Tucked-Away Treasure Worth Finding! We stumbled across Mas Bella Restaurant & Lounge while exploring a little corner of a shopping mall near the Adventist medical building and Sequoia Sandwich Company -- it's hidden between the two, so keep your eyes peeled! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in, we were greeted with a spacious and clean dining area, with good vibes all around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar and dining sections are separate, which we liked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came in on a weekday right when they opened, and the host/waiter (working solo!) was super friendly and very attentive -- props to him for holding it down! Chips and salsa hit the table right away -- the chips were warm and crisp, and the salsa was chunky, flavorful, and just the right kind of zesty. Off to a good start! We ordered the Mas Bella burrito with chicken and the build-your-own combo with two chicken tacos. Both came with rice and beans, and both were delicious. The tacos were simple -- just lettuce and cheese, no onion or cilantro -- but the tortillas were extra fresh and soft, and that made a big difference. The burrito was smothered in cheesy, saucy goodness -- absolutely tasty, though it only had one bell pepper and the tiniest sliver of onion (a bit shy on the veggies, but we forgive them because the flavor delivered!). My beans came toasted; my husband's did not. So, a tiny inconsistency, but the rice was flavorful, and overall, the food was freshly made and satisfying. We also ordered two Cadillac Margaritas, and let me tell you -- they did not skimp on the pour! Strong, smooth, and generous with the shot. Prices were very reasonable -- our total came out just over $67, which felt like a solid deal for everything we got. The service wasn't super fast, but definitely not slow either -- it's clear everything is made fresh, and we appreciated that. All in all, we were happy with our visit and would definitely come back. Mas Bella may be tucked away, but it's worth the find!

I really enjoyed my overall experience at this restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes and decor are upscale Mexican.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The enchiladas suizas were delicious and the beans/rice had really good flavor as well. We received good service, but I felt like our server could've checked up on us a bit more. I definitely want to return to try different items on their menu.

Unfortunately, I will not be going back to this restaurant. I ordered three tacos and by the time they were on my table, they were cold, but the waitress was nice enough to warm them up in the microwave for me . and if you know biting into a cold Carnitas taco it's not pleasant. My husband ordered camarones a la diabla and the only thing good about that was the sauce not even the over steamed vegetables or rice, but I sure enjoyed my martini.

Great service and a nice date night. Margaritas were perfect, and Carnitas Tacos were delicious as ever!

    Arroz con Pollo

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing food, great service, love the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the Arroz con Pollo and Enchiladas Suizas. Both dishes were very flavorful and more than enough. The margarita was strong, they don't skimp on the tequila! Chips and salsa also great, just wish the chips were a little warmer but otherwise we would come again and again!

This meal (grilled chicken fajitas) cost me $27 dollars and charged me $1.00 for the corn shells...the flavor was off ...not a good flavor and the salsa was flat unlike before. Boy, the last time I was there the service is like night and day. They even mixed up our meal with another customer....had not seen that done before....I believe that meal was passed around the room three times as we watched the same plate also leave our table to only pop up on someone else's table ...not good ...I had enough rice to feed our entire group there... not worth the money!

Came for happy hour/taco Tuesday so reviewed is based on that. Really enjoyed both the carnitas and el pastor tacos and the pickled onion added the perfect amount of acidity. Not sure I would pay full price for the tacos but at 2.50 I am in. Sat at the bar and a couple of observations: every drink that was prepared was batched ahead of time, big fan of trader joes's mezcal but was surprised to see it on their shelf. For happy hour the well drinks are 6 and at that price the margaritas were great. Their signature cocktails were more of a disappointment especially the caramel old fashioned which was way too sweet. Will come back for taco Tuesday

Amazing service, as soon as we walked in everyone was extremely attentive. As well, they kept checking in through the meal.

Wow what a surprise! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a restaurant tucked away in some new development on Buena Vista. It is one of the most beautiful, polished restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every table has fresh flowers, each with a different vase.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is dark, cozy, and quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitress is the owner's sister, she was really helpful with the menu. I started off with the shrimp cocktail, really delicious. Then the taco and enchilada had amazing presentation. The pork taco had a tangy sauce, and enchiladas had a nice chile verde sauce. Very happy with the food! I will definitely bring my wife here for a date night.

Came here after my visit with urgent care, picked up my medicine, (diagnosed with the flu), it's going around right now. I knew I needed soup, but didn't want the can kind. I kept my distance when I went in and ordered pozole to go. The gentleman was very helpful and kind. It didn't take long at all. I have to say it was some of the best pozole I've had. I saved the broth for later.

We brought our girls for lunch because it was one of the girls birthday and food was good; however, you can tell it's still new and they are still trying to find their groove. I asked our server if they sing Happy Birthday and he said no... :-/ hmmmm I consider it a upscale Mexican restaurant versus other ones in town and it's weird that there's no Happy Birthday singing. When appetizers arrived our server didn't have a serving spoon for the aguachiles and he didn't bring us little plates. There was a total of 6 of us and we weren't ready to just dive in. We also got the shrimp empanadas and we also didn't get a serving spoon or little plates. Food was good, my chile relleno had all it's seeds inside so that was a little bit of a turn off for me because I don't like biting into a huge amount of seeds. The flavor was great, but the seeds was not for me. I thought it was just mine, but 2 other people had all the seeds inside their chile relleno too. The upside is that they have a good amount of tables and the restaurant seems very clean. I didn't get to use the restroom, but one of the people that came w us said they have a folding table in the restroom, so that seems like they have a pretty big restroom. The restaurant has cute decor and I would love to come back, but I don't know if I would come out for a birthday again.

    Lunch Special: Chicken Fajitas

I'd say, we got the más bellamente (most beautifully) filling lunch! We stopped in for a "light" lunch that clearly got completely out of hand. Before walking in, the plan was to split some fajitas, guac and chips. Clearly, everyone had a different idea after looking at the menu, haha. Our Order: Complimentary Chips and Salsa - The salsa was la estrella (the star). It was light, yet full of fresh flavor. If they had a bottle for sale of it, I would have bought it to take home to Colorado for Breakfast Tacos. Chips and Guac - Oh, this guac was cremoso (creamy). It's the guac you wish you could perfect at home. Plus, I loved how we got a new kind of chip with this order! The chips were more airy and gave a light texture to the creamy dip. Quesa Birria Taco - The taco was una decepción (a let down) to me and bastante bueno (pretty good) to my husband. Now, I'll admit. I'm not a Birria Taco expert, so maybe I just don't love them. What I did like? The sauce and broth that came with! Muy bueno (very good) to me and my husband! Bao Bun Taco - The taco was diferente y ligeramente dulce (different and slightly sweet). Surprisingly, this taco was my brother's FAVORITE! Personally, I enjoyed the soft bun to the chewy texture of meat. It's a fun pair to have that you never seen done at Mexican restaurants. Chicken Fajitas & Steak Fajitas - The fajitas were un puñetazo en la cara (punch to the face) of flavor! The marinade on the meat and veggies was citrusy, tangy and delicious. These were my FAVORITE that I cannot wait to go back and order again. Chili Verde Burrito - The burrito was excelente (excellent). He loved the size of the burrito, and thought the Chili Verde inside the burrito was tender and mild in spice. It's the meal to order if you are really hungry! At least, that's what our waitress told us. Beyond the meal, the atmosphere of Mas Bella is really versatile vibe with a cute lil' bar to grab a drink or have an intimate date, a main room for families and friends to grab a meal and a sweet open patio that anyone would enjoy on a nice day! The service was nothing but attentive and kind to us, as well. In fact, our main waitress was full of personality. She made the meal quite enjoyable anytime she stopped by to refill water or take orders. We appreciated her! Overall, our experience was 5 stars and my mas bella (most beautiful) mama is already planning when she can take her girlfriends there for Taco Tuesday, lol. :D

We were passing through on our way home to Los Angeles. Found this place on yelp and had to try it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's pretty small inside but very clean and well decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bathroom was very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was prompt a delicious. We would definitely come back here.

With only two other parties seated, it was blissfully quiet. This is a rare treat when you actually want to hear your colleagues speak. The Main Event: Enchiladas con Mole. I opted for the $14 Lunch Special, and the value to flavor ratio was off the charts. The Enchiladas con Mole were a revelation. They were deep, complex, and packed with a spicy punch. The Sidekick: The beans were just okay, but with mole that soulful, I was not complaining. The Refresher: The Cucumber and Lime Agua Fresca was the MVP. It was crisp, refreshing, and the perfect cooling counterpoint to the heat. I genuinely wish I had ordered a second one. The Vibe and Service: The decorations are absolutely darling and make the experience. While our server was perfectly nice, they were a bit of a disappearing act despite the empty room. I am definitely curious to come back for dinner though. They have a great setup for live music that looks promising. Know Before You Go: The Receipt Trap: Heads up! They added an automatic 18% gratuity to our check. I am not sure if it was because we were a party of seven, but I did not notice until after I had already added a tip.

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.

Granted it looked like all construction workers because there was nothing else but oversized trucks in their parking lot! My fiancé Googled "clean hotel without bed bugs" and Padre Hotel came up first! Their online reviews were great and we were exhausted and needed to rest! We pulled into their valet parking just to drop off our things. As my fiancé parked the car, across the street in the over night garage, I was able to get a Single King room on a Monday night for $159. As we walked into our room #701, it was rather small, but fine since it was just the two of us. As I sat on the bed, it was actually hard! Yay!!!! I can't STAND soft beds and rather sleep on the floor! Haha no joke! Then my fiancé went into the restroom and suddenly he tapped on something glass sounding as I was turning ing on the tv..... I noticed there was a curtain by the bed, so I pulled it across and lo and behold by the bed was the shower and just a curtain the person from the outside of the shower could open/close as they please..... hee. We also had a mini fridge in the room along with a desk and chair. We had planned on staying one night, but got inside LA, and we figured we'd extend our stay. Upon doing so, we went downstairs the next day and asked if there was a deal if we could stay 3-4 days, and sure enough there was!!!! It's always great to see what happens once you ask! Hee. We got a larger room with a corner room location, I forgot the room number, but the restroom was larger and had a separate wall between the toilet and shower area, so if someone was in the shower, someone else could use the toilet and not be seen. This longer hotel room also had a chaise lounge chair and a better view of their downtown area, granted a lot of the places have closed. Overall, I honestly loved our stay here! It reminded me of a county version of The Fairmont SF! They constantly played new aged country music in the lobby! Then on Fridays and Saturdays there was a live band or singer in the bar area! I love how they had a community aspect to the hotel with some local live entertainment!!! My fiancé also loved watching The Knicks play on the bar tv with other people at the bar! Hee. Oh and they had an adorable coffee shop that made Ready To Order items downstairs too! See my review at Farmacy Cafe, but too freaking too! Country SHREK! Hee We will definitely be back again!!!!!

Highly recommend!
