Tried their Dine Out menu (2025). Butternut squash soup - tasty. Served with garlic bread. Beef Wellington - chunk of beef enclosed in puff pastry. Not exactly the most authentic thing. Hard to describe. There wasn't a layer of stuff between beef and pastry, and the beef ball wasn't as rare as expected. It was tasty though. Vegetables and mashed potatoes were also good. Cast iron cookie a la mode - baked chocolate chip cookie in a mini skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Who doesn't like either items. Good value. My friends and I left happy. read more

I came with two Yelpers and B to try their 2025 Dine Out Menu. I got the Butternut squash soup. It came with garlic bread. I really like the soup. For the entree, I got the Beef Wellington. It was not made the traditional way. I believe they very likely used prime rib instead of beef tenderloin. The beef is wrapped in a nice puff pastry. It was missing the mushroom layer. I didn't mine. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were both soaked in garlic butter which made it super delicious. For dessert, it came with a giant cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cookie was very sweet. Overall, the food was delicious for the price I paid. So no complain there. I saw lots of people coming in for the dine out menu. We got lucky. After 7 pm, the beef wellington was all sold out. I would definitely come here again read more

This is a famous New West watering hole for locals. Went here recently for first time with a group of guys for happy hour drinks and food on a Saturday. Pizzas were 1/2 price with purchase of a drink -- great deal. Prices for happy hour house lager were reasonable ($6), and they give you a full pint (20oz) -- a rarity these days it seems. Ordered a pizza -- it came out hot and loaded with cheese and toppings. Great tasting tomato sauce, too. If the pizza was just a bit larger, it would've been perfect. The servers were all friendly and efficient, and the pub was packed the entire time we were there from 4-9pm. Loved the old-school decor and ambiance, lots of stained dark wood and nautical themes. It just felt like a cozy, well-lived and worn local neighborhood pub, as one should be. Would I return again? Yes, for the happy hour and pizza deals if passing through New West on a Saturday. Seemed like a well-run spot, and hope it continues to succeed. read more

Just revisited last week after they had been closed since COVID. The service was super slow! Waiting 15 minutes for your beer in a pub and 45 minutes for your food is not good, especially since it was a Monday and not even close to busy. Food: Don't be fooled, the pizza is not the same despite the same names, descriptions and prices on the menu. They are much smaller and just not the same quality. The wings were not hot when they arrived at our table and had clearly been sitting out in the kitchen getting cold. The calamari looked and tasted like it was fresh out of a frozen food isle box and had an unappetizing fishy smell. We barely touched it yet the server did not inquire as to why. And lastly, no happy hour. Like what??? Who do you think you are RR? This long term customer will not be returning. read more

Terrible on all three counts. Used to be one of the best pubs in New Westminster. The pub was sold and everything went down the toilet.. I have worked over 30 years in hospitality industry mainly in bars , restaurants. This place is a gong show now . I used to go there all the time and recommended the pub to everyone. Daughter and I had some business in New Westminster yesterday morning. I offered to treat to lunch - we decided a pub lunch would be fun. She recommended the River's Reach Pub - it was handy, our timing was 'right', it was 11:20 am, open, and yea, there was a parking space along the side! I really liked the "look and feel" of the place -- nice spacing of table arrangements, with almost separated areas, and different types of seating (standard tables and chairs, high tables and stools, etc.). We chose a (standard-type) table, at the front side of the restaurant, near the back. I ordered a pint of Rickard's Red draft (they're Tuesday 'special'), and clubhouse sandwich (on toasted white bread, came w/turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato), and fries -- daughter (the driver) opted for water, and a large baked lasagna (came w/mozzarella cheese, and meat sauce, and at her request, some pineapple), and garlic toast. We did good -- friendly, accommodating service, with some rather fine-looking food presentations, and tasty, well-made preparations. She enjoyed her lasagna (leaving a little to go back home for later), and I sure enjoyed my sandwich (leaving nothing to go back to the kitchen, or away with me). This was a first time visit to River's Reach for me, and based on the dining experience, we made a fine decision, and I was most happy with daughter's choice of venue. read more

River's Reach is an incredibly nice and comfortable spot in New West for food and/or drink. Run by a piece of Canadian restaurant lineage, the place is handled well from kitchen to table. There's a decent amount of space and types of seating to suit your comfort levels. It's a great place to watch almost any sports game you could want to watch with TV's placed all over. The menu and it's food selection are beautiful and well managed. The price point can be a couple dollars too heavy especially for the area, but that gets offset by an amazing appetizer happy hour selection where every choice is a good one. The staff is friendly and cordial (including management), the only issue I have is staff missing from the front area when trying to sit down or when trying to leave at certain times. Which combined with cost took that last star away. But it's worlds beyond most other places in New West and always worth a thought when grabbing a bite or getting a drink. read more

There's a large ladies room with frosted glass doors that go floor to ceiling for both stalls. The decor is modern and there's a spacious counter with 2 sinks and a very large mirror. Everything is automatic and you have the option of paper towels or hand dryer. It's all well stocked. The place is kept extra clean with a floor drain. The only downside is that I had to hang my bag on the door handle in the stall because there no hook. 4 out of 5 flushes. read more

I've always enjoyed eating at this restaurant every fall for high school reunions. I went yesterday with a friend, and both of us were so impressed with the food, but especially the service. Alexis was likely the best service person we've ever had. She was attentive, got everything right, and kind hearted. We will go back there just for her. I had the chicken strips and french fries, which is what I usually have. Delicious. My friend had a chicken wrap or something like that and she loved it. We were in town for a bodybuilding competition and wanted somewhere with amazing food to enjoy after a day of competing. This pub had some of the best reviews for their food.... service reviews were a bit lower, and I can see why. Our server was so slow. There was maybe 4 tables in the restaurant, and nothing big. The server was missing for a good 20 minutes, drinks took forever to come out, and someone else delivered our food and was amazing with getting the extras we needed. Needless to say the food was amazing, but the service was defiantly on the low side.... just need to up that and this place would be the go too spot for sure! read more

I used to come here quite a bit when I had lived in New West, but now the visits are few and far between. First off I love the way the place looks, mostly because it reminds me of my grandpas house mainly his office. Floor to ceiling bookshelves, ceramic steins, ships in bottles, books everywhere and a boob tube from the 50's. We grabbed ourselves a seat right next to the fire place which was nice, and if it was for the raging bit*# that was sitting behind us it would have been even better. Our service was really good, polite and fast. Now the food wasn't as good as I remembered it, but we came during half price appy time (which is 3-6pm everyday). So a pound of wings, bacon wrapped scallops and artichoke and spinach dip accompanied by an ice tea and pint of Heineken for twenty two dollars.... I found it pretty bloody hard to complain. read more

I couldn't believe it, and was quite pleasantly surprised to see this neighborhood pub full. The crowd is mixed with old and young and the food and beer is reasonably priced. The servers are friendly and the bar has that old bar feel to it. I'd say it's a traditional bar. Kinda like on the TV show cheers. They have daily drink specials and it's actually a pretty large bar. I'd go back. Pretty good. For a "pub" the food is very good. The service was very good. I would call the ambiance upscale pub style but the food is something you would expect at a restaurant. Yes a pub is a restaurant but a pub has "pub food" which can be hit and miss at the best of times! I would definitely recommend this "pub" the tuna tower is great it actually has real avocado for the base. It looks like the chef may cook a lot of his food on site!! Worth a try! read more

Came here last weekend with a friend in NW. We were looking for a small patio and decided to try this place. I'm really glad we did! Amazing beer list which had us starting off with local Steel & Oak Red Pilsner. Love that they're suporting an in-town brewery. We started with thecMediterranean appy dips and wow. HUGE. There was just the two of us and it could easily be shared with 4 ppl. Grilled Pita bread with 4 dips: red pepper and feta, olive tapenade, tzatziki and hummus. All were delicious but the hummus was too cold and a little bland to be honest. My friend had a pizza- and while a little pricier than other pubs she said was outstanding. Nice thick crust and lotsa cheese. I opted for a veggie wrap and fries; solid choice. Later a friend joined us and got the roasted brussel sprouts. Yum!! Perfection and gorgeously browned. Service was attentive and fun. Other patrons on patio were so friendly and it was like a little party atmosphere. I'd go back for sure. Great local if you live in the hood. read more

I visited the pub some years ago when I lived in New West and I really liked it, has an excellent ambiance. Now live in Coquitlam and I have been using DoorDash frequently. I noticed that the River's Reach menu looked pretty good as did the prices. Finally I ordered the fish and chips for delivery. The price was $3-$4 less than similar places for a start, but the quality and amount of food was superb. During this little Corona-crisis while we old-timers are mostly staying inside, I think I'm just going to work my way through the menu, haha. read more

Wow, now I'd definitely come back here again for their M-F happy hour specials! In New West, I'm usually hard-pressed to find a good spot for cheap happy hour with good prices and variety. So from 3-6, M-F, all their appies are half price, excluding platters, and wings, already a deal at $6/lb. Within our group, we ordered a number of things, and after discount, the prices ranged from $4-6. The things I'd order again are: Yam fries (really crispy!), pound of wings, artichoke and spin dip, and kalamari. The lettuce wraps aren't bad, its definitely not proper Chinese lettuce wraps, but its better than other lettuce wraps I've had at chain restaurants and such. I was pretty disappointed with the tzatziki and hummus. Bland bland bland, lacking flavor.. The Chili Chicken actually wasn't bad, but isn't a dish I'd usually order. Anyhow, with drinks, and several plates of appies, the final bill ended up being around $13/person. Pretty good for post-work drinks and nibbles! read more

Rivers reach menu is basically cactus club quality. It's like the best restaurant I've been to in new west but its in a pub setting. I almost always get the mushroom caps and the steak. The mushroom caps have so much cheese that I have half of it left over and then I eat it mixed with my potatoes. I can't not order them. The steak is always done really well and a great cut. Other things I've had are the lamb shank, jambalaya (super spicy!), and the nachos. All good! I recommend the quay lime pie martini for half of your daily calories. You won't regret it. read more

My favourite bar in the whole area! Great service from bartenders, waitresses are always smiling and they have the best value for the menu. All good!!! $8 for a non menu alcoholic drink is a bit high. Too much ice in the glass as well. The only beef I had was them playing the hockey game through the house speakers. Well I guess all good things... This place used to be the best pub in new west, but over the years things have gone down hill. Their food is still good and the menu has been refreshed. However the service has taken a turn for the worse. While there are still good waitresses here, most of them are cold and indifferent. I've been left waiting for extended periods for menus and bills. Some don't bother checking up on your during your meal. My friends and I have been coming here less and less often because of this. Our party of four arrived at another pub to be turned away as it was packed due to UFC being broadcasted so we made our way here. We found a empty tall table and ordered drinks then decided to see if the heated back enclosed patio would be a quieter option. Indeed it was. We relocated to a low fat round table in the very back corner. Alas peace and quiet abound we settled in. Sadly sitting in the corner meant not seeing the waitress again once our food order was taken. The waitress apologized that they seem to cut staff when they sudden get busy. The response from the men in the group was to order two rounds of drinks :) The JD BBQ sauce beef burger was fantastic and the side of fries huge. An order of calamari and the Swiss burger joined our table. I tried a belini that didn't particularly seem cranberry-like but it did have two cranberries in it and was almost fishbowl in size. The drink I had after that was a lime kissed Corona. Yummy. A pleasing visit but not necessarily a first choice if one is terribly hungry or in a hurry. :) read more

Came in on a saturday night, it was busy and bubbling. Odd mixed bag of rowdy 20 somethings and a lot of 50+ people. Service was good! We were sat on the gauntlet going towards the washrooms and my chair and I were bumped and shoved the entire night. Hubs and I shared the chorizo mozza appy which was an odd blend of the two rolled into a ball with a skewer through it, I think if I came again I'd skip food unless it was wings or chips. We moved to New Westminster 6 months ago and were hesitant to try it because of the outside appearance. The inside is very comfortable feeling and not at all shady like we first thought! We went on a busy Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised. They serve a good list of craft beers by the pitcher for a great price! Their pizza was great and it is half price on Saturdays. I've been to the River's Reach pub a couple of times and it's very nice. However, the beer/wine and liquor store seems to have become my go-to for those "damn the liquor store is closed and I need wine" times. The clerks here are friendly and cool, and also knowledgeable about the stores ample selection of wines. They carry reds and whites from some of BC's best wineries (including personal fave Tinhorn Creek), as well as good stuff from California, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. "Cat's Pee on Gooseberry Bush" from NZ goes well with a Flight of the Conchords marathon, although it's a bit over my usual $20 limit. There are some expensive bottles here, but there's lots of selection in the $10 to $20 range. I haven't tried them, but the single-serve Jello shots sold by the cash register look truly dangerous. read more

First time visit as hubbys co-workers recommended it. Comparing to other pubs, nothing that I would say is outstanding. We sat down and were asked to move, the table was not reserved, but the waitress said was expecting a big crowd. We moved but no large crowd appeared in the time we were there, about 1 hour plus. My white sangria was ordinary, canned pineapple not fresh. The sliders appeared to be of the premade frozen variety. Nothing outstanding, no pickles even. The calarmarie was slightly over fried, greasy..we've definitely had better. The team fries were good and came out 10 minutes before the other food although we ordered them last as an add on. I must say the decor, windows and seating was comfortable. The washrooms are on the other side of a large pub. Would be nice to have a short cut! The server was friendly and attentive. It was 1/2 price pizza night, but looking at other customer's pizza, I am glad we didn't order it. The music was very millennial and seeing most of the patrons seemed 40 plus, it didn't appeal to us and probably not many. We made the trek from Delta as we heard raves. So either these people don't know good pub grub and have lower standards or I don't know what to say except once was enough. read more
