This is a nice quick option for lunch! Plenty of options of pretty good food and decent seating upstairs. The staff is friendly and get meals out fast.

I enjoyed my food. I thought this was one of the heartiest curry bowls I've had in DC. I also thought the katsu was especially yummy. Indoors, I thought the place was very clean. You also use the self-order kiosk to place your order, so the entire process was efficient. I will definitely come back again!

I've wanted to try Donburi for a while and it didn't disappoint! Their main items are rice bowls with different meats and toppings. The menu is small but sufficient. We ordered at the screen kiosks and had a short wait for our food. The inside is huge with two floors and tons of seating. The bowls were delicious with a lot of food for the price! They're simple- rice, meat, and a few toppings- but that lets the quality of the food shine through. They came with a fresh side salad as well. It's a great place for an easy lunch or dinner.

Comfort food at its finest! Located above a vape store, this place is a hidden gem for fast casual You order via the kiosk and grab a seat while you wait for your food. The menu doesn't have a lot of options but enough to account for everyone's taste whether that be curry dish or a rice bowl. Katsu curry: amazing curry flavor + CRISPY katsu!! The only thing is I wish there was a side or more of that katsu sauce. Mixed rice bowl: shrimp tempura and chicken were so CRISPY & the chicken was large pieces! I love the egg that is included in this meal + the sauce on the side (that had fish eggs might I add) was a fantastic addition! + for portion given the price it was well worth it in this economy! Service was super friendly.

This place is up some stairs, which lead directly to order screens and a pickup area, with seating up some more stairs. It's fast casual - so you put in your order, pick up your food, and bus your own trays. The folks working there were polite. I've had better curry and katsu, but this was enough to satisfy a craving should other options not be available. The chicken in the toridon wasn't bad, but isn't really the flavor profile I was looking for - it was drowned in what tasted like sweet sriracha. I can see this being a convenient spot to grab a bite during the workday, but probably wouldn't come back again unless hard pressed to find a better option.

Great tasting fast food served here. Prices are very good considering in DC area. Not accessible for handicap. Stairs up to restaurant and another level up for table seating.

The food (Butadon) was so bitter burn, not my style. The ebikatsu was so thick deep fat frying and has no black/eel sauce with it. Self order from kiosk and seated on 2nd floor. There're enough space to sit for 24 people. The bug are flying while I'm dining then I decided to take out instead and the table so sticky, I've spray alcohol and wipe the table but the bug still around (see VDO).

Who would've thought a great little spot was above a vape shop? Once you go upstairs, you're greeted by a modern ordering system with digital screens. Easy to use and quick! The atmosphere upstairs is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed lunch. The Christmas tunes added a festive touch. You pickup food at the counter when it's ready. The food was the real star of the show. The fried dishes were crispy and flavorful, just how I like them. Overall, a pleasant dining experience. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

An amazing lunch option that I recently discovered because I was craving Japanese food. The donburi Moriwase is essentially their bowl that has everything on it and it was delicious. Next time I will definitely be getting the sake don as their salmon was surprisingly fresh. Service was quick and nice. The restaurant itself is perfect for a solo lunch because there is a ton of seating upstairs, self order kiosk, and self serve water.

Delicious with large portions! A great lunch option if you're in the area. Service is quick and the workers are kind and accommodating. You order yourself at a kiosk which is quick and easy and there are photos next to the menu items which is helpful when deciding. Theres also plenty of seating on the second floor for dining in.

Small place but food is pretty nice! Next time they should probably try putting the sashimi inside a plate.

Solid donburi place in DC! The sakedon was really really good-- they didn't skimp out on the salmon sashimi and the rice was seasoned perfectly. Service was fast and ambiance was very casual-- good to go with friends!

Casual restaurant for delicious Japanese rice bowls... you order via the machines then get a device from the chefs for when your order is ready then go upstairs for dining/waiting. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are super friendly. I wasn't feeling well and couldn't do raw fish so I got a bowl of Butadon - Pork over rice topped with soy sauce, spring onions, sesame seeds, kimchi onions and wasabi, served with a small salad. It was all really delicious and filling. I would go back again.

I was impressed and by the experience and would definitely come back for a Japanese meal that did not focus solely on ramen or sushi. The ambiance is well done, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and able to answer any of our questions. To share, we got the spicy salmon roll, Karaage appetizer, and eggplant cheese appetizer. The spicy tuna roll was the most lackluster of the dishes, but the fish was fresh and the portion was decent for $12. The karaage appetizer was excellent. The chicken was moist and the coating was crunchy and super hot. The eggplant cheese was a surprise highlight of the meal. Pieces of eggplant in a melted cheese bowl made of eggplant was a simple combination. That was a very pleasant mix of textures. The pork Katsu was a highlight of the meal. Unfortunately forgot to take a picture, but the coding was super crispy and the portion size was pretty solid. The Unagidon or grilled eel bowl was also very well made and tasted great with the pickled ginger and seasoning on the side. The set came with miso soup which was very nice as well. My companions also got drinks which they said were well priced and good quality. Our overall meal cost somewhere in the range of $160 before tip which was reasonable given all of the items that we got. I look forward to my next visit!

A/C was nice and cool which I appreciated but found the place to be too loud for me once it filled out with more people. Service is courteous. I ordered the tomato salad and two sushi rolls. Yes I committed the sin of ordering just sushi at a kaiseki restaurant, gasp! So I guess I did this to myself since I found the food to be just ok. The spicy tuna roll was just not happening since all they did was drizzle hot sauce over the roll. I've been noticing this more at places, can we just say tuna roll with spicy dipping sauce instead? It's a bit misleading... but I guess I'll have to make sure to ask everywhere whenever I order spicy tuna. I am a believer in that if you're eating at a good restaurant and you ordered their less popular menu item that it should still be good but in this case, Ko didn't deliver. Anyways, I didn't have much of an appetite because of the hot weather so take this review with a grain of salt but I don't plan on returning unless someone can convince me otherwise and if I do, I'm not ordering sushi here.

The layout is interesting -- there's an upstairs when you walk in, but the sushi bar and a good bit of seating are downstairs. The menu is pretty straightforward with a mix of hand rolls, appetizers, specialty rolls, nigiri/sashimi, and traditional rolls. They also have a few solid combo deals, though I usually prefer trying a variety of items instead. Service was quick, which is always appreciated at a sushi spot. We ordered a few specialty rolls, two traditional rolls, and a couple orders of sashimi, all served together on one platter. The rolls were a great size -- filling without being overly large. The sashimi was fresh, and the traditional rolls really balanced out the meal nicely. The flounder and tuna sashimi were both excellent, and the California roll made with real crab was simple, fresh, and really satisfying. The total came out somewhere in the $70 range, so after tip and splitting it between two people, it was about $40 each to try multiple rolls and sashimi. Definitely fair pricing for the quality and amount of food. This spot had been on my list for a while, so I'm glad I finally made it over. I'd recommend checking out the menu beforehand so you can go in with a game plan and try the items that stand out most to you.

I ordered the 5 set hand roll with Hottie scallop, Kanpachi, Torch me slowly, Spicy salmon and Mango Tango. I loved the flavors of each one but the wrapping was tricky. Some of the rolls wouldn't come off because the wrapping had a lot of moisture so I ended up just eating it deconstructed. I prefer how Kazu Nori gives you each roll one at a time to prevent this. Overall great hand rolls but it's super messy so I'd give it a 3.8/5.

This is not a space to grab food if you're trying to have a conversation. We often found ourselves yelling across the table and when selecting items to share we crammed ourselves on one side of the booth squishing other patrons. Otherwise this would've been a 5 star review. Our waiter was amazing, albeit a bit distracted at times because of his service area, and helped advise us on the items we were interested in. We had: Koika No Karaage - their version of calamari - 10/10 - lightly fried with the most amazing texture and paired with a yuzu mayo. For the price I wish the serving size was larger but that's my only gripe. Kani - 10/10 - snow crab with spicy mayo - 2 came with the order and they were amazing. The Japanese crest was the perfect contrast to softness of the snow crab. It was also seasoned well. Hotate Toryufu - 10/10 - the scallops melted in your mouth. Amazing. No notes. California Maki - 6/10 - my least favorite thing here. It wasn't awful but it didn't compare to the other things we had. Drinks - I WISH I could remember the name of the drink I had. Hands down one of the best drinks I've ever had and was paired with sparkling sake. Bathe me in sparkling sake, put a bottle in my casket, I want it with me forever. I would come back for sure but would opt to sit at the bar. It would definitely be easier to speak to someone sitting next to you than across from you. The space, at least on the first floor, is tiny - just counter bar seats in front of the kitchen in a narrow rectangular room. We were excited to use this as an opportunity to learn more by watching and interacting with the cooks, but that did not occur. Without guidance, we ordered hamachi, salmon, and kampachi sashimi. The portions were generous - 5 slices of each. The salmon was buttery and the kampachi fantastic - rich and interesting flavor. The hamachi was not liked - it was streaked with some sinewy type substance that didn't help the otherwise unflavorful fish. The soba noodles came with a rich, smoky/strong fish-flavored broth that was interesting. Unfortunately, there is no gluten-free option for the broth. The yakatori skewers (only ordered because they were the only gluten-free skewers) were nothing interesting. The wine list is quite small (understandable considering the tiny size of the restaurant) and the chilled red and the Italian rose were both quite good. The pricing was reasonable in general and considering the quality of the meal and the overall experience.
