B and I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. It was dark and stormy. We wanted to eat somewhere close. B has been to Donegal's before. First time for me. It was wings Wednesday when we came here. We got 40 wings to share/ 4 different flavors: Honey Garlic, Whisky BBQ, Sweet Thai and Third degree. I didn't try the third degree. B likes spicy food and I can't handle spicy food myself. I liked the honey garlic the most. Sweet Thai was not bad. I am not a big fan of the Whisky BBQ. So the way they cooked the wings is that they would fry/bake them and then toss them in sauce. The wings were 45 cents each and a minimum of 10 wings per flavor. It was an awesome deal. The wings or maybe I should say the drumsticks were huge. In a basket of 10, there were 1 wing and 9 chicken. So in total we really had 4 wings and 36 drumsticks. After consuming 20 drumsticks, we were super full. Portion size is huge here. They also have daily drinks special for a pretty good price as well. B told me that I have to come back and try their Guinness Burger. They are actually known for their burgers. Also note that this place has plenty of free parking. Donegal's is a bit hidden. It is tucked away in a tiny street mall. Yes they also have outdoor patio seating.

Holiday pouting- turkey, stuffing, cranberry, gravy and the always awesome fries. Lovely Kronenburg Blanc too

We're enjoying this festive special. Always happy to be here whether it's lunch or a night of dancing to one of the awesome bands that Daniel books. Staff is fabulous. Everybody here CARES!

I've been to Donegals a few times this year and it's a great hang out. They have live bands, pool tables and the service is fantastic! First tried the Donegal burger which lived up to the hype of best burgers in Surrey. It was big, juicy, tasty and had a stamp of the pub on the bun - very kool presentation. Next time I had the beef dip special with crispy onions, horseradish aioli and Caesar salad with homemade dressing .... It was so damn good! I've also had the chocolate cake for dessert and it was decadent. Will be back to try more menu items !!

two burger (Guinness BBQ, Black & Blue) - try to avoid these two as long as you can!!!

I spent over $35 ordering these two burger (Guinness BBQ, Black & Blue). They are HORRIBLE! The meat tastes like SPAM meat, incredibly salty to an extent that causes physical pain on my tongue and causes stomach upset once ate. Salty to an extend that all you can taste is bitterness and you can even felt chemical taste (and it's not from mayo or the blue cheese), purely disgusting. The Black & Blue burger is worst of these two. So regret to order these two. If you are customers, please make note of what I say here. Horrible taste.

Hands down the best burger I've ever had. You must have the Guinness burger... Paloma was a delicious drink.

    Guiness barbeque burger

Came here at 130pm on a Saturday for lunch. Classic wood and leather furniture, brass taps behind the bar and Guiness on tap. Friendly and fast service. Burger with fresh cut fries was absolutely perfect. Medium cook, crisp bacon, fresh lettuce & tomato, Guinness barbeque sauce. Delicious!

Never been a regular here,or any other pub for that matter,...but this was my neigborhood pub back in the day. It used to be sorta sketchy, sorta uncool,...but now I gotta say it has transformed into a cozy multipurpose pub/venue for gen x, boomers, and even millennials and it's a gr8 place to chill, grab a home made meal, down a pint or two and even check k out ur fave local artist on weekends. U can can even jam at the 'Freakrock' jam on sundays.Lotsa big monitors to watch ur fave match or hockey game so this is what I call 'a very well thought out establishment. Amazingly friendly laid back, but attentive staff. I totally blew my diet last week when I was there to catch the stellar 'Whole Lotta Led' Led Zeppelin tribute band. The California burger was packed with tasty fixin's like avocado and pineapple and it was really juicy, perfectly topped and all in a decent price point.I especially relished ( relished,..c what I did there?relished,..burger,...nevermind)the obviously less than perfectly shaped preformed beef patty which told me that this beef patty was not frozen and hand made and it was so satisfying and massive that I simpy couldn't down the entire burger.Awesome Kennebic fries too! The waitress kept my coffee cup topped off all night.LOVE THAT. Such a nice wee venue that resonates a welcome familiar vibe all around.I will be back for more of Donegals delicious 'Pub Grub' and pleasant ambiance. Awesome entertainment here too! 'Whole Lotta Led' made duplicating an all encompassing multi generational band like Led Zeppelin seem easy, and believe me it is not. Whole Lotta Led touches down, connected with the crowd and absolutely burned down the house demonstrating flawless vocals, perfectly duplicated fluid rubbery basslines, iconic Jimmy Page guitars riffs and the best dynamic beats from the drummer, never missing a single triplet ( single,.. triplet,..get it,.. I digress) and propelling the sound in and out of the coolest subtle dynamics present in all arrangements of the worlds best band. I am now a big fan of Donegals pub,and definitely a fan of 'Whole Lotta Led.' U should go tonight! Appy Noshin' Brianm ur foodieatlarge.yelp.ca

My date really wanted to try the Jackie Gleason burger ($14.78) - two beef patties, cheddar cheese, sautéed mushroom, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion with an over-easy fried egg. Hence, we made our way here and I ordered the daily 2 piece fish and chips special ($10). We did not order any alcohol and our server was still smiling. She was the only one running around and was very on top of refilling drinks, taking orders, dropping off cutlery, condiments and food. Now my date was very impressed with his burger that he wanted to bring his friend here on another visit. The burger was nicely assembled and the homemade patty made the difference that you can taste. All the ingredients created one flavourful and filling meal. There was also more than enough fries. Although by the time we received our meal, our fries looked like it has been sitting there for awhile. I could taste that it was made with some decent quality potatoes. My fish was piping hot that I could see the steam when I cut into the fish. I should have ordered a one piece special as I did not realize how huge the portion was. Fish was good for the price. The fish itself was good, but I prefer the batter to be lighter. They kept the Irish pub feel and probably most of the original furniture. Some of the customers were questionable, but most seemed to be there for the food, drinks and live music (we left before the music started). I would stop by earlier in the evening for the food.

    Perogies! Yum! And hot!!

another fine seán establishment that julia will be frequenting (the other being open outcry!)…read more thank you a for always appeasing to whatever restaurant choice i pick. tho she does say that my choices are often good...i haven't slipped up yet so let's keep it that way. shoutout MUST be given to teagan (spelling?) for being the best server. helpful, fun and attentive but not in a creepy "im watching you" kinda way! there were def some drinks that caught our eye frm the menu. a relived her childhood fav - the shandy! i had a sip and it is very easy on the palate - that lemonade adds a refreshing citrus note to the drink. i, ofc, had the gunpowder & tonic. i had a double, no regrets! then a decided to try the dirty snakebite - ribena makes it dirty and for those who know, you know i ended up having the same as my last drink but only as a half pint - so thank you teagan for informing me of that! was the dirty snakebite as lethal as the menu says - no. it is VERY easy to keep drinking it tho - the ribena adds a subtle sweetness to the drink that makes it that much more palatable. before this drink, i had the peach & orange ketel one spritzer - the peach shines through the whole drink tho not in an artificial way. another easy drink to down - i guess we were on a roll for drinks! now for food! for appies, we had the preserved seafood and posh toast. conservas aka preserved seafood are basically the canned seafood that we see at the stores - obvsly the ones at irish heather are not your run of the mill ones. we had the mejillones en escabeche #130 - smoked mussels. the mussels were smoked to perfection with a nice of hint of char. the toast that came with the dish was on point - not too burnt compared to the posh toast. the mussels were also creamy in the mouth, not something you'd expect frm canned seafood. the posh toast was nice minus the super burnt toast. the spinach and artichoke spread was on point - it almost reminded me of an egg salad spread! then the star main - the stacked corned beef sandwich. i'm sure most know how much i rave abt the corned beef - it was the same quality, same taste and same flavour that i fell in love with. as a and i shared, we added extra corned beef to make a monster corned beef sandwich. that was the best decision along with added the chili cheese to our fries. often cheese sauces can be too salty, it was the opposite in this case! best food/carb coma ever and another go-to pub to add to julia's repertoire

And yes, I was sitting at the bar. Then the bartender disappeared for a long time while it looked like a few people were waiting for service. My Kilkenny seemed flat. Have you seen the food menu? Uninspired to say the least, and the kitchen was closing up at 9:00. These people do not care.

Tried their Dine Out menu (2025)…read more Butternut squash soup - tasty. Served with garlic bread. Beef Wellington - chunk of beef enclosed in puff pastry. Not exactly the most authentic thing. Hard to describe. There wasn't a layer of stuff between beef and pastry, and the beef ball wasn't as rare as expected. It was tasty though. Vegetables and mashed potatoes were also good. Cast iron cookie a la mode - baked chocolate chip cookie in a mini skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Who doesn't like either items. Good value. My friends and I left happy.

I came with two Yelpers and B to try their 2025 Dine Out Menu…read more I got the Butternut squash soup. It came with garlic bread. I really like the soup. For the entree, I got the Beef Wellington. It was not made the traditional way. I believe they very likely used prime rib instead of beef tenderloin. The beef is wrapped in a nice puff pastry. It was missing the mushroom layer. I didn't mine. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were both soaked in garlic butter which made it super delicious. For dessert, it came with a giant cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cookie was very sweet. Overall, the food was delicious for the price I paid. So no complain there. I saw lots of people coming in for the dine out menu. We got lucky. After 7 pm, the beef wellington was all sold out. I would definitely come here again

I was honestly shocked by how good the food was. I had initially assumed it might be a spot primarily for tourists, but a dear friend of mine who is a local mentioned that people in Victoria actually love coming here. She even noted that some friends from her children's school were there just the night before for an alumni weekend. The menu absolutely exceeded my expectations. I was blown away by the fish and chips; the fish was moist with a light batter and wasn't oily at all. The burgers, Irish stew, and shepherd's pie were all delectable as well. The real standout, however, was the sockeye salmon in a pesto preserved lemon broth--it was so addictive that I wish I could replicate the recipe at home. It is very easy to see why this spot has received so many accolades, and I would love to return the next time we are back in Victoria!
