I have gotten a chance to visit a few times and have had most of their menu. The fajitas are on point and very good. I usually order them for carryout. The late night tacos are very good too. They hit the spot when you're having a few drinks on the rooftop with a view. I usually like visiting during the weekdays. My fav Bartenders are Kristina and Rian. I went to this bar tonight because I wanted to try their margaritas. I get there around 5 and there a 90 minute limit for how long you can stay there (I get that) so it's a little warm so I decided on a frozen margarita. I asked the waitress which one would she recommend. She recommended the passion fruit one. I said yes I'll take it. When I tasted it .. it was the sweetest tartest thing I've ever had. I told her I couldn't drink it because it was too sweet. And I asked for the grande margarita. I tasted it and for some reason it tasted like a flat soda. So I asked the bartender.. did you put soda in this? He said yeah .. I said .. o think the soda is flat .. so he takes it back and makes it again . But this time not as flat but still terrible. So my friend comes and asks for a margarita but asks what's in it. The bartender describes the normal ingredients and my friend orders a Margarita. Now my friend tells me that the margarita is terrible it tastes like a mocktail but it didn't have soda in it. So I'm confused as to why my drink has soda in it . So I asked the bartender why.. he says well the waitress said you thought the first drink was too sweet so she on her on unbeknownst to me told him to make me a skinny margarita (that I did not ask for) . I told him that I never ordered a skinny margarita. He said well I've already made you three drinks soooo.. ( mind you each one was 13.00 a pop) so I just looked at him and said ok.. I'm not sending it back I just wanted to know why was there soda in my margarita. So I decided to order another drink like my friend to see if I would like the mocktail.. it was awful. I just succeeded to the fact that they just don't make good margaritas. So in walks Ester after the shift change . She's upbeat nice and I watched her make a few drinks correctly. I asked her over and explained my dilemma. She explained how they make their margaritas and suggested some adjustments to the mix that would suit my preferences . The margarita she made was delish. She was so nice and attentive. We didn't see our waitress again until we ordered our last drink from ester and our waitress told us we had to leave. I explained to our waitress that we just ordered from ester . She paused and said we got to leave and she's getting our check. My bf and I came here for happy hour. We shared the empanadas (chicken & chorizo) and they were pretty good! Can't go wrong with empanadas. Then we shared the angus beef & chorizo sliders. They were really delicious! I really enjoyed them! We also shared the nachos. They were decent. We've had better nachos elsewhere but they were still good. Stopped by for a quick bite and a drink this afternoon after a hair appointment. I sat at the bar. Bartender was excellent gave me great recommendations. Drinks were made so deliciously I stayed for three instead of one (I Ubered). I didn't catch his name, younger gentleman with dark long hair he had it pulled back in a bun and goatee. I've been to this location several times and never once had a bad or mediocre experience, but today was by far the best. Great guest service and food was amazing as always and lighting fast. This place is good if you want to party till you drop (but only till 2 am). They have a rooftop, although it's horribly situated so you don't get too see much. The music is loud and fun for dancing on the second floor. The floor gets real sticky real quick. It's mostly full of college kids and recent grads, which is fine but is full of yuppie bros mostly. They hire extra pretty girls to annoy you with promotional deals. The line also gets unreasonably long sometimes. Not my type of scene unless I am getting my dance on with the right people. read more

Don Titos you have found the secret to my heart. Scrumptious Mexican food, tequila, and a rooftop bar. Don Titos is a must in Clarendon, which is evident by the lines of people trying to get in on a Friday or Saturday night. Either way, it's worth the wait. It's a huge improvement from Eventide and they did an amazing job with it. The food is really good, and I'm a Mexicana lover so you should trust my taste buds. The lomo Saltado might be my favorite on the menu, but the seafood dumplings, ceviche and shrimp tacos are also delicious. As for the drinks, get the jalapeño marg and ask for it extra spicy! I've also been to brunch and highly recommend the huevos rancheros and egg, cheese and bacon tacos. My friends and I went nutssss for the churros and caramel sauce too. Came here after work last night with coworkers for happy hours and dinner. Was fortunate to get a table within 25 minutes but was more fortunate to get Kelli as our server. She was incredible. I didn't come to Don Tito actually expecting good service. It was funny because I was the first one at the table and when a few coworkers arrived I made sure they ordered with Kelli and not at the bar because she was so fast and you could tell she cared. As the night went on and more coworkers arrived, the ones already there were saying the same thing as I "order with our server because she is awesome". Please pass on to Kelli my appreciation for her outstanding service and let her know that I woke up with no hangover after 17 margaritas! read more

Yo, I came here ready to drink and eat. And their happy hour delivered. Drinks were reasonably storng for the price, and service was good. The $6 COCKtail creation was pretty good and stronger than most single day cocktails served up at happy hours at other bars. HIGHLY recommend the nachos. I am a first-time customer writing to express my discontent with the bar service of this restaurant last night at approximately 8:45 PM. While I do not think that my friend or I said or did anything off-putting or offensive that would result in such negligence, the bartender refused to engage us in any helpful conversation when we asked him about menu items. When he brought us an order of tacos, he provided no napkins, utensils, or individual plates. They quickly fell apart and their pieces scattered all over the plate and counter. Seeing this outcome, he still provided no napkins, utensils, or plates until eventually sparing us a single napkin and a single fork to split between the two of us when we asked him for the items we needed to enjoy the food. Although I hate to make assumptions, this bartender seemed to intentionally avoid us, almost as if he was attempting to signal that we were not welcome, but I can think of no reason for such treatment as we were neither unruly nor rude. Acquiring his attention was difficult, as he was more concerned with displaying his suggestive Christmas shirt to the surrounding patrons and high-fiving his shorter bartender counterpart than providing the services typical of a bar restaurant environment. Needless to say, we left for a nearby restaurant at which the bartender treated us with the same respect we showed him, but the experience at Don Tito was thoroughly repellant and caused a poor start to an otherwise fun night. read more

I was just passing through town and wanted a burrito not from a fast food joint. They didn't have burritos, but the menu looked good enough to forego my craving. I ordered a fried avocado taco, a mushroom taco, and the spinach and brussels sprouts salad sans bacon (I'm a vegetarian). I'm always a little mistrustful of balsamic, so I asked for a side of ranch in case the balsamic was a no. Unfortunately for me, even though they reassured me that the ranch was in the bag, it was not, and equally unfortunate, the balsamic was a no. So I choked down a really disappointing and wilted spinach salad with very little flavor save for the unappetizing balsamic dressing (I just really needed some greenery at this point in my trip or else I'd probably have thrown it away, honestly). Perhaps you imagine that the bacon would've transformed the salad into something much less uninspired, but you would be wrong. I ate my fair share of bacon in my pre-vegetarian days and I can imagine what bacon would add (salt and fat, basically, two of the four elements of a satisfying dish). It probably would taste better with bacon, but it wouldn't be rescued entirely. It was just a concert of too many flat notes. The mushroom taco was acceptable, but it was very spicy. I like spice and can tolerate high heats, but heat isn't a flavor. It didn't have enough flavor to warrant that level of heat. The one shining gem was the fried avocado taco. It was basically a fish taco for vegetarians. It has all the elements of a proper fish taco (speaking as someone who lives near the Mexican border and has eaten many fish tacos); cabbage, a sweetish dressing, and the breaded fried element. Except instead of fish inside the breading there is creamy avocado. It was really good. If I went back I'd order three friend avocado tacos and nothing else. But since I'm not from around here I won't go back. I will say that the woman who gave me my food (the bartender?) was friendly and so was the hostess. The other dude was not particularly friendly but he wasn't rude either. And I also realize that this is mostly a bar, which is why I give it three stars instead of two or even one. I figure food is secondary to their main purpose so I'm giving them a bit of a break. I do think it should be a bit more clear from the website and menu that this is primarily a bar, if for no other reason than to help folks manage expectations. Perhaps if I was from the area and understood what relative pricing signified (like where I come from food in this price range is probably not going to be stellar but should be passably good) I might have had a better idea. Which is another reason I'm offering a more generous three stars than how I actually felt about my food. Earring on the side of fairness in consideration of my own lack of insight. read more

Happy hour is great, and it's hard to beat half-priced bottles of wine on Mondays. The first time I went I had the happy hour tacos (chicken and steak) and a bottle of wine. It was perfect, despite the slow service. The next time I went on a Tuesday and it was packed. Took us a while to find a couple of seats at the bar but finally we were successful, and excited for the half off tacos specials. I wanted to try the carne asada tacos and asked for them without cheese but the bartender said that would be a modification, so I could pay full price to get them without cheese, or get the discount with the cheese. Slightly disappointing but I understand how it could slow down the kitchen. Anyway, I ordered them without modifications and they were WAY too oily. While the flavor was good, I literally had to hold the taco vertically to let the oil pour out. Then she tried to charge me full price, even though I didn't modify the tacos. Anyway, moral of the story is that I enjoy the happy hour tacos much more than the carne asada, although I'll probably be back on a future Tuesday to try something else. read more

I had been resisting Don Tito because I was so disappointed about Eventide leaving. Well, I'm eating my salsa now because I've been there 3 times in 3 months. The set up is similar to Eventide with a more casual vibe. The food is excellent. I love the avocado tacos, and the enchiladas, which can definitely last you more than one meal and the quesadillas are good too. The chips and salsa are delicious. It was some of the best salsa we've had, which is saying a lot growing up in the south where Mexican food is more plentiful. As a vegetarian, I was not disappointed by the flavors or the options. They also have good happy hour deals. Try to go when it's not prime time or for early dinner for the best experience. read more

Okay, I hardly ever eat Mexican food but because I was hanging out with my cousins while visiting and the location was near my hotel, we tried this spot based on my cousin previous dining experience. Our wait was not too long the decor and atmosphere was real festive and this country boy love the big city lights scene. Our server Tatianna was delightful and was very attentive. Based on her recommendation, I tried the Lomo Saltado and it was fantastic. I also ate the Tequila chicken Lime taco which was good, but the Lomo Saltado was the highlight of my dining experience. I know my cousin must have tried 3 or 4 different cocktails and at one point o thought we had tried every taco on the menu between the three of us. I still come here and still love it. The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly and attentive even if they're not your waiter - everyone comes by to see if we need anything. Good happy hour specials (different specials everyday) and the mac and cheese bites give me life! This place is huge! Really nice bars on every floor. Rooftop is where most folks gravitated towards. Drinks were moderately priced. $8 for a tequila shot. Nothing out of the ordinary. The grows is really mixed because Arlington is a more hipster area and "upscale". Not much hip hop music played if you're interested in that. It was my turn to select a place for my friends and I. Everyone was down for Mexican food and tequila so I decided on Don Tito. I called ahead to make reservations, but they do not accept reservations on Fridays. However, they gave me the option to add my name to the wait list and they sent a text confirming that my name was on the list. Once you and your party arrives you will get the next available table. After spending 30 minutes looking for parking, we were definitely looking forward to a drink( or 2,3,4...). I gave the host my name and he said my name wasn't on their list. He said I can check upstairs so I did and my name wasn't on the list. He said someone could've taken my info but didn't enter it into the system. He also said they have a table open, but they are expecting and important party. Then, I remembered they sent me a text! I showed him and we were given the next available table. Long story short, the food and drinks were good. I had a rice bowl, mango margaritas, and danced the night away! I gave them 4 stars, because the overall service was good and they quickly resolved the issue and aplogized several times for the mishap. read more

I love Mexican food, Clarendon, and Happy Hour. Put these all together and Don Tito's should be the perfect place for me, right? I was really conflicted between 3-4 stars on this one, but ultimately decided to bump up because service for our small party of 5 during happy hour was just what I would expect it to be - attentive but non-invasive, with a "last call" request before happy hour ended, and splitting the bill without too much fuss while still getting our orders right. Happy hour drink menu here is great - margaritas and beer on special with a specialty cocktail option (on Wednesday when I went it was a whiskey margarita which, despite a recipe for a hungover Thursday, actually tasted really good). Food specials were so-so - $3 for tacos, $7 for guac, quesadillas, etc. Definitely cheap for the DC/Arlington restaurant scene but a little lacking in terms of quality. The tacos were really nothing special. Ordered the carnitas which came in a very thin soft corn tortillas (you have the option for soft flour instead but corn is a personal preference) that broke apart the second you took a bite. Meat with a little pico on top, lettuce, and generic cheddar cheese. Something I would expect from Taco Bell but not from a restaurant that's a little more upscale. Side Note: Comparison to Taco Bell is not an insult as I love their offerings. The dinner menu itself looked good but if the happy hour tacos were any indication, are probably overpriced and lacking in quality. Overall - I will probably be back. Would recommend coming for the drinks, service, and atmosphere. If you're looking for great Mexican food at a reasonable price, I would go elsewhere. read more

I have gone here 3 times since they opened. The first visit did not impress me too much. Not much flexibility on the schedule, happy hour items or helpful wait staff. Second time was for dinner. Long wait for water refills, ordering and the check. Third time was on the rooftop. Nice area, two bars, good seating. Wait staff issue still the same, even slower since they had to go downstairs. Order to about 20 minutes to get - i think because it was forgotten until they had to walk by us each time. Update: Scott, the owner, messaged me promptly about our bad experience to apologize. More willing to give Don Tito another try after his professionalism. I've been to Don Tito a bunch of times at this point - I'd say at least 30 times. Their happy hour is fun and the wait for drinks is never too long even when they are super crowded on week nights. Unfortunately after my last two visits I won't be back there again because their food quality and customer service has gone down greatly since the first several times I have been there. A few weeks ago my boyfriend and I went for lunch. They stopped putting their (really good) hot sauces on the table so I had to ask for them, and I was still only brought a tiny plastic cup of each sauce. Service was fine that day but the tuna taco I had was so awful that I can't completely trust their food anymore. The tuna was smushy, there was waaay too much seaweed salad in the taco and the shell was completely soaked in what I would call "seaweed water". It was really, really bad. I told the waitress that the taco was not good at all and she said "oh, I'm sorry" and that was that. Okay, fine. My most recent visit is the main reason why I won't be back. I was tasked yesterday with finding a rooftop bar for me and ~20 work friends to go have a drink and some food. I called several places in the area to see when their rooftop opened. I actually called Don Tito twice because my first conversation was a little confusing, but basically both people I talked to told me the rooftop would open at 4:00. I made it very clear that we had a big group coming and they assured me they would be ready. We showed up right at 4:00 and were told the rooftop would open at 4:30 by a snarky hostess. I asked to speak to a manager and told them I had called in twice to confirm when the rooftop was opening. She ignored my request to speak to a manager and repeated that we couldn't go up because it wasn't ready. She said they would hurry to get it ready before 4:30 so it may be only a few minutes. We waited until 4:30 and then checked in to make sure the rooftop was ready. A guy at the hostess table said it was ready so our huge group closed their tabs and started walking towards the stairs to the roof, only to be stopped by the original girl at the hostess table who told us it wasn't ready. She didn't give any kind of ETA even though she more than understood that's what we were there for. The guy at the hostess table was very nice and professional and apologized. It would have been a pain to move places at this point because of the size of our group so we stayed and eventually the rooftop opened. The rest of the night was fine but I do not plan to ever go back to Don Tito. If their food and customer service quality continues to get more loose, as I've definitely noticed, they won't be around much longer. Shame. read more
