Very saddened by the downfall of this iconic bakery in Tampa. I guess it's under new management and nothing was as I remember it! We lived in Tampa for 6 years and this little bakery had the best media noche and guava pastries I had. We were in town for business and stoped in for lunch. The media noche came with no lettuce or tomato and it was not even warm. When I asked for the lettuce and tomato on the side to add to sandwich she said it was an upcharge. We added them ourselves but the experience was lost on biting into fully involved sandwich. The bread was not terribly fresh considering they make the bread. We order stuffed yucca and potato and they were not served warm. The meat was barely seasoned. The worst were the guava pastries (pastellilos) filled with gushers jelly like substance and pastry shell hard like you get in a supermarket. Sadly will be the last time we come here. read more

We purchased a cheese cake that was about $30.00 for today ! When we started slicing it and distributing around the office, people were returning it BACK. It taste like spoil cheese and rotten milk ! We called the bakery and a employee stated to bring it back for a possible refund or exchange for another item ! We advised her we had to throw it out and we are wanting a refund. She then stated she apologized but they had two refrigerators that went bad and were off ! One of my favorite bakeries in Tampa. Highly recommend. Line might get long on Sundays but it's worth it.

This bakery is absolutely spotless, typically busy and always friendly. They seem to specialize in cakes but I'm here to tell you the guava, cheese, and guava plus cheese pastries are absolutely delicious. Flaky, fresh, tasty and embarrassingly inexpensive. Guava pastries are only a dollar and guava plus cheese are a dollar and five cents. I kid you not. Last Sunday, I bought four. Big spender here! Their coffee is also excellent. The colada always has a nice crema and I order it sweet because we love Cuban coffee that way. If there is a line, head around to the right and wait for someone to yell "next!" Everyone has been very gracious. Nobody has tried to cut in line and folks let you go when it's your turn. My Spanish is not strong but I always try my best. They are very patient with me. Finally, they take credit cards. No problema! We love coming here. One colada for two people will brighten and accelerate your day and possibly evening depending on when you drink it. Be warned. I stopped by during lunch time to get an empanada, guava pastry and a small coffee, I was surprised when I received the bill, almost $9.00 for three items. Way too overpriced! The original bakery used to be very affordable and the quality was amazing. The empanada was terrible, it seemed that it was made way too many hours ago. On top of that they hand you an Ipad type to pay with tip choices already selected for you. I won't go back because I felt ripped off, they are pricing themselves out of customers, you have to be a fool to go back. read more

It would appear that 2 shops have combined into one doubling the size of the bakery. It might be new ownership because the sign now reads Angelito's La Caridad Bakery. It is a much improved ambiance. One side of the place has hot food and pastries. You can order sandwiches, a limited variety of hot spanish dishes, hot spanish pastries and coffee. The other room houses all the cold and room temp products. Mostly cakes and pastries. The counter tops have bulk bags of pastry favorites that you can grab and go for the home or office. Their goods are moderately to very good in flavor but look fantastic. I came to get the wife some goodies for her birthday this month. In the mood for Cuban pastries, and finger food. Went to Angelito's authentic Cuban bakery. The place was clean, neat, and all the attendants looked professional, and catered to your needs. A lot to choose from. Everything looked fresh. i ordered a Cuban sandwich made to order. A Masterva a mate like-tea soft drink, cold. Ordered guava pastries, cheese pastries, and guava/ cheese patties. Everything was delicious, yummy, tender in texture, and tasty. They offer a variety of pastries, breads, sandwiches, fruit shakes, soft drinks, and definitely cafe or coffee with milk or however you want it. I'll definitely comeback. Food is so good. Brings back memories of my childhood. Bocaditos are my favorite. The croquetas were also very yummy.

The good, great food, lots of baked goods, perfect coffee. The bad, slow as molasses. For the number of people working here there is no excuses for the excruciatingly slow service. There is no sense of urgency . The girls just walk back and forth, talk to each other, they clean behind the counter but no focus on moving through customers and serving them. The line just kept growing and then finally one person starts to take the order and then walks away from the register for 5 minutes. There seems to be either confusion with what they are supposed to be doing or just oblivious that there are more people entering the shop than leaving. And then the person behind me has his order come up before mine. I'll chalk this up to either new/young workers that are still learning their footing. I would suggest a little more oversight, training and instilling confidence in performing the tasks. It takes time to learn but preparing employees a little better can help reduce excess wait times. Please try to observe what I saw from an objective view point. Time the process or watch how your customers are serviced. Generally speaking, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. BTW, the Cuban sandwich was flat but cold. I'm guessing that the press was not turned on or not heated up. read more

This place smells amazing and usually has a line outside on the weekends. They have so many options to choose from and the woman who helped us gave great recommendations. We ordered breakfast which was good, but the pastries, cakes and cheesecakes were definitely better. I'll definitely be back to try some of their empanadas and croquettes! I was helping out a friend prepare for a large Hispanic party. He asked me to pick up appetizers from his favorite bakery, Angelo's LaCaridad, on West Hillsborough in Town 'n' Country. I had heard stories about their savory fare and expertise but now I had the perfect opportunity to discover the truth myself. Fortunately (at least for me) his car had broken down so I volunteered to drive him to work at 6:30 AM. Since the bakery opens at 5 AM it proved to be an excellent early bird opportunity to continue on over. Although the pictures on this website give an indication of both the variety and taste-tempting appeal of what seems like an epicurean delight nothing compares to viewing it in person. I was a kid again who once more wanted exquisitely designed and decadent chocolate cake, freshly baked just hours earlier, meringues inviting my mouth to melt them, all types of pastries in all varieties of flavor. I went to this bakery mid week during the afternoon and I was the only customer. They had a variety of things to order from and I did choose a few items to taste but a lot of it wasn't good. I ordered three different cakes however all of them tasted like pound cake and were very heavy. The frosting was OK but wasn't out of this world. I also ordered two different flan desserts but again - both tasted similar. The only difference was that one had more caramel juice than the other. In addition to this I ordered an eclair and a phyllo dough type dessert. Again - both were just OK. I wouldn't go back here. They are overpriced and their desserts are not worth it. The service is A+ even when the place is crowded they greet you as you walk in the say thanks for the tip and they are helpful when you try to order what you want in Spanish which i do often. For those of us Cubans living well outside the borders of Miami, there is nothing sweeter and no gift more thoughtful than receiving a box of pasteles from the quasi-motherland. Returning from an extended vacation in Tampa, my cousin blessed us with two boxes: guava and beef. Separate, of course! Perfectly flaky crust, generous filling, and flavor that packs a punch. The guava pastel was unabashedly sweet, with the guava paste oozing out of the pastry, as is customary. I have been coming to this place for years, in fact, I just noticed my 5 star review from 4 years ago, however, my last two visits were one star. Bought cream horns at 6 AM and the were soggy, not crunchy like they always were. same for the napoleons. bought the cannoli's and they were near fresh, but not fresh. Both times I feel like I bought yesterday's product, so I'm feeling staff issues or profitabilit. Staff not happy as usual so maybe new owners. I stopped by this small bakery to get a Cuban sandwich and cortadito. They sell pastry items, cakes, breads, sandwiches, coffee, all to go. There's no place to sit and eat inside. Having said that, the Cuban sandwich ($5.95) was decent, the ham was no too salty however there was very little pork in the sandwich. They don't add salami which is great. They do slap a good amount of butter on the outer part of the bread before pressing it down. The best part though was the cortadito. It was perfection, not too sweet and just dark/strong enough. The bakery section of this restaurant looks amazing. The food unfortunately is an afterthought. It's definitely not fresh but it's also not terrible. Tampa has so many better places to get food. The service was great I was greeted when I walked in the door. You're almost overwhelmed by things that look beautiful on the bakery side, but my Cuban sandwich and my croquettes weren't good. If you're here for the bakery you've made a good choice. If you're here for Cuban food go somewhere else. They also are a little bit pricey for what it is. I have been coming to this bakery for years. First it was to get a jolt of hot sweet Café Cubano, but then the guava and cheese pastries grabbed hold, and wouldn't let me go. They also make an incredible guava and cheese bread which is a huge hit during office staff meetings. Most recently, I have utilized this bakery for their cake making services. They did a gorgeous job decorating the birthday cake I ordered. And even though English was not her first language, the woman taking the order did an excellent job of getting every detail correct, down to the odd spelling of names. My family absolutely loved the flavor of the cake and the icing, and even once I confessed that I lied about 'jelly' being the center layer (pickiest eaters ever-could not tell them ahead of time it was guava or they never would have eaten it), they still were raving about the cake. The parking lot out front was finally re-paved, so that should help with parking issues. Consistently good, so go treat yourself. read more

I brought a big cake to my work place none of them are hispanic so they never tried something like it and they loved it, some of the went there to get one for their families.
