Ive lived around here for over half my life so I've been coming here a long time, since before they changed their name and staff. I love this place so much, the food is always so good and the staff is the absolute kindest and so friendly. The food is always delicious, the chips are always fresh and warm, the salsa is so flavorful and the restaurant itself is decorated beautifully. I really like the food but they raised their prices so much since we ate there last. We don't go as often now because it is so expensive.

Great service. Fast and friendly. They accommodated my substitutions with no problem and no extra charges. Looks like they did an interior remodel since the last time I was there. The bar area looks classy and comfortable. Gonna come back to watch some sports here. read more

I ordered the wet hamburger (dog food really) burrito with the rice and beans on the side and not in my burrito. It all tasted ok at first. Then, when I was eating it I noticed that the dog food, I mean hamburger meat (which looks like the same taco meat you will find at Taco Bell) was pink and a little undercooked. I told the waitress that the what ever it was kind of meat was pink and undercooked while showing her a pink piece of dog food/ I meat meat. She said it was because of the paprika that they put on the meat. I was like no I don't think so. She said yes they cook it in a big pot and that's what it looks like. Well it was pretty nasty and I only ended up eating my rice and beans. And nope, they did not comp me for my $17.00 burrito. The two meals costs $33.00 something. I tipped her $3.00. So crap rolls down hill from her to her cook. Tell the chef to cook the meat better and more so you can get a tip lady. Don't serve crap food up the quality of your food and quit charging outlandish prices for dog food and/or Taco Bell quality food. read more

Our first visit since this place changed owners and name. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. But the food was not even close to what we expected. My grandson ordered Carne' Asada, my wife a Camarones Burrito and I ordered my favorite Mexican comfort food, Arroz con Pollo. The chips and salsa were delicious. However, the Carne Asada was jerky-like and the rice tasteless. My wife's burrito was bland and my dish was not very tasty. There was a massive amount of mozzarella-like cheese covering the rice (which is not typical of this dish), the sauce looked good but did not taste like anything Mexican. The chicken was overcooked and unseasoned. I sure hope they take note of this and other reviews and get some help with making authentic Mexican food. This is entirely too Americanized. read more

The ambiance and service were amazing! The place is very pretty and clean. Staff was very friendly, prompt to take our order, and really patient with our kids -- thank you so much for that! The food was DELICIOUS. We had the guacamole as an appetizer and it was very fresh and delightful. All the chips they bring out are warmed up -- yummm! Our table ordered enchiladas, a burrito, and a taco plate. Everything comes with a generous amount of really well prepared Mexican rice and beans. The portions were just right ... This is American Mexican food. BUT... it is good American Mexican food. My family has come here 6 times, and I have gotten 6 different items for myself. Every dish has been hot, full of flavor, and worth the price. The liquor pours are solid, and the atmosphere/service is friendly. We love La Costita! It's been in Troutdale since early 2000s or so, but around Portland before that. We were trying to decide dinner one night with family and brought La Costita up, and they were super excited cause it was one of their favorites, too. Now it's our spot to meet. My favorite is the different size margaritas you can get. Holy guacamole they are good and dangerous.! Due to COVID, it's to-go only, but we would enjoy sitting in the bar watching the games. Service is always friendly and speedy! Nice location and Cute restaurant, too. Our main order usually is Camarones La Costita, and the Chimichangas! Yum. We treat ourselves with the churros too- they come with ice cream and chocolate sauce and are delicious all together! Highly recommend. read more

I've struggled with the food quality, poor service and high price. They have a few very good servers, unfortunately it's not worth going back. Tonight, I showed up at 8:29, they close at 9. I finished my phone call by the front door, there were 3 employees in the "lobby". At 8:31 I walked in and waited in the deserted lobby for 2 minutes. Don't even bother especially if you have had good Americanized Mexican food. I got the deluxe tostada with shredded beef and rice and beans and it was completely flavorless. Like nothing. This would be a good restaurant for my elderly in laws who have no sense of taste. And I even gave it some time to get into the dish but still, no flavor whatsoever. My husband got 2 basic tacos - chicken was cold and flavorless as well. Plus the chips were a lot like store bought bagged ones just warmed up and we were charged $1 for 1 chip bowl refill. Just had Pelines' cater a party for 40, and it was absolutely perfect. We requested everything from Chile rellenos to chicken fajitas. Rodrigo showed up with his toddler son and wife a half hour early, and delivered an absolutely eye popping amount of well... everything !! But please understand, we're already regulars at his restaurant so we knew the quality of his food. Nobody would want the rating to be based on quantity alone, so I'll just state simply: Rodrigo makes the best Mexican food in an area with a TON of Mexican restaurants to choose from. Literally everything was absolutely delicious, still warm, and most of our guests were already there and ready to dig in. We had so many compliments and I suspect Pelines has so many new clients that I had to write this. Need I say more ?!! read more

YUMMY! Not the BEST Mexican food I've had but this place does it quite nicely. I'd say a notch up from your typical Americanized Mexican joint. The staff is super friendly and the service is great. Last night I tried out the chicken fajitas....and although a bit spendy ($15) it was more than enough food. I took home plenty of left overs. The fajitas came with the typical grilled onions and green peppers on a skillit. The chicken was dark meat....which interestingly enough I've never really seen being served. Tasted fine, but wish it was white meat. It was also served with the normal rice, beans, guac/sour cream, and some pretty darn delicious flour tortillas.They of course also serve chips with semi-chunky salsa with a hit of spicyness that I couldn't stop eating. So, so good. Try the margaritas. Mix the bended flavors. Mango-Strawberry...FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC. Their Happy Hour....not too shabby. Priced very well and you get plenty of food. I'd suggest the nachos or enchiladas all for under $5. read more
