    Serious meat on thick crust
    Katrina S.

Ordered through uber eats while staying on Tybee, since it's hard to find delivery. We ordered a pineapple and pepperoni on thin crust and a serious meat on thick crust. We thought the pizza was delicious and stood out because of the acidic sauce, square cut, and unique crust. The toppings were plentiful and tasty. Loved the ratio of sauce to toppings- it was top notch!

I've been wanting to try Donatos since I saw the picture perfect thin crust pepperoni pizza online. I accidentally deleted my first review and I'm happy I did because I put my phone down in frustration and warmed up some pizza. The taste of this pizza almost took me back to a old pizza parlor from my childhood called Pietro's Pizza (which is amazing). I usually don't do thin crust but there's held up well and had a decent flavor and the thin crust didn't make me feel so bad after having one too many slices. The cinnamon bread was trash, I mean that's where it ended up (I didn't even take a bite). It was visually burnt, literally hard as a rock and even when I went to the middle piece hoping for some moisture it literally crumbled. That was a huge disappointment because dessert is important (especially when you're craving it). I know that some employees will send delivery items out not caring about the quality because they aren't face to face with the customer. For that purpose I'm going to give them another chance, one day, down the road..... But it'll definitely be dine in.

Very clean establishment relatively new lookin and the counter lady who helped me was nice. I had a buy one get one coupon so I gave them a try. Ordered the hot honey Pizza which was relatively good, not great, but just so so, pretty edible so not a bad place if you're in a pinch. I will say don't waste your money on any wing products. I ordered the traditional wings and boneless so I'd rate them at a 1-2, baked, bland tasting and undersized for the price.

This restaurant used to be great and especially because they offered a great tasting gluten free pizza, Covid-19 cleanliness and good service. And we've recommended it to many friends. But recently, all of that has changed and I'm tired of it. For one, this is the fifth time that I've ordered double green peppers and there is basically not enough green peppers for one order. How much do peppers cost that an order with only two ingredients chicken and extra bell peppers, would someone make the decision to jinx the order? And barely any chicken as well. Tired of it......We'll be going elsewhere.

Hawaiian Pizza - which also has sliced almonds and cinnamon - how different is that. It's really good!

Thanks to my yelp contact Katie, I had bookmarked Donato's pizza. I love very thin crust square cut pizza. It's like a Chicago thin crust pizza thing. Well come to find out, the owners of Donato's are from Ohio. They also have Ohio State decor on their walls. We ordered our Hawaiian pizza that we love. They were nice enough to point out to me that their Hawaiian pizza not only has the usual pineapple and ham, it also has sliced almonds and cinnamon. I never heard of this in my life. Well, for sure, we will try something different. Wow cinnamon and almond was a nice surprise. Who da thunk Hawaiian pizza + cinnamon + sliced almonds?! Nope not me but it was very good!

Mild buffalo wings (served w/ranch or blue cheese)

Visiting from out-of-town and decided to give Donatos Pizza a try. Opted for thin crust. Pizza came w/ample toppings. Sausage was a bit spicy, but good. Ordered mild wings, not realizing they were mild buffalo ‍ I'm not a fan of spicy, but my husband enjoyed them. Ordered online for pickup and everything was ready when I arrived. Fast, convenient and easy. Highly recommend. (sorry for half devoured pics!)

This is a great local pizza place!! I didn't even know this place existed! I was actually at a Savannah Banana's game and they were giving away free pizza (they give away pizza every time they win a home game). I used my coupon to get a free pizza. Of course I figure they would have given us the small personal size pizza but no! It was actually a great size pizza! My friend and I shared the pizza and it was more than enough for the two of us. Great location and great friendly staff! Place was very clean!

These are a must try if you like wings. Chicken and pancake tacos were delicious. Pancakes had a touch of sweetness. Fried chicken inside with a spicy mayo. Topped with a strawberry salsa that worked well. 3 of these were very filling. Fun and very good. Son had the double wide footlong. Topped with sloppy Joe. After that the 2 sides were different. One had fried banana peppers. The other side more classic with toppings. Son said it was really good. Others had the ahi tuna salad. Tuna was perfectly rare. Salad was good and the wasabi dressing had great flavor without being too spicy. Service was quick even though jam packed. Also very friendly.

The whole place is designed to feel like the inside of a trailer--spray-painted antique chandeliers, old pictures of different trailer parks, and random little details everywhere. It's kitschy, but very intentional, and honestly pretty cool. We came in late after a 4h drive into town after work, and the staff was still super friendly and accommodating. No "we're about to close" energy, which I appreciated. We started with the creamy collard dip, which is basically their take on spinach-artichoke dip, but with collards. Really good. I do think the chips were a little too heavy for the dip--a thinner chip would've been perfect--but that's a small note. The chicken pancake tacos were probably my favorite. The chicken was fried perfectly and still really moist. And at this point, I'm convinced Savannah just knows how to cook chicken. Everywhere we went, the chicken was consistently good. My partner got the grilled apple pie sandwich, which has fried chicken, grilled apples and bacon. He's not even a big pork person, but that bacon was so crispy and the whole combination just worked. Even the waffle fries were good--crispy, fresh and actually seasoned. We had the Grateful Dead and Wicked Kiwi cocktails, plus a couple of shots, and the drinks were strong, good and reasonably priced. Honestly, I don't have a ton of notes here. It's not trying to be some elevated dining experience. It's just a really good late-night spot with good food, strong drinks, friendly service and a fun atmosphere. We sat inside because Savannah in August was not about to have us sitting on anybody's patio. Definitely recommend, especially if you're looking for somewhere to eat late. It was a vibe, the food was good, and it did exactly what it needed to do.

While I'd advise you to slip staying in the hotel where this restaurant sits, the restaurant itself (and the other one downstairs, fleeting) were bright spots in an otherwise lackluster hotel stay. We enjoyed breakfast here a few days. The service is fantastic (we saw Miranda a couple times and she made us feel like regulars, remembering our order and offering some sight seeing tips), all staff was friendly, fun and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is well done, with a Mediterranean influnce. We enjoyed the shakshuka (highly reco you add the kefta and ask for oven bread instead of the sourdough) and the Turkish eggs (also reco asking for the oven bread with this one), both dishes were flavorful and well executed (and we try shakshuka everywhere we see it!) We also had evening snacks one night and enjoyed the hummus with the mushroom add on and some of their signature drinks. Staff In the evening was also strong and didn't disappoint. If we ever find ourselves back in Sav we won't stay at the hotel Thompson but we will stop into Bar Julian!
