Free parking, good food for the value, when they have it - fantastic music, updated for years ago, comfortable atmosphere with friendly neighborhood folks. This location is a hidden gem. Has 4 big booths to accomodate 8 people, a seperate area if you have a birthday or event and has really good drink specials. If you want iconic LOCAL this is it. Not a big chain, give back to locals. Service was meh. They were hardly around or took a long time to come over to give the menu or take the order. There is a 10% off food order when you checked in on Yelp, but the servers will forget to include that in the bill. Double check the bill before paying if you also remember about it. Food is actually pretty good here. Drinks too. The garlic fries is to die for. I love the freshly fried fries with finely minced garlic and herbs. Crispy and delicious! The burger was so-so, lots of toppings but the patty was dry. Wings were ok too. Brussels sprouts were a bit on the sweet side due to the sauce. The truffle bacon mac and cheese was nice. Ok, before I say anything about this place. I need to seriously warn you about driving here. It's pretty easy to miss the entrance if your driving here in the dark. Another issue, would be the gigantic pot hole in the parking lot. It would not be a fun time if your car drove close to it. Now putting that all aside. This is a great place to grab pub food and to catch a game. When you initially arrive, don't be surprised if noone greets you, your more then welcome to find your own seat. The servers here are pretty attentive and will check on you every few minutes. A definite plus to any busy pub. Initially, I was supposed to meet my friend here before we caught a movie out in New Westminister. To kill time, we watched the Canucks game. I must say, I am pretty impressed with the set up. Seems like everywhere you turn, there is a TV for you to stare at. The food here is also some of the best pub food I have even eaten. I ordered the smokehouse burger, it was nice and freshly made. The burger patty was kinda small, but the fresh veggies, crunchy bacon, and nicely toasted bun; made up for it. What was even better were the beer battered fries (nice and crispy on the outside, soft inside) which were seasoned nicely. I also ordered waffle fries having been throughly impressed with the beer battered fries, granted they weren't as good as the beer battered ones. However, it was a good amount of fries considering it only cost $5. The aioli wasn't something I was impressed on either, as it mostly tasted like mayonnaise. I say, stick with the beer battered ones, you won't be disappointed. Overall, if I'm ever in the area again. I'd definitely pay this place a visit. read more

I strongly disagree with the ratings for this place. Menu says happy hour EVERYDAY. We tried to order off happy hour menu and were told sorry no happy hour today. WTH EH? Last time I checked poutine has cheese/ cheese curds. The poutine had was a bunch of fries and tasteless gravy. WTH EH? Asked if they had unsweetened tea. Response: yes. I didn't know we were gonna be there during happy hour, and once I looked through the options, I knew I was gonna get 2 food items because they were only $5 each. I repeat, $5 EACH! I got a Stanley Park 1897 Amber Ale for $5 as well and you can never go wrong with that. Food-wise, I got the mini Mac and cheese (no bacon) and the herb/garlic fries; again, for $5 each! I was pretty full having finished the m/c and having shared a few of my fries. I really liked both and they were not stingy with the amount of garlic either. Went on a Monday and their special was "roadhouse burger". It was my first time trying a burger from there. I wouldn't get it again because the bun wasn't warm and the beef patty was a bit too dry. Walked in to have lunch today , approximately 20 of us out to have lunch . Walked in 6 people in the bar 2 where paying and leaving . Tried to walk upstairs so we we could all sit together waitress says " can't sit there it's closed . I said there's about 20 of us . Can we sit together . Something has changed. We bought two orders of Wings and there was barley anything in the box and they charged about $23 for the two orders. Not worth the value!! This pub has drastically changed it's reputation from years ago. You may assume because of the area that it's an old dirty dive bar but they gave the interior a serious face lift. If you haven't been to The Terminal Pub in a long time you'll be pleasantly surprised when you walk inside. The menu has been completely overhauled, it has some really great options for a pub. On this visit I ordered Baba's Perogies with Chorizo, a 100 year old Ukrainian recipe, served up with caramelized onions, bacon and sour cream. I love perogies and this batch was spectacular, on par with my own homemade perogies, so hats off to the cooks. When I come back I'll definitely order the perogies again. For my main course I ordered the Roadhouse burger that was served piping hot with a homemade beef patty, bacon, aged cheddar, crispy onion strings, lettuce, tomato, pickle, garlic aioli and mustard, the meat was cooked to perfection and the toppings were ultra fresh. The kitchen forgot the crispy onion strings on my burger but it was still super delicious. At the end of the day I was amazed when I walked into The Terminal Pub, I heard rumours of how this Pub used to be 10-20 years ago but it has completely reinvented itself, with a great menu, top notch staff and beautifully remodelled interior. Went for lunch after hearing it just reopened after 2 years and has new ownership. Nice looking pub with great location and a very nice bartender/waiter. J The food unfortunately was poor. I had burger and a salad. Burger was ok but salad was old with some rotten lettuce and a old dill pickle slice. Two in our group ordered quesadillas. 12 inch tortillas with 8 inches of filling, they were very unattractive plus $4 for a ounce of guacamole. They will have to step up the fresh ingredients and presentation to get repeat customers. Still had fun though. Good luck! read more

Dropped by here on a Saturday night with a party of 12+. We had called the month prior to make reservations, but they somehow lost the details. Thankfully, they were able to move some tables about and make things work for us. Our group ordered a variety of drinks and food, and the overall consensus was that the food was okay, but we weren't sure if it was because they were extra slammed that night, as the wait times were upwards of an hour before the food arrived. Customer service was great, when we were able to wave somebody over to help us. We can understand that it's hard to wait on such a large party, but wish the restaurant staffed properly so they weren't so slammed on the weekend. We had a few friends show up later in the night and order food, and they ended up cancelling their order after an hour and a half's wait because everyone had pretty much left, and even then, the kitchen hadn't gotten to it yet. Overall, we were able to be fed and had a decent time hanging out with friends, but if I had the option of going elsewhere, I'd probably pick elsewhere first - unless I was coming here during a non-peak period during the weekday. read more

I must say I was excited to come here a couple of weeks ago with a few of my girlfriends as I knew that the food was good. I have the Mediterranean Salad and added grilled chicken breast. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! That's where the positive ended on this experience. The service was ultra slow and it wasn't even that busy. It was soooo slow that my friend advised me to order two drinks at a time so that I wouldn't have to keep craning my neck to see when the waitress will come. Went here for the Wednesday night wing special and wasn't all that impressed. A pound of wings was $6 and they were tiny. Probably the smallest wings I've ever had. The sauce was good though and their in-house made ranch dipping sauce was delicious. Our server (she had long hair) was attentive and friendly. After we received our bill, it took quite some time for her to come back around for us to pay. She did apologize for this though, more than once. While we were waiting to pay, I couldn't help but overhear another server say something that didn't sit right with me. She told a table near us that - she apologizes - but their bartender "sucks." She explained that he's new, doesn't know what he's doing, and mixed drinks won't turn out well. I thought this was incredibly rude. I'm going to assume that it was the poor guy's first day, which would explain a lot: when asked where the women's washroom was (it's on the other side of the restaurant from the men's), he didn't know, our beer had way too much foam in it (which we almost complained about), and he kept looking at his phone (which I now realize was to look up drink recipes). We've all been the new person at some point. Being the new person isn't easy. You don't know your coworkers, you're in a new setting, and you probably still need more training. Granted, I don't know the situation; Maybe he's been there for weeks and hasn't caught on yet. Regardless, you don't vent to your customers about it. I want to give Terminal Pub 2 stars because of that incident but because our server was great and didn't partake in any gossip, I'll leave it at 3 stars. read more

For most of its history (opened in 1941), the Terminal has been known as a blue-collar bar, the kind of place where people who work on the docks, the boats and the railways would feel at home. It received a makeover a few years ago to update the look and feel and welcome the new generation of New Westers, but it's still pretty relaxed and unpretentious. The location is not scenic, unless you've got a thing for industrial landscapes (and yes, dodgy sex shop proximity). But inside is a nice hidey-hole with craft beers (including ultra-local Steel & Oak rotating tap) and fireplaces and historical photos of the area. While the Terminal was redeeming their negative past before covid, the post-covid pub leaves a lot to be desired and is now reminiscent of decades past. Goodbye upbeat atmosphere, hello old legion feel. Goodbye fresh food, hello frozen fishsticks and deep fried everything else. Bad 70s and 80s rock ballads slow service and old fashioned food are the norm with the two old guys from the Muppets balcony often the only folks in there now. The fireplace makes the place look even better, but the comfy chairs and sleek tables just add to the amazing decor of this place. Now, how's the food and drinks here? I went here on Wednesday for Wings Special. A small disappointment, their wings are like $11 as normal price and theyr'e soooo tiny. BUUUUT it's pretty worth it for $6 on Wednesdays, so I won't complain. The flavor is great, and their "Terminal Sauce" was nommy (their own spin on Thai flavor). Now, their poutine is to DIE for. They use Truffle Oil and it adds this really nutty, earthy flavor to the poutine that I am now addicted to. This is a great little pub off the beaten track from the downtown strip in New West. Ever since the renovation, this places looks great. It has a fantastic modern feel, while maintaining a great warm and intimate vibe. The HUGE fireplace in the middle of the bar is great to cosy up to on a crappy rainy day. The food here is pretty good. There doesn't seem to be much on the menu that is freeze dried, pre-packaged, or processed. Their flatbread pizza are where the kitchen excels. The dough is made fresh every day, and they've been known to run out when they put them on special. If you can get past the horrible (and kind of shady) location, you'll find a real gem of a pub - the best one in New Westminster by far. I like the atmosphere - warm and cozy, yet lively enough to watch the game with friends. The staff are very friendly, and food is surprisingly fantastic (their 2-for-1 appetizer specials can't be beat). The menu is pretty big, and accommodates vegetarians as well (would recommend the green bean appy!) I come here often with friends, and don't see any reason why it won't continue to be a regular spot for me. I heard the Mac and cheese is good. I didn't feel like waiting another 15 minutes to order it though. So I left. Never going back. Terrible service. Good service clearly for the friends of the staff so If you know the bartender, this is a great place to go. They'll sit and chat with you at the expense of everyone else. But I don't know; maybe I could have sat in a more conspicuous location. Sitting right near dead centre of the main bar maybe is one of those cases of being too obvious so no one notices. Kind of that bystander effect where everyone thinks someone else is doing something, so no one does anything. But they're not so bad that calling out to them as they walk by didn't catch their attention. And it wasn't so bad since by the time I finished my beer, I didn't feel like ordering food anymore anyhow. They did save me that trouble. I didn't order food and then wish I hadn't. This was my go to spot, but for the last, maybe 2 years, they've changed their menu, for the worse. I've tried desperately to like this place, but honestly, the poutine waffle fries are horrible, and the wings are never sauced/seasoned well anymore. If the River's Reach is packed and you can't get in for a game? Check out The Terminal. I would argue it's second best out of the pubs in New West (sorry, but River's Reach will always be #1 in my books). We've been going since it just was renovated, and more often than not we have good service and good food. The food prices are a little high for some of the items, but overall, everything is tasty. Stick to the - okay, my - rule of not ordering ethnic food (butter chicken, pad thai, etc.) in a pub and you should be good. The bartenders are awesome, and management is generally on top of things too. You have a younger crowd (on average) than other bars in the city too. There are definitely a few characters that still saunter over, but it feels more on-trend and less dive-bar, which is a nice departure from standard New West fare. read more
