This is a stand as part of the surrounding yard which houses other food trucks and things. Apparently, one opens a tab for the entire place, which I got a bit of a sassy explanation on as it wasn't entirely clear to me. I usually don't sweat service issues too much, fundamental attribution error and all, but in this case when I got a text and came to pick up my pizza, I didn't get the salad I ordered, which I assumed was still coming but then when it didn't I had to go back and ask for it. They seemed confused about this. It's the hypocrisy of it that irks me; if you sass the customer for not getting your unusual service structure, but then you can't get it right yourself... It's rare that I would stiff working people on a tip. Very rare. The quality of ingredients was excellent. I'm not overwhelmed by salt, while the charred crust, pure tomato flavor, and rich dollops of cheese all delivered. It was a solid salad as well. But the pizza wasn't big and the toppings didn't cover that much of the crust, and the price was quite high, considering. It's always been puzzling to me with these combined operation or food hall type places; you'd think the economy of scale would bring the cost down, but then you've paid $25 for a moderately sized salad salad and a small plain pizza with no real service. We live in Savannah, but had never visited Starland Yard before. We have been trying all of the pizzerias in town and decided to give Pizzeria Vittoria a try. We enjoyed the Starland Yard experience and the people watching was great. Unfortunately, the pizza and salad was not. The signage led us to believe that the salad was loaded with veggies. In reality, it was a bowl of lettuce with a few tiny pieces of slice carrot on top. My wife and I are pizza lovers, but this was one of the worst pizzas that we have ever had, My wife actually refused to eat it after the first bite. I ate a couple of pieces but really didn't enjoy it at all. The crust was ok, but the tomato sauce obviously came straight out of can...it was runny and sweet...clearly not the puree'd fresh cherry tomatoes that they claimed. I gave them two stars because we enjoyed the atmosphere. The pizza and salad warranted one star or less. If you want a great pizza, try Vincenzo's on White Bluff...so far, the best we have found in Savannah. Mellow Mushroom runs a close second. read more

Came here with my mother and grandmother for lunch on a Saturday and it was quite busy! The shop is located in a more residential part of Savannah, so parking was a bit more challenging. It's in Starland Yard, which is a "yard" with various food trucks, lots of art, etc. Very cool little area! The pizza shop isn't a dine in, you order online or at a window there and wait for your pizza. There is a decent amount of outdoor seating available. But on a really busy afternoon it could be challenging to find seating. It was really nice to sit outside in the sun and enjoy our meal though. We ordered two pizzas, a classic margarita and a siciliana. They are roughly 10-12 inch pies that are cooked in a brick oven, so should expect some charring on the crust, but it tastes amazing! They were busy, so the pizza did take a while to come out. I didn't mind though because the quality and authenticity of the food made it 100% worth the wait. You could see them making the dough and firing the pizzas in the ovens. The owner was in the kitchen actively making pizzas as well. You could tell they were very busy and swamped with orders. The staff was so kind though! When our pizzas came they looked delightful! Pizza Napoletana is one of my favorite styles of pizza. The dough was homemade and you could taste the high quality ingredients they used in and on their pizzas. The sauce wasn't too heavy and had a really great, fresh taste. The classic margarita was perfect. The quality of the mozzarella, with the fresh basil leaves, and that amazing red sauce provided for an excellent margarita pizza! The siciliana had capers, olives, lemon, anchovies, red sauce, and mozzarella on it. We wanted to try something different and we were glad we did. The capers made the whole pizza and worked so well with the saltiness of the anchovies. Nothing was too overpowering and you could taste each of the various toppings. The pizza wasn't heavy and the dough was nice and light, everyone liked the crust too. I would 100% recommend trying this place for a nice lunch in Savannah. My family and I got to two Diavola pizzas from here last week. The system is not intuitive because you give your credit card info as a kind of tab when you enter, and then order whatever you want, and then pay your tab at the end. The diavola pizzas were delicious and quite spicy. Hot honey was $2.50 extra, which I thought was too much for hot honey. It is a cool ambiance in the food truck area where it is located. Parking was easy street parking nearby. The worker was nowhere to be found and we waited about 5 min for him to return to take our order. When asked about the status of our order after waiting for a little while, one of the workers was not super friendly, but at least he was not rude. He brought the pizza out shortly after. This would be a great place for families, date nights, or large groups of friends. There is a variety of food to eat in the food truck area. It would have been nice to have been able to order it at the takeout window on the outside of Starland Yard, without having to go through the idiots at the gate, but what can I say? We went to the gate and were told we didn't need to start a tab or have our ids checked, if we weren't drinking. Since we were only ordering a pizza to go, we followed their instructions and went to stand in the pizza line, which was long. When we got to the front of the line, we were told we DID have to start a tab and would have to get out of line, go start one, then come back and wait in the long line all over again. I told the woman at the gate who had said no tab was required what had happened and she just shrugged her shoulders at me. When we got done, we then had to go close out our tab with the same woman, who made my husband jump through hoops. Long story short, we really enjoyed the pizza and the guys at Pizzeria Vittoria were great. The gate at Starland Yard, however, is a nightmare of unprofessionalism and petty behavior. While visiting Savannah I found this Pizzeria Vittoria on yelp and decided to try it. I love places that use fresh ingredients and keep things simple. We ordered the Mortadella pizza, pepperoni pizza, & the simple greens salad. The Mortadella pizza had a sun dried tomato sauce, mortadella, basil, oregano, ricotta cheese, & topped with fresh grated parmigiana. Pepperoni was pepperoni. The salad had root vegetables, buttermilk, pickled citrus (ruby red grapefruit & mandarin?) with a yummy balsamic vinaigrette. The atmosphere was very layer back and the concept of it's location (starland yard park) was great. With other local food trucks there you had more options than just a great pie. Grabbed a pizza while I was at Starland Yard. It looks like they were maybe closed to go inside so I didn't get to check the place out. I kept it simple with a pepperoni pie. About 10 minutes later I picked up my pizza from the window and took it to the table. A little smaller than I expected but it's a personal size. This neapolitan style pizza comes fresh out of the brick oven. The dough is super fresh and chewy. You can taste the light char and know for sure they're using top quality ingredients. Stopped by this place after getting a recommendation from my Uber driver. She was raving about this amazing wood fired pizza and I, being the pizza nerd that I am, could not pass up the opportunity to try it out. I'm no noob to pizza...in fact, since I purchased my own pizza oven about a year ago I've been practicing the craft myself and even gotten good enough to get some catering gigs....so going into this place the bar was already set pretty high. I was not disappointed. If you like spicy, get the Diavola. You will love it. It's got a nice kick to it but the spice doesn't overpower the other flavors. We also had to try a classic margherita - also fantastic. The boldness and freshness of the flavors makes every bite a "wow"! Just to be clear: this is not the kind of crap "pizza" you get at one of the big delivery chains - this is legit Neapolitan style pizza, cooked in a massive wood-fired oven imported from Italy. (The oven literally takes up about 1/4 of the inside) We were seated inside (only a few tables) but the place was busy all evening making to-go pies for people ordering from the window. There may be a bit of a wait but if you're a true fan of Neapolitan pizza it is well worth the wait. If you're too impatient, at least stop to watch the pizza making process with uncooked pies being turned into delicious pizza in about 2.5 minutes. I was about to post this review as I sit here in our booth, but this pizza is so good we decided to order another - the Lorraine. It's much like the diavola but with meatballs instead of sausage. Our server told us this and the diavola are their top sellers and it's easy to see why. Savannah's newest pizzeria dishing out classic Neapolitan style pizzas, welcome to the neighborhood guys! After looking into the place weeks before open date I read where the chef, Kyle Jacovino, "just wanted to make great pizza." Pretty great mission statement right?? I'll give it to him, he's on the right track. He's definitely got one of the more freshest pizzas I think I've had thus far. Using classic ingredients and a brick oven the size of a car, this mans dishing out solid pies left and right. The Neapolitan pizza train is one that many are jumping on here lately, but it may be safe to say that he's leading the pack, here in Savannah atleast. Jesse Blanco said one day he might be the 'Paula Dean of Pizza' one day lol. Kyle hung around the Florence for 3 years serving great food and he brought a handful of those pies over to Vittoria with him. So we went to see about them. 4 of us took action and enjoyed classic family style dining to get the best insight. Started with round of Ricotta & Padron bruschetta, Meatball Parm, and a Melon & Prosciutto. Great meatball parm and even better Bruschetta. You can tell it was super fresh ricotta used and such great intensity of flavors. Melon & Prosciutto was a hit as well with a light balsamic drizzle on it that brought it home. On to the pies. La Diavola was excellent, great flavors going on all pairing well with Calabrian chili's that were bursts of greatness in each bite. Excellent Crudo, very fresh and light flavors going on with this one. The Siciliana may have been my absolute favorite. One of the most active pizzas I've ever had where I could taste every single ingredient used in the creation of this pie. Highly recommend it. Last but not least the dang calzone is huge! Ordered it for the table and we barely could finish the thing. Great flavors going on with it as well. If there's one thing I can highlight in about all of them was the freshness of the dough used. It was light, fluffy, easy to break off yet firm and able to hold its own. Remarkable. This place would have all my stars and all of my money as well, but like all eateries on the first night there's a lot of kinks to work out. Servers seemed limited and running a tad bit behind. Only thing that was slowing them down this night from not selling out of pies sooner. I'll give it a little while and check back in but that's the main key improvement that would set these guys over the top. All in all great pies and great show, we will return! UPDATE (01/27): much needed update from 4 to 5 starts. The guys at Vittoria have proved time and time again that they know what it takes to sling some great pies. I also got the simple green salad with balsamic vinegarette. Everything was DELICIOUS. I had to slap family member's hands from trying to eat my food because theirs didn't compare to mine. Great pizza but a little on the pricey side. Both Jo (my wife) and I Love pizza and have had it all around the country CA to NY) and in Rome. We have been hearing about Vittoria's and finally made the trip out to have the Starland Vittoria's experience hoping the hype met the taste buds taste. After checking in at the booth in Starland we ordered a pizza and decided to share the El Diavolo. They had a nice wine menu but we opted to grab some drinks from the near by bar, and find a table. After sitting down we were texted that the pizza was ready (which was quick!)! The pie had a nice chewy caramelized crust and the meat toppings were excellent! The best part was the peppers that when cooked and the eaten were filled with a peppery oil that ran out which added a tangy and a little spiciness that made this pizza really good. The down side was the size, I didn't have a ruler but I am guessing 10" pie maybe 11" in diameter with inch or more of that the good tasting crust. The point is this is not a shareable pizza! We had their Holy Cannoli for dessert, in which one side was dipped in large dark chocolate chips the other fine pistachios! A good treat! Food and Beverages 4.5 Excellent pizza (I've had better, but not locally, at least this style). The cannoli was good and tasty as well! A wine list is available as well. Service 2.5 Counter Service ordering and you pick it up. Counter person was fine. Atmosphere 4 You have the Starland jibe and people watching is part of the entertainment, that and maybe a board game... Price 4 I think $16 for an individual pizza could be fine as the quality is here, but it's not a 5 for price for value.
