It has been a while since I've been here and decided to give them another try. It was pretty good. The pizza was good. I think having an extra 5 minutes to make it more crisper would make it even better. The sub was a bit dry so I would suggest asking for more dressing if you get the Italian. Other than that, it was good. I feel the wings were my favorite food of choice between the 3. I wouldn't mind coming back for more, but like the pizza I mentioned, asking for extra time on the wings would make it even better. read more

Great food! A friend recommended them and they're close by. I always go with the double or thick crust whatever they call it and the XL pizza. The flavor is great and the pizza is huge for under $20. I always have to order 4-5 cups of their ranch because it's addicting and their sauce cups are great for the crust. I've never had a bad experience here! This place is great! read more

We wanted to try something new so I called and picked up a large pizza and two chicken parm subs. They said it would be twenty minutes and it was! The kids liked the subs and the pizza was pretty darn good. The crust was slightly overdone but I love it that way. Delivery to about a mile away was quoted as 1.75 which I think is totally doable. Although they messed up my order and the entry to the place is a bit awkward, the pizza was great. Decided to check out Don Gino's Pizza tonight. Val-Pak coupon special of a 14" One item Pizza and a Garlic Bread with cheese for $14.95. Very good deal. We had the pepperoni which was a coarse meaty type, it had a nice layer of cheese on it. The sauce was a really fresh tasting tomato based sauce. Yummmy!! The garlic cheese bread was really loaded with cheese and a nice garlic flavor to it. Counter gentleman was super nice even with the temperature over 90 degrees. The Stromboli had such strong reviews, I felt it was a must have. I was a little worried about sauce, so I ordered an extra. Very, very disappointed. It came out burnt and as you can definitely see and I did not need an extra sauce. I told the gentleman on the phone that this was my first order; it will be my last. This place isn't in the safest of neighborhoods, but it is worth the drive for a good calzone. I ordered a pepperoni and sausage and it was delicious. After my wife's mom was released late in the afternoon on Wednesday from Doctor's Hospital, we were all hungry and thought we might order Italian subs and pizzas for the eight of us. Normally, from the west side of Columbus, I would suggest getting pizza from Joseppi's Pizza, (especially the store on Sullivant Ave.) But, everyone else wanted to order from Don Gino's instead and since I'd never eaten the food from D.G.'s, I went with the majority decision. The prices were awesome even without getting the Monday special price of large 1-item pizza for only $6.95. The normal price for two pepperoni and cheese pizzas is only $19.95 (again, a great deal). We also ordered two other extra-cheese pizzas and 4 Italian subs that we planned to share. Next time I think I'll order light sauce on the pizza and Italian dressing on the side of the subs. I don't know if we were asked about the sauce we wanted or if we wanted the dressing for the subs on the side or not. So, I can't fault Don Gino's for that. For an early evening order, the food was ready in about 30-40 minutes, which was a fair speed for the amount of food we ordered. And, the food was really hot, which means it didn't sit around to get cold. And, they move food out pretty quickly so that everything is ready at the designated time. The double-cheese was especially good and the pepperoni pizzas had lots of meat spread throughout each of the pies. The Italian subs were full of Italian meats; Genoa salami, Capocollo ham, pepperoni, and maybe Italian mortadella (sausage), salty cheese like sliced provolone, sliced onion and of course iceberg lettuce and just the right Italian seasoning on a fresh, baked sesame seed Italian sub bun. read more

Quirky - the door being on the side of the store. Large windows to see in, but if you're stopping by for the first time, it might take you a second to realize the entrance is not out front. Old checkered linoleum floor. Obviously years of being walked on. But the walls were covered with new dry wall. Since there's no tables during their renovations, we had to order, wait and take it home to chow down. The few yelp pics of Don's Stromboli looked good, so me and my sister decided to share. Our Stromboli (three toppings): Sauage, mushroom and green peppers. We also go the Antipasto salad to split. We waited a little less than 20 minutes. The smells? Oh man!! Amazing whiffs of pizza/spices. Box was warm all the way through. Stromboli was super good! Came with a large tin of pizza sauce. I actually like the tomato concoction. I'm not sure if they make it from scratch... It has a mild sweeter flavor, as opposed to a bitter, tangy taste (a personal yuck!). The The bread had a light garlic butter swiped on top. Oregano. Great dough! And the toppings were abundant! Tons of mozzarella cheese. The sausage - that was different: broken up crumbles. I liked that it wasn't just chunks. This pizza really hit the spot for us. We wanted to try a local pizza spot and this one seemed to be only take out. They do charge $4.50 for delivery too which isn't bad. We ordered a pizza and garlic bread and some cheese sticks to share with a group and it all came out great! We ordered on a Saturday night and it was ready in 10 minutes for carry out. After seeing the place, it's definitely not the type of place you would eat in but the food is great, very reasonably priced and we will order from here again. You just don't know what to expect when walking into Don Gino's. Literally, the front windows are covered up and there's no front door. Instead, you have to pull open the windowless steel door on the windowless side of the building and take your chances. Of course your encouragement comes from the fantastic smells that somehow waft through all of this cinder block and steel out into the parking lot. Once inside, you'll find a large empty "waiting room" with a checkerboard floor and a few chairs scattered about (no tables, this is take-out and delivery only). Service is super friendly and attentive. Taking a cue from other Yelpers, I made the stromboli the main event and ordered up a small pep and shroom for posterity purposes. The pizza is a traditional Ohio style. The thin, crispy crust is very buttery, leaving behind a greasy cardboard box (and a greasy car seat). The toppings are all decent, but nothing spectacular. Kee's review had my mouth watering, so I infringed on his stromboli order with the meatball, bacon and onion combo. The stromboli is gigantic. The dipping sauce was nice, with the right sweet/tart balance. I enjoyed the flavor of the stromboli, but it was also fairly greasy and loaded up with a TON of cheese. If you like cheese, this is for you. The cheese was a lot too much for my tastes. At the end of the day, Don Gino's is A-OK. Not spectacular, but definitely quality. I enjoyed the food, but it's a bit off of my beaten path to make it a regular haunt. read more

The pizza was rally greasy though, which is kind of expected of pizza. I did carry out and had friendly service on the phone and also when picking up my pizza.
