This place has been recommended to me several time both a couple different people - and I now know why. Nice place (under a large palapa) and the night we stopped in they had a singer starting at 7pm. Drinks we just OK, but I tried their dirty martini and it was a bad choice! I followed up with a cold hibiscus tea with vodka and loved it. Tacos were amazing and the chips and salsa was equally delicious. Definitely order the home made guacamole. My personal recommendation is the riblet taco - great flavor, but you can't go wrong on any of the taco choices.

Great food, great staff, and great setting. Meat quality was great, everything was fresh and on point, the beverages were good. The overall meal was delicious and the fresh watermelon juice was crazy. Will definitely be back.
Right from the start amazing service ! Our waitress was so sweet and welcoming ! If you want real authentic Mexican food, this is the place to eat ! The tacos de arachera were so delicious !
Tucked away on a side street in San Jose del Cabo, this is a jewel. From the moment you're welcomed in until you walk out it's the vibe you craze down here. Smiles everywhere and then the chip platter arrives and it's WOW to the end. Guac? Outrageous Stuffed baked potato with pastor, a great combo of flavors and Deb's stone bowl just is huge and fantastic. Then you see a basket and think "why not?" and its the best flour tortilla you've ever eaten. Jasmine took such great care of us i had to take a picture with her and the whole wonderful staff joined in. Best night you can have in San Jose!!! Yelp it, go eat, drink and laugh.
Hand down one of my old time favorite places in San Jose. This place has grown so much from the time we use to come here long time back. The locals now figured out this gem and you can never go wrong with this place. Food is always amazing and very flavorful. The people working provide great service and always on top of things. The ambiance at night is more enjoyable with the live music that starts later into the evening.
Not sure if I am reviewing the same location, but since it's likely owned by the same people, wanted to say this review is for the San Jose Del Cabo restaurant. Everything about this restaurant was great. We came close to closing time on a Sunday so it was pretty dead, but I can see how busy and lively this place can be on a Friday or Saturday night. Service was great, the food was really good, and drinks tasty. The only thing I'd say is check your bill. They didn't overcharge us but since I had an idea of what the bill would be in USD, I was shocked to see it was about $20 USD more. After talking to the waitress, she explained that paying in pesos is cheaper at the current 20 pesos per dollar rate. If you pay with a credit card, their exchange is 15 pesos per dollar. That said, we had enough to pay in pesos and took them up on that offer. You may not care but $20 USD is three drinks in Cabo. I had no problem with them determining the exchange rate as it is their restaurant, but I think it should be mentioned or there should be a sign, as most places do offer that info upon arrival. Would definitely return!
Another 5* so yummy so good meal! Eddie did a great job!! Great live singer on a Thursday night after the art walk. On special request Eddie made it happen..... Ed Sheeran Perfect song in English and Spanish wow amazing!! Really fabulous! Food was incredible and spicy margaritas were so great.
This place was recommended by no less than a handful of locals while in Cabo. Stepping into the restaurant, you know you're in a good spot when the amount of tourists is almost nil. Seafood items is where they shine, anything with fish/shrimp/octopus!
Cuisine: 7 Service: 7 Decor: 8 Value: 7 Overall: 7 This festive open air restaurant certainly draw in a mix of locals and tourists. The live acoustic music was a nice touch too. On a warm night, with a little breeze, it's a pretty good place to grab some food and drinks. Sitting near the Al Pastor carving station, we enjoyed a nice show whenever someone ordered this item. The server would blast the flames and shave the pork for the tacos. Lastly, with a flick of the wrist, a piece of pineapple from the top of the spit would come flying down onto the plate, perfectly landing on the tacos. This was an absolute delight to watch. As for the food, the previously mentioned Al Pastor Tacos were quite delicious. Another interesting dish was the No Que No (Didn't You Say No), which was a cheesy concoction of poblano peppers, skirt steak, and pork shoulder (though I am pretty sure it was pork chop because of the bone that was included). Popped a little bit of everything into a chewy tortilla, add a little hot sauce and fresh salsa ... ... mmm so good. Chicharron de Queso (Thin Rolled Up Fried Cheese) was also an interesting appetizer, though quite filling. However, we did not enjoy the Pata de Res (Cow's Foot Tostada) because you can't really taste it like in a Menudo. Another fail was the Molcajete (combination of meats, cheese & vegetables), which was our least favorite item and most expensive. Luckily, our last bite of the meal was their Churros with four dipping sauces. Crunchy and airy, these were the best version we had on the trip. For that reason alone, we'll likely be back next time in Cabo.
The guacamayas in San Jose is WAY better than the Cabo location. It's always filled with a mix of locals and tourists. The pastor tacos with extra pineapple are incredible and their stuffed potatoes are killer as well. Ask your server for meat recommendations but we love the flank steak on top. Service is generally pretty good, just depends on how busy they are. Ambiance is really fun here as well, most of the time they have live music of some sort. Great little find, put it on your list.

The molcajete is fabulous, and the variety set of salsas and such they bring make every dish perfect. We always go at least once while staying in Cabo. Jazmine was a wonderful waitress, with many others waiting and ready to serve. Very friendly atmosphere. We sat upstairs overlooking the street. read more

Hand down one of my old time favorite places in San Jose. This place has grown so much from the time we use to come here long time back. The locals now figured out this gem and you can never go wrong with this place. Food is always amazing and very flavorful. The people working provide great service and always on top of things. The ambiance at night is more enjoyable with the live music that starts later into the evening. read more

One of my favorites when in San Jose Del Cabo. Little off the beaten path but worth the walk or cab ride. Rolled cheese, stuffed potato and pastor tacos are a MUST! You won't be disappointed! read more

Really enjoyed this place as our first authentic restaurant experience! Located in an area near residential and other small shops. Lots of tourists come here which made me feel like i was in the right place. They put all these salsas on our table right away, i looveee salsas so was very happy. Asked if we wanted to order a drink so i drank a strawberry margarita which was tasty and very sweet (could not finish). The guac was a little hard but still good, nice thick chips. Highlight was the carne asada tacos for me. We ordered 4 (2 each) and they gave 2x the amount taco places in US give. I was full after one. The asada was so juicy and flavorful as well. Not like in America. Was very happy with the meal. I sprinkled all the salsas on the tacos and ate all the pico de gallo and onions as well. Our whole meal was $40 US dollars and we tipped 100pesos. Would def recommend to check out!! read more

This is a must when in San Jose del Cabo. The service and ambiance is amazing. Our waitress was super attentive even with our small language barrier. The restaurant was all together wonderful. Authentic spectacular food. The fried cheese roll is a must do not skip. Definitely recommend and if you miss this restaurant you're missing out on one heck of an experience. Tried this place on recommendation of our hotel shuttle driver. Easy to find and on one the main streets but away from the crowds of the marina. Restaurant has an open air concept which was very nice in the warm weather and food for people watching. Definitely ask for a fan as that helps keep it cool and helps with keeping flies somewhat at bay. Compared to many of the other places in the area, prices here more reasonable and food was solid. Definitely saw more local ppl than some other places closer to Marina. For a total of 5 tacos (shrimp, fish x2, grilled octopus, and a "volcano" cheese and barbacoa), one whisky cocktail, one pina colada, chips, and bottle water, total was ~$40, which is not bad considering prices in cabo nowadays can be quite expensive. read more

We asked our driver to take us somewhere authentic and we ended up here. He said it had fresh fruits and boasted them having the best sopes. Lucky we which was me, my father and my two teens. I didn't eat many places in Mexico but out of them all this one had the MOST authentic Mexican food. They had their own brand of tequila in this huge open airy restaurant with leaves for a roof. Fresh salsas topped our table as I ordered a very refreshing Mojito. Don't be like me and think Mexican food in America is what you are going to get because if I tell you I was slightly embarrassed to ask the waitress to explain everything on the menu. And the way she looked at me like if this girl don't hurry up and eat and go away. Probably the most confused and touristy I have ever looked in my life. I managed to get a tostada which I thought was simple enough. My teens got some BANGING beef tacos and I think my dad got the sopes. They had a huge pork roasting in a spit with pineapples in top and bottom. And across from us a group of young locals came in to drink beers and chill. They had the Michaeloda I was so freaking jealous as if I didn't have the opportunity to order. I just didn't know what that was. Anyway we left full and I was super happy to get to eat authentic Mexican food even if it wasn't my idea and I was like super scared when we pulled up. Nothing to be afraid of but some fresh salsas and tequila. I hope one day I get to return. I would love to try more things. read more
Our friends had taken us to this location this past week because it is their favorite restaurant in San Jose Del Cabo. Their flank steak molcajte is something that I will dream about forever. This was literally the BEST meal of my life and I want to go back! It is big enough to split between 2-3 people. We ordered 2 for four people and had enough leftovers (adding homemade tortillas and beans from the house around the corner) for a delicious breakfast. There is also a cooked cheese appetizer that was delicious. I also had a jalapeño margarita which was phenomenal. 10/10 recommend this place. Hands down the best food of 2024, but probably of my life! *Did not take picture of food because we just dove in when it arrived and never stopped. read more
So good! Las Guacamayas was recommended to us at our condo. Since our first visit, we always go twice during our stay in the area. Service is good (sometimes great) and the food flavorful and filing. We usually come for Al pastor tacos and have tried a few other items. They serve you all the delicious salads and condiments with each meal. The salsa so good that we order chips for more salsa. The nopales side is always a treat along with their churros. This is an open air restaurant and they have an upper level that is used during their busy nights. Nights usually entail live music that can get so loud it's difficult to have table conversations. Look forward to next years visit. read more

Last night was my 5th time at Guacamayas and it never disappoints! My first visit was in 2019. The wait staff and host are so friendly and they are genuinely happy to help you. Lots of locals eat here. I have eaten so many items off the menu over the past few years and everything it wonderful. The menu is in Spanish on one side and English on the other, so ordering is easy. I think my favorite menu item is "No Qué No", which is flank steak with poblano chilis and cheese. They put in just the right amount of cheese (I hate having to pick melted cheese off my food). We even ordered Chicken Fajitas to-go so we could have them for lunch today. The restaurant itself is open air with a thatched roof. It gets hot in there and sometimes smokey from the kitchen. If you sit upstairs above the kitchen, be prepared for smoke! Last night's musician was very talented and we enjoyed listening to him. read more

When I think about the ideal taco, I think of Las Guacayamas. Simply put, it checks every box that I have. 1- Exceptional meat: Any time I walk by a taco shop and see meat being shaved right off the spit, I know those involved aren't f'n around. As a vegetarian who eats meat once in a blue moon, if I do end u pargtaking I'm not going to throw my ethics under the bus for a subpar cut of meat. Sorry, won't do. And thankfully, when eating at Las Guacamayas, I got exactly what I wanted. It's quality meat, the type that doesn't need to be excessively seasoned or camouflaged with other ingredients to make it palatable. At the same time, it's not overbearing by itself. It plays nice with the other components and does so with ease. So yeah, you gotta go with the al pastor- it's just nonnegotiable AND you'll be glad you did. 2- Authentically made: Personally, I find the whole idea of "authenticity" to have become somewhat gatekeepy and pretentious, but you will find that Los Guacamayas serves a more traditional type of Mexican taco. It's all about the meat, sauces, and a well-executed tortilla. 3- Perfectly sized: The portions here are perfect. Big enough to where a couple of tacos will satiate you, but not leave you clutching your stomach. in agony. And that's just talking about the tacos. If you prefer something a bit more adventuresome (maybe even borderline gluttonous) you can find yourself munching on classics such as the fried cheese. (absolutely naughty in how good it is) With live music, tasty cocktails, a personalized sauce tray, and kind staff- Las Guacamayas has created a space that is just gimmicky enough to be fun, but focused on food first. Definitely worth a try if you're in the Los Cabos area. read more
