The manager Martha is very rude to her hostess and she doesn't give a care in the world to the customers because she didn't help us at all when our food was gross and our cheese sauce was burned. She just said sorry and left into the kitchen and never came back. read more

Where do I start? I came with a big party so the wait time is understandable not a problem, but what is a problem is flies. I had to swat so many flies away from my food I could hardly eat it, not that I wanted to anyway. A/C was out in the room we were in and it's about 90 degrees out today plus they didn't have any blinds on the window so we had the evening sun beating down on us. Visiting Ennis on business, asked for a recommendation for Mexican and ended up here. Came for an early dinner on the weekend, was seated immediately. Chips were standard fare, salsa was a touch on the spicy side, but decently flavored. Ordered the triple meat fajitas for $12.99. Came with chicken, steak, and sausage. Not sure how they expected me to fit a half of a sausage into a tortilla, but it was tasty on its own. Very large portion size on the meat. Came with the standard lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, cheddar cheese, pico. Definitely filling and decently priced. Service was fast and excellent. Restaurant is nicely decorated. read more

I came here to have dinner while in town visiting family and the service was terrible. The hostess told us the wait would be 20-25 minutes And we waited over an hour. To add insult to injury, this group of 4 came in after us and was told there was a 25 minute wait only to be seated ahead of us less than 5 minutes later. After that I asked for the manager who seated us almost immediately after that. When we got to the seating area, there were at least 4 other open booths available. When we got the chips and salsa, the chips were stale and all broken into little pieces. One might expect that if we had showed up closer to closing time but it was only 8pm! The manager obviously knew we had an unpleasant experience but didn't offer anything but an insincere sorry for our trouble. If he had made us feel that he valued our business then we might consider returning but the impression he left us with was that he was accustomed to complaints of unsatisfactory service. read more

We were just passing through and decided to stop. They have daily specials that include weekends and at dinner time. Margarita specials on Saturday $6.50 and they are good and strong! We started with a side order of guacamole which was fresh and good. The salsa was good, but not spicy enough for my taste. We both got the loco dinner. Two cheese enchiladas with your choice of sauce, rice, beans, queso tostada and taco for $9.95. Everything was tasty!! If you're not a fan of cilantro this is your place! Our waitress, Liz was awesome! Very friendly and made our experience that much better. The two plates and one margarita cost $27. A great value as neither of us could finish all of the food. Went in for lunch and I was not disappointed! My food was delicious, I had the chicken pasta with the raja sauce. Erik Chavez our server was very attentive and nice, he recommended adding the raja sauce to my pasta and I'm glad I took his suggestion totally would recommend to anyone in the area who needs that Tex-mex fix. read more

In town for an event this weekend and stopped here to have some Mexican food while the rain cleared. There were already people waiting and the "hostess" said it was a 15-20 minute wait... ok.... so we sit at the bar and wait forever to get served drinks (any drink) then we over hear some people who waited over an hour to get their order taken and they walked out along with another family who was waiting for a table. Along with our margaritas, that had zero tequila, we paid our tab and left after waiting for so long. Also forgot to mention there were quite a few tables that were empty but no waiters apparently ‍. Not sure why all the negative reviews. Must be folks that don't like Texmex. If you're in the mood for Texmex, this place will satisfy your needs. Tasty food, great specials and good prices. There food is good but our experience is the reason for the 1 star and why we won't be returning. We have ate at this restaurant for years and I have always gotten the same thing. My meal always comes with lettuce, pico, sour cream and guac. I don't eat guac and have always substituted it for more sour cream and instead of the pico have always gotten jalapenos. Tonight they charged us for an entire meal once you total each side/garnish item up and we were never told that was happening until we got the bill. The manager wasn't budging and the server told us how he had told other tables and they were fine with all the extra charges but we were not aware of it until we got the bill. They said that is how they are doing things now sorry. I told the manager tell your server sorry because that is his tip that's an entire meal and if I didn't eat my pico and you aren't substituting then why did we also get charged for the pico he said because it wasn't on my plate. I am shocked and the customer service was a huge fail and because of that we won't return. Tamollys in Waxahachie has the exact same meal I get for cheaper just as good and they don't charge for the garish. Huge fail with us tonight Don Jose's we are very disappointed and I am sure we won't be the last. read more

Drove tonight from Waxahachie to pick up chicken fajitas to go. The chicken wasn't completely cooked -- very rubbery. The corn tortillas were cold and broken in half. I ordered a large queso but received a half filled container. This has been my favorite place to get fajitas for several years. This will be my last trip to Don Jose's. Very disappointing. read more

My family and I went here for dinner this evening and was slightly disappointed. This was our 2nd time ever here and our first experience was fantastic-great service and food. This time was a bit different. Our food took literally over 40 mins to come out-for a order of enchiladas, fajitas, and a kids pizza. The thought of just getting up and walking out crossed my mind several times while we were waiting. The only thing that made the experience not completely awful was our sweet waitress. She was very attentive the entire time...even though 80% of our time in the restaurant was just waiting. When the food finally came out, it was pretty good with only a minor mistake. We come here pretty often. The cheese enchiladas are the best ever. Seriously, ever! The fajitas are awesome too. Service is really fast. However, we always sit in the bar area and it's usually super messy and the staff always makes excuses about the day crew leaving it messy and how's it's not there job to clean it. We usually have to wipe down our own table and seats even though there's normally only one other table occupied. The last time we went, two of the servers were sitting in the booth next to us on their break I guess. The guy had his hand down the front of the girls pants and they kept making out. Not sure how the food is, it's been an hour and we are still waiting. There is no one to ask about it as it seems all the servers are hiding in the back. Sometimes the service is good, then other times it isn't, but the biggest issue I have is other than their nachos nothing else is that good. They have huge margaritas that taste good. Their enchiladas are bland, their rice doesn't seem to have enough flavor, the tortillas taste worse than the store bought mission, and for me if you can't get that down right you're establishment isn't good. When I brought this to my waiter attention they informed the Manager.
