Even though it was jam packed our party of three were able to get seated very quickly! It's very lively at the restaurant so it's always a great place to eat with friends! The new menu is amazing the Birria fajita was crazy good, it came out sizzling and was delicious!

Late dinner for us. Typical Mexican restaurant. The chips were stale and food lacked flavor. The Sopapilla's were great. No reason to visit again.

Staying at a hotel near the airport overnight for a medical procedure Monday morning. We found this place on Yelp with 4 Stars and decided to try it since it was 500 yards away from the hotel. Bad mistake! Not sure what qualities of Mexican food the previously reviews were compared to, but this place was lacking in every way. We were greeted and seated right away. Typical Mexican Restaurant decor. 1st off, our chips were stale, sauce was tasteless. Our Server was polite and seemed helpful but there was a definite language barrier requiring several broken English translations. I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail with fresh Jalapeños and Ceviche. To my surprise, they left the tails on all the shrimp in the cocktail and I almost choked on the 1st bite. Now the Ceviche was very fishy, and really lacking in layers of flavor. Just goes to show that not all 4 & 5 Star reviews on Yelp meet the same standards we base our restaurant reviews on.

Very solid choice for Tex-Mex. Was able to accommodate a party of 20 ppl. Server was patient and all order came out correctly. Chips and salsa were good. Street tacos (carne asada) were good as well. Food presentation was nice too.

Got the Margherita flight, Mexican corn, chciken fajitas, and sampler. Food was good except the chili relleno, which tasted like spinach with a processed cheese sauce. Ground beef seemed to be a lesser quality, as did the shredded cheese. Yet, the waitstaff was wonderful, and food came out quickly. The restaurant is fairly large and has a great ambiance. I did notice that the "suggested tip" at the bottom of the receipt was wrong. The "1" was missing. If someone purely went on the suggested tip listed on the receipt and didn't do the math, they would be short changing the waitress significantly. For example, on my $78 bill, the suggested tip was $2.48 , which isn't even 10%. I brought this to the attention of the restaurant, but please do the math if you come here.

Good bar, nice service. Give you a mini carafe of salsa with your chips. The adios amigo is a giant glass of AMF that evidently "gets the job done". Birria tacos and nachos supreme are delicious.

    Chesse chile relleno

Love the cheese chile relleno and the unlimited house fresh hot chips and salsa. Service is always great, restaurant always packed. Wish there was a ramp inside for assistance with wheelchair/stroller or just extra help getting to the 2 step area of the restaurant but besides that good ambiance, food and service.

    Chicken and steak fajitas dinner

Waiter was so sweet and quick to bring out our drinks and food. The chips and salsa was good we had to ask for another basket lol. I order the Don Jose sampler due to I wasnt very hungry but that sampler was ALOT and so good. Daughter had the chicken and steak quesadilla dinner with rice and beans. She thought it was very delicious. Definitely plan to come back! Restaurant was a good size and seemed well cleaned.

I was staying at the DoubleTree across the street and decided to give Don Jose's a try and I'm really glad I did! It was a short wait for a table and service was great, chips and salsa were good and the top shelf margaritas were great. I ordered the cookout fajitas for 1 and they were delicious, the chicken and steak were served as a whole piece and they were very tender and moist, the shrimp a chorizo were also cooked and seasoned perfectly. I will definitely return and order this again on a future trip

A few years ago I had been to La Tia in Metairie, and it left a serious impression. What stuck with me most were the craft cocktails...creative, clever, and a little bit mischievous. I still remember one in particular: a Mexican-inspired cocktail with mezcal and beet juice that somehow managed to taste like summer decided to take a vacation south of the border. It was the kind of drink that makes you pause mid-sip and say, "Okay... whoever thought of this deserves a raise." Somehow the place drifted off my radar over time. But when the craving for Mexican food hit, it popped right back into my head. I was excited to bring my son and daughter-in-law since they had never been. Unfortunately... the reunion didn't exactly go as planned. Two things hit me immediately while looking over the menu. First: the craft cocktails were gone. Not "different." Not "updated." Just... gone. Replaced with the same drinks you see in every other Mexican restaurant. Second: the prices nearly made me spit out the water I hadn't even ordered yet. $6 for a Corona. $18 for a basic burrito with fries. $10 for a kids plate over chicken tenders and some fries. And not the old La Tia burritos either...the ones I remembered piled high with rich molé, bright verde sauces, and layers of flavor that made you wonder if you should be taking notes. Nope. Now we're talking about a plain flour tortilla with some ground meat inside, no sauce, and a side of what looked suspiciously like freezer-aisle French fries. For eighteen dollars. My daughter-in-law ordered the fajitas, and honestly... they were rough. Thin strips of overcooked meat that looked like they had taken a brief vacation in a plastic bag before hitting the grill...served on a plate. Lately I've gotten into the habit of pulling up Yelp photos to compare dishes from past years, and I did exactly that. I found a photo of the same fajitas from about three years ago...big, juicy steak pieces, sizzling on cast iron and full of life. What we got looked like it came from a completely different restaurant. To be fair, my shrimp tacos were actually pretty good. Nicely cooked shrimp, decent flavor, and probably the lone bright spot of the night. But overall, it felt like the La Tia I loved had quietly packed up and left the building. The elevated Mexican food? Gone. The rich sauces? Gone. The inventive cocktails that made the bar worth sitting at? Also gone. In their place: food that feels pulled from a bag... at prices that feel pulled from a luxury menu. It's a tough thing when a restaurant you once loved loses its spark. But sadly, this visit felt less like a reunion and more like running into an old friend who has completely changed--and not for the better. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see myself returning to La Tia anytime soon. Turns out the only thing that stayed spicy... was the price tag.

The waitresses were kind and quick to take my order. I ordered a simple fried fish and a queso for an appetizer. The queso was simple and just ok. The salsas were not spiced at all and were very watery. The dish came and it was extremely greasy, I get that it's a fried dish but at least let some of the oil drip off before plating. I used several napkins to try to take off some of the excess oil. The fries were very soggy and not seasoned at all and the fish looked appetizing but when I bit into it, it had no flavor whatsoever. The texture was there and it looked like it was going to taste good but it fell extremely short in taste. On the flip side, the beans were overly seasoned. The rice was also lacking salt. I felt bad when the waitress came to ask me how everything was. I had to tell her that they completely forgot to season my food. She apologized and I said it wasn't her fault and asked for my check and told her she might want to tell the chef to not forget the salt next time. Overall the place was nice for group gatherings, although the music was a little loud, they also had several TVs playing different things. Maybe I selected the wrong dish but I have to say I won't be going here again when I want a good Mexican seafood. I'll have to check out their other dishes and hope they're much better. For now they won't be added on my places to frequent during my work trips.

Not a "maybe it needs attention." I am talking full, undeniable, immediate presence of Satan's butthole. One step inside and your body goes, "Absolutely not." Every time I've been here. Every.
