The restaurant has a nice ambiance. Note it is all outdoors so in the summers can get quite hot and humid. They had a floor fan going which helped. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, but we did have to ask a few times for water refills with ice. Again, very hot when we went. I really enjoyed the Caesar salad presentation and their bread. The butter came out "smoked." It wasn't my cup of tea as it tasted like butter from a house fire? But I'm always down to try unique things. We ordered the surf and turf taco and Don Sanchez taco which was a shrimp taco. My favorite was the shrimp taco. The surf and turf was quite spicy so beware. I also felt the "turf" (beef) was a bit tough and jerky-like? Our other main dish was the 8 hour sous vide barbacoa type dish (forget the name). I thought it was ok. We topped off with churros that came with a chocolate and caramel dip. Just classic churros.
Not sure how this place has the reviews it does. Service was absolutely fantastic as I've experienced most places in Cabo but let's talk food. Catch of the day tartare was fresh but lacking seasoning. Next we tried the brisket as it was highly recommended. It was cooked well but the cut of meat was tough and a little rubbery. Safe to say the meal was edible and the service was good but not anywhere I'd recommend especially at this price point.
My favorite dining experience in San Jose Del Cabo- Don Sanchez. The service is amazing and everything on the menu is killer! It's so hard to decide!!! We started with the amuse bouche of garlic mushroom confit! Great first bite! And martinis in the best glasses! The tartare of the day was fresh and a very large portion. The smoked lobster cream soup was very unique. Love the palate cleanser of sorbet. The braised beef was so tender and packed with flavor as was the risotto that accompanied it. I loved my chili pepper stuffed with so much shrimp and saffron risotto. Both dishes as tastier veggies as well. For dessert the light pavlova. The later dinner drinks were also fun! Very creative glassware! A great place for special occasions and great food. Also love the music!
Truly one of the best meals I've ever had, ever. I mean it. To me, it was better (and cheaper) than Pujol in Mexico City -- keep in mind I'm plant based so reviews and experiences are based on that. Wow this place is stunning. The ambiance and decor is so aesthetically pleasing, the live music, the outdoors (allows you to see beautiful sunsets)... amazing. The food!!! I cannot say enough about the award winning vegan tacos. The presentation, the unique flavor, the unique style of pineapple as tortillas - you must get this. It's very clear why it won an award. Also ordered the Papazul and the cauliflower which were both phenomenal and big portions. Drinks were fantastic and the service from the staff was exceptional. It's clear they love the food just as much as you will when you leave.
From the entrance to sitting down the experience just keeps getting better. Live music, indoor/outdoor seating with a beautiful ambiance. The service was on top of every course and kept making sure we had clean plates and utensils. Ambiance, service and food were all exceptional. We will definitely be back.
We went here last night for my birthday. Great atmosphere and great service. However, the drinks were TINY, and completely watered down. The food is So expensive, it's shocking. For a party of 6, our bill was $800. (And only 4 of us ordered cocktails)-- the other 2 people were drinking water!!!!!!!!!!!!! The crest salad was a joke with only 3 lettuce leaves. The brisket was great, but again extremely overpriced and small portions. SKIP DON SANCHEZ!!!!!!!!!
Hard not to sound like many other reviewers who said best meal ever, or close to it. We had planned to eat elsewhere but it was closed. We liked the look of Don Sanchez so decided to give it a try. Beautiful setting in a courtyard has been mentioned numerous times. It is also wheelchair accessible and dog friendly. The menu is a bit awkward to read but we took René's recommendations and we were glad we did. We started with an amuse bouche from the chef - local mushrooms- The first clue this wasn't an ordinary restaurant! The tuna tartare was exceptional and definitely sizeable for two to share. We had the Caesar salad and enjoyed the fresh greens and unique tasting dressing. The palate cleanser was hibiscus flower sorbet. Both mains were recommendations. Beef brisket was avocado risotto was declared outstanding as were the surf and turf tacos. Two tacos were recommended as a main but after tartare, salad, amuse bouche, and bread I could easily have been satisfied with one. HOWEVER, I was over the moon with the flavours and textures in the tacos. Truly not your average taco! Beautifully presently and every morsel savoured! The dishes all works of art really. Checking out the website later, we read that the chef hails from Vancouver Island (as do we). If this restaurant were at home it would be our new favourite place to dine. Thanks to the team for attentive, professional service and a meal that will long be remembered.
This place is a super star of dining. Everyone is friendly, professional and we felt very welcomed. We didn't have reservations and they took us in. We were so grateful bc our other reservations did t pan out. First thing you notice as you enter is their eye for detail in design. From the plantings, to the lighting and beyond, top notch. We were celebrating our anniversary and were served complimentary empanadas. The menu itself is interesting and I suggest something easier to read. However the selection is varied so that everyone will be sure to find something they like. We selected empanadas as appetizers. We were worried it would be too filling, but they are petite and tasty. The bread and smoked butter is to die for, especially the infused red bread. I had the brisket over risotto and my husband had the beef filet with mashed potatoes. Both were served with vegetables, but neither of us could bring ourselves to eat them bc our main course was absolutely divine. The portions are large and we could have easily split each plate. The brisket was tender and not fatty and the flavor was epic. The beef filet was huge and tender. Cooked to perfection. We had a Caesar salad made table side which was lovely. After dinner flambéd Caribbean coffee and the preparation was also table side. Complimentary chocolate cake with ganache and a after dinner chocolate with raspberry. Such nice touches throughout the dining experience. A must try place while in San Jose Del Cabo and we will definitely return. As a treat, we let the chef as we were leaving and I honestly can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our evening. I will never again drive into Cabo San Lucas to dine when this place is just around the corner.
It was me and my gfs' last night in Cabo and we didn't expect much from Don Sanchez but wow they exceeded all of our expectations. It has a very unassuming entrance but once you walk in, it feels like you walked into another world. The open air property and lighting ambience was very relaxing and romantic. The food and service were phenomenal. I mean we ate at more expensive places in the beginning of our trip but this place exceeded all of the fancier places we've been too. From the appetizers to the main entree and even the bread...definitely one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
So we were walking to another place for dinner, saw how cool the patio inside looked and came here. Glad we did. This is hands down a 5-star fine dining experience. The staff were super attentive and the food and drinks were off the charts. I had the braised brisket with mushroom risotto, my wife had a chile relleno rice dip ah with shrimp and my brother in law the chicken mole. Everything was incredible. We finished it off with a chocolate piñata dessert. From start to finish this was first class. The only issue I could see people having is the cost. With tip, this was $540 for four people so it was California prices in Cabo. read more
We were in town for our anniversary and found Don Sanchez. What a lovely courtyard setting! Beautiful with live music and delicious cocktails. The servers were attentive without smothering. And the food!!!! Delicious! Must come back when in San Jose del Cabo! read more

My goodness what a meal and what an experience. My best meal happened tonight and of course it's in San Jose Del Cabo. Every bite of food was superb, well thought out and perfectly presented. They understand color in presentation here!! (Please see pics) the sax player kept me entertained and the servers were on point from the front of the house to the back. I left with a smile on my face and enjoyed every moment and every bite. Unique, authentic; I'm running out of adjectives to describe an amazing five star restaurant. read more

Service was decent at first but tapered out. Not a relaxed environment in June with all open air. The chicken mole was pretty dry. Average at best. I know it's a local favorite but maybe a little hyped up. Drinks were odd is the only way I can describe read more

We had an amazing dinner at Don Sanchez. Our servers, Santiago and Yuer (?), were both such a delight to have. They made us feel welcome and offered detailed descriptions of the dishes. Don Sanchez is an unassuming restaurant with the most unusual but exquisite food. I had to check the menu after I was served to read what I was eating. Everything we ordered was delicious and artistically presented. We will return! read more

We had a nice dinner here last night, food was wonderful and ambience was great. Love music and beautiful surroundings. We had oysters,pork shank, and a wonderful table made Caesar salad. The wait staff was excellent very knowledgeable 10/10 read more

This place is fantastic! I would recommend reservations if you're going during peak dinner hours. Also, the meal will take a bit as everything is cooked fresh. Don't worry though, the outdoor ambiance is very cool and they often have live entertainment. Also, be careful with the menu as there are a couple really pricey items - everything is listed in pesos, so know the conversions. First off, I would get the caesar salad made at your table. It is almost a mini-show as the waiter creates the dish. Very tasty! All of the steak dishes are good - except my wife accidentally ordered one that cost about $150! Oops. I had a steak and lobster combo that was excellent and reasonably priced. Other good options are the lobster risotto, surf and turf taco, or the wood fried chicken. There was one lady who was in charge of cashing out each table and she didn't speak English very well, but it wasn't an issue. Great restaurant and we used their wifi on two separate occasions so we could order an Uber back to our hotel - much cheaper than the taxi stand. Don Sanchez is an excellent, 5 star dining experience! read more

Super cute spot. We didn't eat here, only had drinks in the lounge area but would def come back (I believe they are owned by the same people that own The Office and Edith's in Cabo San Lucas). Their cocktails, as you can see, are sooo pretty, but also very tasty. Forgot our bartender's name, but he was super attentive and friendly. He saw me scratching my leg several times, so he offered me Off itching spray. He also makes a great espresso martini! Ambiance is really nice, very spacious for large groups and there was a live singer. Will be back! read more

My husband and I came in for our anniversary dinner and the service was absolutely incredible from start to finish. We've never had a dining experience like this but it is one to remember. There was a live saxophone player who serenaded us personally and throughout the night. We started off with the mezcal tamarind margarita (which was perfect) and switched to their local red cab with our entrees. For dinner we had 3 courses and the table side ceaser salad was so delicious made by Justin (I wish there was more than 6 lettuce pieces because the dressing was out of this world and would've loved to enjoy it more) Definitely try the brisket which they slow roast for 8 hours. The complementary wood fire bread with rosemary smoked butter was delicious as well. Props to our server (unfortunately we don't remember his name) but he explained the menu from top To bottom with excellent explanations. The only thing I would skip on is the octopus, tasted a little one dimensional but the pairing with the sorbet saved it. Also the house made tortilla chips tasted a little stale. Otherwise, Thank you for this experience to remember and a great start to our vacation! read more

Such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! My friends & I unfortunately didn't make a reservation (I recommend you do), but we were still able to be sat within 15 minutes of arriving. Not only does this beautiful restaurant have a lovely ambiance, but the service was truly incredible. ALL staff members were extremely knowledgeable on their dishes & extremely attentive & kind. The chef sent out little appetizers which were delicious & presentations reflected that!! The Cesar salad is a must as the dressing is prepared in front of you. I ordered a food item, which unfortunately wasn't as expected. I spoke to the waiter & was accommodated with a smile & understanding. I was so nervous truly to share my concern, but was treated well & even gave me more reason to give 10/10! Thank you again to the staff for making this a memorable experience with delicious cocktails! read more

The atmosphere was absolutely stunning not one detail left undone. The little coat tree next to the table was a nice addition for me to put my jacket and purse. The drinks and the glasses they came in were amazing and unique. The food was delicious and made you feel like you were at a Michelin star restaurant. There were servers standing by waiting to attend to all of your needs. There was a beautiful live music singer to round out the evening and experience. I had the mushroom tacos, which were delicious. The octopus ceviche also delicious. The bread with smoked. Butter was a culinary delight. I had the blackened shrimp which I was a little disappointed as I felt like the shrimp was more charred than seasoned so quite honestly, this deserves a 4.75 star. A very special place! read more

This was one of the highlights of our trip. The decor was breathtaking. You walk into the restaurant, but then realize the whole restaurant is open air and there are all these beautiful hanging lanterns. All the food was delicious and the service was phenomenal. From the complimentary bread & butter to the live music, everything was thoughtfully and beautifully executed. It was more than dinner, it was an experience. Well worth the slightly higher price tag. read more

Two years in this location, and From the time we walked in it was obvious this was a special restaurant. It's focus on sustainabIlity, local flavor infusions, and Impeccable service, coupled with an engaging outdoor dining space make it a must in San Jose Del Cabo. read more

Lovely outdoor area with live music and very attentive staff. Impressive menu with lots of local and delicious options. Portions are generous and everything including the mushroom butter for roles is well thought out. Must try if you're in the area! read more
Phenomenal food and service! We shared the seasonal salad, which was full of fresh greens, pears, apples, beets. Then we had the surf & turf taco, blackened shrimp, and tikin-xic fish; all were delicious. The bread and flavored butters served with entrees are heaven. For dessert, we shared the churros with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce-perfect! Manuel was a helpful and attentive server. The setting is beautiful and relaxing. A meal at Don Sanchez is an experience. read more
