I hate when we have songs paid for in the jukebox and they turn it off after we've spent the money.

The pizza is the only thing that is good here. Their food is cold and not worth how much you pay for it. The waiters/waitresses never check if you need anything. Constantly having to get their attention to get refills, the check, etc. Stuffy environment. Bathrooms are dirty as well. Would not recommend this place at all. read more

2nd time here and consistency is EXCELLENT! This time I tested the I tasted the enchiladas rancheros and the chili rellenos. When my play came I first went to the rice to make sure it was still delicious... It most definitely was. You can actually taste the lovely spices they use. Both dishes were delicious. If you're like me and enjoy chilli rellenos and all its elements you are going to enjoy these. The poblanos had that lovely sweetness to them, the s sauce was delicious and the cheese, was absolutely cheesy! The enchiladas rancheros are simply cheese enchiladas. I chose those because I really wanted the taste of the red chili sauce. It was delicious of course. I had kind of lost my taste for Mexican food because you rarely find a Mexican restaurant that cooks Just like home. But Don Pepe's has not let me down yet. Last week we went to this restaurant for one of our co-workers' farewell lunches. Never thought that that place would be so nice, clean and modernized. Doesn't look like all the other Mexican restaurants I had visited. We did not have to wait too long to get seated. They gave the menu to all of us and let us know that there was a buffet. Five of us decided to try the buffet and others ordered from the menu. Of course buffet was faster and I could see what I was eating without guessing. Tacos and tortillas were made right in front of us by the buffet bar. Nice, fresh, and hot. There was plenty of food at the buffet bar. I tried every one of them. All of item were so delicious. Since this is a lunch, we didn't get to have any liquor of course so I didn't get a chance to explore the bar on the other side of the restaurant. We asked for separate receipts for each of us and they happily did it for us. Oh, by the way, did I mention that We don't need to look for a parking spot? Parking spot right next to the building. Service was slow. Me and my girl ordered menudo. We asked for extra hominy no Pata. And it took 20 minutes to get them mind you it was a slow night for a Saturday. We get our menudo there was no hominy at all and it had Pata which we specifically said no Pata. So they took our menudos and it took another another 20 minutes to get back. I had the Shrimp Cocktail and it was generous and fresh. One coworker had the seafood enchiladas the other had Chili Verde. Both sad they really liked it. This is one of my dad's go-to restaurants during the week, so he took my mom and I here to try it out. I was quite impressed. The service was amazing and they even gave us a little hook thing to hang our purses on. When you first walk in, there are people making fresh tortillas, so obviously you gotta get some. They serve them fresh and hot, with butter. I think I ate like 5 but I lost count. The chips and salsa are also amazing and the salsa is super flavorful without being very spicy. I ordered the Enchiladas Del Mar (shrimp enchiladas), and they were delicious. If you live anywhere near Shafter or are passing through, definitely stop by this restaurant. Don't stop here not good at all. If you're wanting to eat Mexican just drive down the street to La Fonda. The prices are ridiculously high for the quality of food. Once we all wrapped up lunch we had to hunt down our bill otherwise we may have had to camp out here. Im not sure why the service was so bad.
