Went there with the family about 6:00 to have a nice authentic Latin meal. We sat down and were handed menus. Before even getting a chance to look at them and ordering a drink the waiter stood there expecting us to order right away. I asked for a minute to look. I guess he took that literally because he was right back WITHOUT our drinks.asking if we are ready yet. Anyway, after a few times trying to get for our order, we got a appetizer. Before the app came out he was back twice to ask if we would order so I gave in and did so. The appitizer was a nacho salad w/ guacamole that was very bland and tasted no better than a home style. We had it at the table for about thirty seconds when our food arrived. I complained that's why I didn't want to order yet. The food tasted like it came from a Taco Bell kit. Great food, great service, ample portions. My favorite dish is the "Don Ramon" with steak. I order it every visit. It's a large portion so I always get a to go box and enjoy a second meal the following day. My husband always tries something different and has never been disappointed. Found another great place in Forest City! The food is delicious (even my Mother loved her food, that's saying something!). My father and I both had a Combination plate, to sample different items on the menu. I had a #11... a beef enchilada, a cheese quesadilla, and a choice of a Chile Relleno or Poblano Chile. You have got to try the Don Ramon! My husband and I get it every time and we are able to split it between us, it is that big a portion!! We have tried both the chicken and and steak Don Ramon and I recommend both!! We always leave happy and filled when we eat here! read more

I only ate here once and ordered the veggie fajitas. Found a piece of chicken in them, which didn't make me very happy. None of the food had much flavor. Not the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, but far from the best. There are much better options in Forest City. read more

Very good Mexican food for this part of the country. Salsa is some of the best around. Full menu of Mexican specialities. Service is always good and fast. Prices are reasonable. Nicely decorated. I shop frequently at Forest City and always eat at Don Ramon's. In fact me and my friends have never had bad service, food or any negative feelings. Love this place! Stopped in while visiting friends in the area. The food was tasty, authentic, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff was quick to take our order including our drink order. I was conflicted about whether to give them two or three stars. I decided on 2 because my waiter was unfriendly and acted like I was a hassle for asking for things like salt and extra napkins. So regarding the food: the ground beef hard taco was very very good, the margarita was very good. However, neither the refried beans or the guacamole had much flavor until I got the previously mentioned salt added. The "guacamole salad" was a couple tablespoons of guacamole on top of some lettuce and tomato but it wasn't very expensive either only $3.50, so I guess you get what you pay for. My waiter also got my order wrong, instead of bringing refried beans he brought a different kind of guacamole salad that looked very nice and very expensive, which he said he had to throw away since I did not order it. I don't know why he thought I would order two different kinds of guacamole salad. The other wait staff seemed very nice. I will go back again if for nothing else but the yummy tacos read more

This used to be our favorite Mexican Restaurant in the area, but the last two trips have been very disappointing. I'm not sure what dynamics have changed, but the food is now bland and not at all what you would expect from Mexican cuisine. I guess we will be searching for a replacement. :( read more

I'll start with the positives - the Dos Equis was quite good. However, the beer was the only good thing we found at Don Ramon. The food was super, super bland and the server was terrible. I've never had refried beans that were actually watered down, but I'm pretty sure that's what the soup on my plate was. Honestly, refried beans cost pennies for a restaurant, so why would anyone ever consider trying to stretch them like that? I couldn't even detect salt and pepper on the meat, let alone any spice. The server was a bit of a jerk and only "checked" on us to give us the check. We'll be steering clear of here. read more

Hubby and I visited for the 5th time this year - and it's only early May! LOL... that's a huge deal for us since we don't eat out often because we're on a tight budget. We visited last Friday night (5/12). I walked in carrying an 8 month old and was never asked if I needed a highchair. I then proceeded to find the highchair myself and when asked an employee about the highchair all he did was point towards the back. I then had to go myself, still carrying the baby on my hip, pull a highchair off a stack of about 7 highchairs, bring it to the table and then place the cover on it and place the baby in the chair myself. The waiter was fine but never asked if we needed anything. We had to stop him every time he walked by the table to get anything (spoon, drink refills). The waited had no problem taking care of the table behind us where they ordered alcohol. He was very attentive to them but only came back to bring us the bill and to pick up dirty dishes. Very disappointed. Not sure if I will come back to this restaurant. read more

I don't think Tony R. that gave the review knows good Mexican food when he has it! We went there when Don Ramon's first opened, and were blown away by the food! Whether it is authentic Mexican or not, I don't know, but what I DO know is that we have another Mexican restaurant in town, and I will go to Don Ramon's from now on.........the sauce they bring with the tortilla chips has FLAVOR, doesn;t taste like watered down tomato sauce; the ACP is the BEST I've ever had, and the Raspberry chicken is incredible! It has the flavor of BBQ chicken! Plus, they make a really good margarita! We have been back at least 6 times........and will continue to go! Try it, you WON'T be sorry!! read more

Highly disappointed. I ordered the same meal as I usually do there, the Shrimp Diablo and it was and entirely different meal, the sauce literally tasted like hot sauce with ketchup added and microwaved for a minute. The refried beans that come with it were also different and had absolutely no taste. After I mentioned the sauce to the waiter he tried to bring out a different sauce but it to was very poor tasting almost like chili powder mix with water added. I was imagining an actual shrimp diablo with a cooked sauce that was flavorful and tasty , The service was not bad . But the food was terrible and inconsistent from what was served before. Whoever is cooking there should probably find a job more suited to them because they clearly do not belong in a kitchen.. If you dont care about food or your customers , stay out of the kitchen After writing this I am going to the bathroom to throw up. read more
