoons came with plain duck sauce. Egg rolls the size of your index finger. Sushi wise, the sweet potato tempura roll was the best of the bunch. The fish tasted fine, nothing off putting there, but also nothing pleasant. The flavor combos just didn't make me want to eat more... and they were all crammed into to-go sushi trays with dry horseradish ("wasabi") It is not common for me to leave sushi pieces for the trash, but I did this time. Ultimately, the things that used to draw me here just didn't seem to be in place. But the price isn't bad at all. If you are more concerned with value, and don't mind some of the things I listed above, this place could work for you.

I happened to have reason to be in the shopping center one fateful day, and was hungry to boot. So I decided, I should stop in, if for nothing else, just to say I put it through it's paces. Inside, well, I kind of found what I expected. A well-worn restaurant, but importantly, very clean. Much of the decor has faded over time, but I don't see much reason to improve it. Looking into the kitchen, and just observing interactions, I would wager the same husband and wife combination have owned it the entire time. Though everything is dated, I do love that you can fully see the entire kitchen and sushi bar. I went for lunch, but was surprised there was not a lunch special menu of any kind. Standard in this area, you would usually find that. Same menu all day here. I ordered chicken yakisoba and a yellowfin scallion maki roll. Service was excellent, attentive but not overly so. You can tell the experience, as the same lady was working the whole place (about 8 tables occupied). My sushi roll came out first, no complaints. Fresh yellowfin tuna, the inclusion of scallions was a nice touch both for taste and texture. Appropriate amount of rice. This was great, maybe next time I will just go for sushi. My chicken yakisoba was a good portion, but I found it a bit bland generally. I asked for some ginger sauce to dip it in, and that helped a lot, but on its own I would have liked more flavor kick. The chicken however was cooked well, not dry at all. Overall, this place is not very close to me, but if in the area I would come again. I was just glad to have finally set foot in there after all this time, and find a family run place sticking to what they do best.

I liked the ambience of the restaurant and our server was pleasant. The orange dragon roll with mango was sublime and I will definitely return just for that. On the downside, I found the other things I ordered somewhat inedible. The edamame wasn't steamed enough so it was incredibly difficult to pop them out of their pods to eat. I got tired of trying. My friend ordered the vegetable tempura app and she offered me a sweet potato since that is my favorite. It hadn't cooked all the way through in the center so again difficult to eat. The other roll I ordered had eel in it. Now I have eaten quite a lot eel before but I never had tasted eel so chewy. The mouth feel was so gross that I ended up spitting it out. I think this place has a lot of good qualities so I am willing to give them another shot but I would like to remind their chefs to slow down to ensure that the food is cooked more properly so it would be more enjoyable to its patrons.

I don't see why more places don't do this, what an easy way to relieve your server of a common service pain point. There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. After placing a call to Little Tokyo to confirm they too weren't filled to capacity, we headed there for our sushi fix, and it made me regret not having visited sooner. Little Tokyo boasts a pleasant, relaxing ambiance that made it a welcome refuge from the night's rather intense rain. The menu here is Japanese (sushi, sashimi, hibachi, etc.) albeit with some Korean and Chinese influences. The selection of sushi rolls is extensive, and quite a few of them sounded intriguing. Admittedly, the Italian (a California roll topped with white fish, tomato sauce, and cheese) was a bridge too far even for me. My wife and I came hungry and went with two apps (steamed dumplings and vegetable gyoza), four rolls, and two misos. The food was, across the board, quite good. Whereas some miso can blast you with salt, Little Tokyo's broth benefitted from an underlying richness. Our sushi was beautifully plated and tasted fresh. Of the rolls we tried, the Bulgoki (beef, crab, cucumber, and eel sauce) was my favorite. Prices here are reasonable for the quality of the food (rolls in the low-mid teens, most apps under $10), and severs are polite. The kitchen isn't lightning fast, but we didn't find the wait unreasonable. Based on ratings, I expected "good," and based on hunger levels and a desire to be out of the rain, I would have settled for "OK." Little Tokyo, however, ended up being surprisingly great.
