Found this place by accident when I was looking for coffee and a sweet. The Cafe Con Leche is amazing! The staff is very friendly. I've had several different pastries and all have been delicious. The pastry dough is super flaky and buttery. My favorite is the cheese pastry. The guava pastry is also excellent. The beef empanada was very large and had a good amount of filling. I've been here twice and the cold desserts always looked great, but tasted stale and plastic tasting. My wife likely got sick from the cheesecake. No dates on any of the items so you don't know how long they've been out or even when they were made. On the plus side the hot pastries have been good. Don Pan is supposed to be carrying Venezuelan dishes or at least have have options to offer the huge Venezuelan community in Tampa and South Florida in general and I'm more than disappointed that the first time I visited this don Pan i was told that that just because it is an "International Bakery" they only had baked empanadas? I work nearby and I often picked up café con leche in the afternoons for myself and for my co-workers. Unfortunately this trip wasn't great. I know its like a heat wave outside but I still expect for my coffee to be HOT. It was lukewarm at best. Next time I will make sure to check that the cup is steaming hot before leaving the café. Service was friendly but $5 for a small iced cafe con leche is insane. This will be a pass for me for when I am craving iced coffee.

I agree with Joseph A. I had been to the place after the new management took over (around Jul 2014 I think) and my experience has been very good. I took my family there several times and the food is delicious! I even ordered some of the cold pastries and they were fresh and very good. The Cuban sandwiches are excellent. As I understand it, this location is under new management . I had breakfast at this Wesley chapel don pan with my wife and we enjoyed it. The service was very good, the place was clean and the breakfast pastries were excellent, they were fresh, crispy and tasty. The coffee and cappuccino were good too. Frankly, we had a good experience, I don't know about the bad reviews on yelp? Maybe they were from the previous owners? I tried the empanadas, sad to say both the chicken and beef were flavorless. I read another review about the pastries being dry and tasteless; they were right, I tried 4 different ones at my home and I had to toss them out. Stick to the flaky pastries. Yuck. Although I ate here before it was under new managment- hopefully its better for their sake but when when my husband and I tried this place when it first opened up it looked pretty pathetic. The store had a few but nicely decorated cakes which i dont think are often bought considering publix is in the same complex. I've been coming here since the day they first opened. The cafe con leche and the marron are my favorite. Everything they do is fresh from the pastries, to the breakfast sandwiches and Cubans on fresh bread. They have a big selection of Latin favorites like empanadas, arepas cachitos and Latin soda. He does a big business in custom cakes and tiramisu. Get your cake order in soon because he fills up quick. We're so lucky to have this latin gem in our neighborhood . I was very excited to finally try their cuban and pastries! I ordered a cuban which was not made on cuban bread and if I had known that when I ordered a CUBAN sandwich that it would not be on CUBAN bread I would not have gotten one. The chicken empanada turned out to be all dough hardly any filling. The caramel pastry was pretty good and the staff was very nice. Over all it was very disappointing for me and my love for Spanish food. I will not return. read more

Just added an espresso shot at home to balance it off. But I just saw another review, looks like I'll have to try the Marron next time. Also looking forward to trying the desserts! I would give it zero stars if possible. My mom bought a tiramisu cake for my birthday and asked multiple times if it was freshly made. They assured her it was. However, the cake was very dry and felt like it sat out of the shelf for days. The ladyfingers portion of the tiramisu was not soaked at all!! The cake tasted old. We were so excited to have our deserts from Don Pan last night. Cheese ckae, chocolate cake and a fruity cake of some sort. Im sorry to say these fell far below our expectations.
