We just moved in down the street and I was eager to try a local spot- I landed on Don Ho and I'm glad I did! I ordered around noon on a Wednesday, and only had to wait about 10/15 minutes. When I arrived it felt like I was transported back to COVID times, they have closed the inside of the restaurant and it's only take out. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking, you walk in and ring the bell. The woman working was super friendly and was fast with checking me out. As I walked back to the car I was surprised how heavy my bag felt. When I got back to the office and opened my box I was shocked at how much food there way- enough for two- maybe even three people to share, all for $12! I went with the chicken lo mein lunch special with fried rice and cream cheese puffs. Everything was great and was piping hot. I knew I had to tell others about Don Ho and that's what I did. My best friend and I literally randomly stumbled upon Don Ho Chinese Restaurant. True story, we were waiting for a table to open up across the street and decided to just walk the short distance and see if the ice cream shop was open, nope, but Don Ho Chinese Restaurant was, and decided to get a little snacky snack before dinna. I'd say we have priorities. An order of wontons it was and let me just say...we love us some wontons and OH. MY. GOODNESSSSS.....These are the real deal! They were a ton in an order. They were HUGE, crispy, hot, and stuffed to perfection.... Chefs kiss!!! The cream cheese was whipped just right and the flavor was on point. Happy dance, happy dance, happy dance..... yup, we really did that. In my eyes, these are a ONE bite wonton (bite the cream cheese side first and enjoy the crunch) and every bite was YUMMMMOOOO! I've been coming here for at least 10 years. unbelievable experience yesterday. Food was packaged in styrofoam which led to a HUGE MESSY blowout! The owner made a huge deal about a refund. I had picked this up at 11:30 am for coworkers and I worked until 7. This was our first time trying Don Ho. Who doesn't love Chinese food take out on a cold Saturday night? They only do take out right now and they only accept phone call orders. It's a little challenging finding their online menu because they don't even have a website. We tried the garlic chicken, house lo mein, and combo dinner that came with sesame chicken, fried rice and cream cheese puffs. The combo dinners are a great deal! For around ten bucks you get a ton of food! Usually combo options are smaller portions at other places but not here. Four cream cheese puffs came with the combo, I was expecting one or two. I do agree with what others have said about the sesame chicken. There was wayyy too much breading on them. The taste itself was great but the breading eventually got soggy. I really loved their fried rice and garlic chicken. That chicken wasn't breaded and came with a lot of veggies. The garlic sauce was excellent! As for the lo mein, I can't agree with it being the best in the cities. The noodles were a little too thin for me and I wanted a little more veggies. Probably the worst Chinese food ever had! I ordered the House Lo Mein w/chicken, pork, and shrimp, and my wife had the sesame chicken combo. My lo mein dish was dry and tasted old, like it was made the day before and reheated. The shrimp was cooked fine, but the small pork and chicken strips were very dry and tasteless. It was a big brown mess with a few pieces of onion but no other vegetables, color, or flavor. My wife's sesame chicken was hard to tell if there was any sesame on it. Was in the area for a sports event and wanted to see if could find some Chinese food. They are located in a small strip mall, a bit on the small side for the dining area but looks more popular for take out. Staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered Won ton soup, chicken fried rice, sesame chicken, chicken lo mein, and egg rolls. Won ton soup is for my daughter who likes just the won tons, no complaints from her. Sesame chicken was ok, the sauce wasn't quite as spicy as I am used to but used nice big chucks of white meat. Egg rolls were basic with more veggies then meat but be warned that the spicy mustard is very spicy. Chicken Lo Mein was good with thinner noodles, white meat chicken, and a good sauce although a bit more veggies could be mixed in. Chicken Fried Rice was on par with the Lo Mein with white meat chicken, good sauce but could use a bit more veggies mixed in. Overall a decent little Chinese place to visit if in the area. read more

I used to live across the street from Don Ho's, for almost 14 years it was my go to place for a great evening meal. Even when I moved down to Shakopee for 6 years I still stopped here for one of their combination dinners or chicken chow mein. And now after 6 years of being back in Bloomington I am still stopping there and loving the food. Even when they went through a change of owners, the new owners kept all of the original recipes and the qualify of the food stayed as high as it had previously been.
