I tried it and will not go back. Before I placed my order I asked what was on the nachos as I do not like a bunch of onions and tomatoes and other things. I like to keep it simple. The girl told me meat cheese guacamole sour cream and pico. I said hold the pico and guac. When I got my order it was loaded with tomatoes and onions. You would think when I said hold the pico de gallo they would understand tomatoes and onions are a no go but not this place. I ate around it as much as I could. The cheese was not melted and the entire thing was cold. They don't clean off the tables after someone has eaten there and most of them were a mess. This place is definitely a one and done for me. Stopped by after hiking for a bite. I've been excited to try this place since Josh F. spoke so highly about it. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. I got a fish taco, an al pastor taco, and a burrito (thanks for the coupon, Josh!). Everything was pretty tasty. The al pastor had good flavor and a nice crispness. I wish I had some grilled pineapples with it though. The fish taco was decent and had a good batter. Pretty good! The staff is super nice most of the time & the food is good. The tortillas are definitely lacking and are dry and cracked. I usually get it to go and use my own tortillas. When I called, she sat down the phone and didn't pick it up for 15 minutes. I ordered a number 15 with a chili Riano. I asked for no rice and just beans and when I got home, there was no chili Reno and the meal is mostly beans. Better to go sit down for your meal. read more

You know how your mom makes that one dish just the way you like it and whenever you order it out from a restaurant, they've added all kinds of nonsense to "spice it up" or "breathe new life into a classic" or whatever, and it's utterly ruined? The food was still good but I also like to feel appreciated when I choose a restaurant. The staff has always been non-verbal ever since I come to this place. They take my order and that is that. Never really bothered me before but tonight was different. My order was $46 including a tip, I paid extra because I had to place my order through Yelp because no one picked up the phone the two times I tried to call. Figured this was ok, didn't mind but I had to pay $2 extra for each soda doing this but still ok with it. Paid for salsa. Horchata was awful. No flavor and watered down. No salsa was enclosed. Went back to get salsa. Staff is not rude but not friendly or apologetic for not including items. I was not rude and just walked away feeling sad as I drove a very long ways to patronize my favorite Mexican spot. Times have been hard and I was looking forward to this treat. The search continues.. Today I was in Gresham and remembered yelpers chatting me up on this Mexican place, so I had to try it out. right? While I'm on my endless Portland search for the best tacos, I pretty much do this move. I order what I call the taco trinity. Carnitas, Al Pastor and Carne Asada. Here is my take away today. Friday lunch time visit, it was not at all crowded. Al Pastor Taco- this was off the mark, not even close to what I believe it should taste like. This one had zero heat, zero sweetness, zero flavor and it was cut into square pieces. was it pre-packaged pork?.. Carnitas Taco- oh boy, this one was the best of the bunch but, after they slow cook and shred the pork, it is SO important to throw them in the broiler or grill or fry them to get that wonderful char. This is a MUST for carnitas. This place did not do that last step, thus it was just soft pork meat with not much flavor or seasoning to help it. Try a little oranges, cumin and onion in the process. Carne Asada- the texture was good but the seasoning and the cut was less than perfect. The meat was almost grounded. This meat was pre-packaged, IMO. How do I know...well, when it's ground up like this, I know suppliers process it for restaurants this way. This is how they keep cost down. Ok. Wow. I'm still trying to figure how this place still sits at 4 stars when I've gone here twice and consistently gotten equally subpar and/or poor quality food and service equally. Everything is great until after the food is ordered and then everything tanks after that. The first time my wife and I came here, we ordered the mojarra and super nachos with al pastor and extra beans with a couple of sodas. Pretty basic stuff. With a couple people in front of us...took almost 25 mins. My nachos sat waiting for 5 mins until my wife's order finished just so they could say my name once. Even though, my wife enjoyed her mojarra frita (fried tilapia) I was disappointed. I will applaud for the amount of cheese they put on but the plate/al pastor was cold and, of course more chips than you can shake a stick than anything else. The one thing that aggravates me was they served the nachos with black beans?? Hello? How the heck do you get anything to stick to the chip? Obviously, not with black beans. Not convinced I got extra, either. Unfortunately, was late to another engagement to complain about it. $20+ in, strike one. I went here today and ordered 3 rolled shredded beef tacos and 2 fish tacos (highly recommended by cashier). Again, one person ahead of me and still waited past 15 mins to get my order when others past me got their order, wth? The order looked good when I got it but as I started eating through it, it got worse. The first fish taco was heavily breaded with some fish and had ZERO crunch to it, I mean, NONE. It was a bit fishier tasting than I expected. The second was horrendous. Had almost no fish and had the same resemblance of a hush puppie. I would have had better odds ordering at Long John Silver than this with same quality. Utter garbage. Threw it away. The rolled shredded beef tacos were tasteless and dry with no flavor. Had to dip them into their diluted guacamole salsa to add some flavor. Must be another cost saving method on their part. This is supposed to be a taco shop with fast service that supposedly specializes in tacos but yet falls short on even the most basic items in terms of quality and execution. If you only care about quantity for the price over quality, this place is for you. Otherwise, I will only recommend this place to the enibriated crowd. Good luck! read more

Pretty standard americanized Taco shop plus a few staple not so common menu items for variety. They have all the standard faire done well and reasonably priced. They also have a wide variety of salsas at the bar so bang for the buck is pretty much amazing. read more

Came here on a Thursday night on a whim. It was the only Mexican shop open that had a Carnitas plate in town. When hubby ordered apparently it was the special of the day, so we ordered that as well as a few tacos. I had asked if they could swap my rice for more beans and they were not willing to do it because "it was the daily special." That makes absolutely no sense why they couldn't swap the side of rice for extra beans. Shows lack of customer service and satisfaction concern. The salsa bar looked vast but was actually lackluster. None of the red sauces were very spicy and most of them were basically flavorless. There was one particular green salsa that was passable but not at all on a list of enjoyable sauces. The pickled carrots were soft and Mild as are most pickled carrots in town. I haven't found a single shop that knows how to make pickled spicy carrots correctly since none of them or spicy at all. When I received my food I went home to eat it and I was not very impressed. The guac I had asked to not be given was in fact smothered all over every item in my to-go box. The Carnitas were not carnitas, it was more like a pork mush. There were no meaty shreds nor chunks of pork but in fact a wet and cat food like consistency. Kind of hard to mess up Carnitas don't you think? The beans were Eh and I didn't bother to eat the rice because nobody here knows how to make good Spanish rice. I had to use a lot of lime and green salsa to give the food some flavor other than just salt. Because I was hungry I ate it but I absolutely did not enjoy it the way I would enjoy a half-assed plate of carnitas. I'll give them points for being open late and their prices but for the quality I would rather just suck it up and wait to appease my craving when a good Mexican spot is open. What a surprising find for Oregon. We are in town to go see the waterfalls and stopped here on our way to them. Service nothing to shout about there just there to cook you food. Everyone in our party got breakfast burritos. Portions were generous. I had a bacon breakfast burrito and it was a good balance of all the ingredients in the tortilla. We didn't try any of the other foods just know this is pretty solid quick place for breakfast. Also good assortment of salsas at the little bar. read more
