Donna Beth Alterations was recommended to me by a friend who was also having her dress altered at the same time. The shop was beautiful and the reviews were great so I said, why not? When I initially brought in my dress, it was a little snug in the lower hip area. I had originally planned to alter the hem, reattach lace to the hem and a do a bustle, but thought I'd ask about taking out the hips a little to get rid of the bunching/gathering that was occurring in that area. Both the seamstress who was taking my measurements as well as Donna guaranteed me that by taking out the hips, the dress would fall and the bunching would be gone. So I was sold! Was charged $350 for all of these alterations, which seemed reasonable. I was beyond excited to go back and try on the dress for my second fitting. To my dismay, instead of taking out the lower hips, the seamstress took out the upper hip area, creating A LOT of extra fabric in the stomach area. I'm not exaggerating, I could have been 6+ months pregnant and fit comfortably in this dress. When I pointed this out, I was told that I would want the extra fabric in order to sit comfortably in it. I told the seamstress, as well as Donna, that I wanted the stomach fabric gone and the lower hips taken out, to which they agreed. When I went back for my 3rd (and final fitting), NOTHING had been changed, it was if they hadn't touched my dress between those two fittings. This final meeting was with Donna. When I expressed my concerns, she kept saying "I've been a professional seamstress for a long time, trust me, you'll want the extra fabric". I also didn't understand why, in the final fitting, the lower hips still had not been taken out. This was one of my original requests, that I paid for. She promised me that when I came to pick up my dress, the day before my wedding, the dress would be perfect. I ended up going back a few days later because I was panicked. After talking to Donna further, she continued to tell me that I would want the extra fabric in the stomach area, which caused me to lose faith in her ability to listen to my concerns and ultimate decision (I did pay for this service after all). So guess what happened when I went in the morning before my wedding? You got it, the stomach fabric still had not been altered! She had finally altered the lower hips, so it fit me properly, but the mid section of the dress was hideous, both standing and sitting. This beautiful, form fitting gown, now looked like a baggy sack. I broke down, couldn't stop crying. She agreed to do some more alterations to fix the stomach and asked me to come back by 1 pm. When I came back, the stomach area had been "fixed", but at the expense of the hips...they had taken the hip area back in, causing the dress to be more snug than when I first came in. So all of that stress for nothing. They messed up by taking the wrong part of the dress out. Never admitted to their error, instead, spent the remainder of my fittings avoiding fixing their error until the final hour (which was a shotty attempt at best). And to top it off, they never did do what they said that would with the lower hips, so my dress bunched and gathered in all of my pictures, a painful reminder of my frustrating and heart breaking experience at Donna Beth Creations. read more

I was recommended Donna Beth Creations by Emma and Grace Bridal. From my first appointment to my last, they were so wonderful and kind. Every fitting went smoothly and faster than I expected. Even when the dry cleaners they used accidentally knocked off an important button, the staff at Donna Beth were extremely responsive in fixing the issue. Donna Beth, also known as Donna Savoy, owner of the wedding dress alterations company called 'Donna Beth Creations' has rendered my wedding gown unwearable for my upcoming wedding due to her poor alterations. I asked that my dress be taken in at the waist and hemmed. It required minimal alterations. Donna and her team made the dress so tight that I could not wear it for longer than 30 minutes without beginning to feel physically ill and short of breath. I went to Donna prior to my alterations for 2 separate measurement appointments yet my dress was still altered to be too tight. I had to email and called Donna before she finally agreed that I could come in for an additional appointment to address the dress tightness. Upon coming in for an additional appointment I was strongly discouraged from further alterations to let the dress back out and was told that the dress was supposed to fit that tight. Additionally I was told by Donna's team that I should leave the dress unclasped at the top of the zipper since it was too tight. Once I received my dress after final alterations I noticed many quality issues. Mainly, the dress was still extremely tight (pictured), the entire back of the dress had been ruined due to stitches added at the back of the train which caused huge dimples in the fabric (pictured), all hems were uneven and falling apart (pictured), and the sleeves had been removed and re-sewn onto the dress unevenly (pictured). I paid $1,699.00 for my dress and $850.00 for alterations from Donna Beth. Now, I cannot wear this dress for my wedding in 2 weeks (Sept 18th) because it does not fit. Upon exploring the experiences of other brides, I have found that many others have experienced the same as me when working with Donna (reviews pictured). Additionally, I called the shop from which I purchased the dress, who had originally referred me to work with Donna, and they advised that they cut partnership with Donna due to her "unethical business" and that so many brides had complained of ruined dresses. read more

I originally found this place because of my wedding boutique, Luv Bridal, who recommended Donna Beth to me. I purchased my dress a year before my wedding and made an appointment with Donna Beth 8 months before my wedding date. The first consultation went great, however I met Donna Beth's assistance and not her. Going to my "first" appointment I met Donna Beth who gave me about 5 minutes of her time. We discussed the bottom portion of my dress first which needed to be cinched in, hemmed, and create the bustle. During that second appointment nothing was done besides being cinched in. I didn't think much of it and thought it would get resolved by my second appointment. By the second appointment (my mother came with) lace was hanging off, thread everywhere, bustle still not put on, and they removed my cups and put them in the wrong placement. The cups being in the wrong placement gave me one Madonna boob while the other side seemed to be ok. I was assured this would get fixed. We brought this up to Donna Beths assistant since again, Donna Beth barely gave us her time. I was then told by the end of my appointment to come in to try on my dress which was supposed to be scheduled for "pick up" but got scheduled as a fitting to make sure everything got fixed. Day of, they never placed me on the schedule and told me I was going to have to come in and possibly wait an hour because they were "triple booked." Once I finally was in a room, the only thing fixed was my bustle. I was very disappointed as I still had the Madonna boob situation and lace coming off everywhere. When I addressed these AGAIN, I was told that this is the dress's problem. When I ordered my dress I didn't have these issues. Donna Beth never apologized for not scheduling me in and I had to be sewn into the dress so they could get me out the door. I paid $800 for alterations and once I paid, they didn't care about my concerns or my dress. I never received an apology from them and instead they made it sound like "miscommunication." I did a single bustle under my bottom and it was made the cheapest way possible, one tiny loop string. Donna Beth TOLD ME AT MY APPOINTMENT "bring a safety pin because it won't hold." How can I pay $800 and have to bring material to my wedding because you don't know how to do your job properly. The bustle ended up ripping the moment I went to dance by the slightest tug on the dress. Overall, I would not recommend this based on price, professionalism and quality. While I still felt beautiful on my wedding day, I shouldn't have to argue constantly with people I'm paying to make my dress fit properly and then get sewn into it day of. Donna Beth was recommended to me by a bridal salon in Denver. I saw glowing reviews online and made an appointment without hesitation. This is a long review, so if you only want the highlights, here they are: - Paid $50 to add straps. - They seemingly forgot and left it to the last minute. - Straps didn't look great and were so loose I had to fix them myself. - Other alterations (hem, taking in bodice) ($100) weren't amazing either. - One plus side: Donna and everyone here was very nice. Mansion is gorgeous. I had a strapless bridesmaids dress to be altered. The alterations were just under $100, but then I asked if it would be possible to use fabric from the hem of the dress to add straps. I was told that they would have to find fabric because there wouldn't be enough left over from the hem. I paid $50 additional dollars to add straps. My first fitting was a month later. I was told that there would be straps by this appointment, but when I showed up, it seemed they had just forgotten. I tried on the dress and it fit okay, they gave me no time to actually walk around or look in the mirror, unzipped me, and told me straps would be on when I came for my final fitting. A week before my sister's out of town wedding, I returned for my final fitting. They had made two options for straps (two different colors since neither exactly matched) and hadn't attached them yet. I was surprised that the fabric of the straps they'd chosen was satin, when the rest of the dress was covered in a tulle-like material, and I had originally asked for fabric from the hem of the dress, but there was no time left to discuss this since they'd left it to the week I was leaving for the wedding. I chose the darker of the straps and they sewed them on before I left. They did not to tell me I'd have to wait around for half an hour after my appointment, I had another appointment that day I was almost late for. They handed me my dress and I was out the door, without a chance to try it on with the straps. Well, the straps didn't fit AT ALL. They were at least an inch too long and simply fell off my shoulders every time I relaxed. I had to sew them shorter myself the day before the wedding. They also messed up the ruching on one side of the chest so that it looked all slack and weird, and my hem was so long that I had to be careful standing up all night. I truly can't thank Donna and her staff for making this experience an easy and stress free one! Of course, the dress is such a huge part of a wedding and you don't want to have to worry about anything more on or before your wedding day. I purchased a sample dress from blue bridal boutique in Denver, (thank you for the referral) which was too big and very dirty from being tried on multiple times in store. Donna came into the dressing room and made me feel at ease right away. She knew exactly what to do to make this dress mine. She assured me this would fit me perfectly and not to worry. The staff explained every detail of how the dress was going to be altered which, yes, it was a bit scary to know they would be taking my dress completely apart. But trust me! These girls are amazing! I attended my last fitting and the dress had to be taken in one last time. Mind you this was 10 days prior to the wedding day. But again, not to worry. Everyone stayed calm and told me the dress would be perfect. They squeezed me in for a final last fitting and get anything else altered. I felt so taken care of at Donna Beth Creations. I cannot thank Donna enough for making my dress beautiful for my wedding and in an incredibly short period of time! I ordered my wedding dress from Little White Dress in March for my September 11th wedding. When my dress arrived, it was too small to zip yet giant in the bust area. I was worried. I paid money to have extra fabric sent from Reem Acra. They told me not to worry and that they would make sure it fit perfectly for my wedding. A couple of weeks later, I went for my first fitting. The alterations department scheduled my 2nd fitting for September 6th. I expressed concern about this being so close to my wedding but they assured me it would be fine. I arrived for my 2nd fitting to find the dress was now giant everywhere. Once again, I was told not to worry and was scheduled to return the following day. I returned on the 7th. It was getting better but there was still work to do. The bust was awkward, I was told this would be fixed. The beautiful lace back was way too high on my neck and gaping. The dress had not been hemmed and was way too long. I was charged another $170 for the hem (she had overlooked this in my initial quote) and the back in addition to the original $390 I had paid for alterations. I was told to return on the 9th to pick up my dress. On the 9th, I arrived at 3:00pm and tried on my dress. The back was still gaping, the bust still awkward. There were little threads hanging all over the lace. I asked the woman if there was anything that could be done to fix these issues and was told, "no". She said she had done everything she could do and with only one full day before my wedding, there was no time left to do anything. I left stating, "I am simply not pleased". I was on the verge of tears. It was very hard for me to hold them back until I got home. I didn't know what to do. I hated my dress and had spent waaaaay too much money to hate my dress. My sister, who was in from out of town came over and had me try it on. She noticed another issue on the back that I hadn't been able to see (there was a giant gap in the ribbon on the zipper at the waist). She agreed that it fit horribly. I called two local stores that do alterations with no luck. Too short of notice. I understood but kept trying. I had found Donna Beth Creations on Yelp! I saw that they were closed for the day and sent an email telling them my dilemma and asking if there was anything they could do. Meanwhile, my sister called LWD and told them they had an unhappy bride. She couldn't stand to see her sister in tears. She thought they should at least be able to sew a little flat bow on one side of the zipper with a clear snap to cover up the gap in the ribbon. We were even planning to pin and try to stitch the gaping back ourselves if need be. She also thought maybe they would give us a veil to slightly cover up the back due to the dress fitting improperly. They were very nice to her on the phone (they were always very nice). They begged us to return and said they would do everything they could to make it right. We returned to LWD at 5:00pm. We met with the sales person who I had worked with. She asked what I felt was wrong and I explained that I had been told repeatedly that the dress would fit and also thanked repeatedly for my patience and understanding. I simply wanted my dress to fit. The manager joined us. The two once again proceeded to tell us there was nothing they could do and all seamstresses had left for the day. The manager said she had worn a Reem Acra gown for her wedding and that's how their backs fit. Bogus. My sister had them find a veil she liked and asked them if we could have that veil. They said of course, then charged my sister full price for the veil. When my sister asked for a discount on the veil, they gave her a measly 10% off. As my sister said, they very politely told us to F off. While waiting to pay for the veil, I checked my email and was elated to see that Donna had emailed me back and could see me at 7:30 the next morning and that they would make sure my dress was perfect for my walk down the aisle. I arrived on the morning of the 10th and put my dress on. She pinned it, said they could fix the bust, the back and the gap in the ribbon. She called in her employee who would be doing the work and showed him everything that would be altered. She scheduled me to return at 2:30pm. I was so happy! I told her I wanted to hug her and she replied, "You can hug me". She even apologized for having to charge me for the work. Around noon, I received a phone call from Donna Beth Creations letting me know that my dress was finished. I arrived at 1:30 and was blown away by their work. Moral of the story: obviously, I do not recommend LWD. But beyond that, just because you buy your dress somewhere else, please hire Donna for your alterations. Thank the lord for this amazing lady !! I ordered my wedding dress from out of the country, When I got it it was so small I couldn't even pull it up past my hips. It was about 2 sized to small. Thank goodness she could take my dress out! Also she added better detailing around the back and front that I really wanted, and she gave me the best Bow to fit the back of my dress that followed all the way down my train. I went to Donna Beth Creations on the recommendation of Anna Be where I bought the dress. The "Before Tailoring" photo is the dress I bought before taking it in, it had beautiful sleeves that I fell in love with. Per my conversation with Donna, we needed a bustle, the armpits to be taken down a bit and the lower back to have more lace. One red flag to me is that Donna makes you pay her in advance. It is my understanding that this is not a normal industry practice. When I returned, in the "After Tailoring" photo, she and her team had removed the sleeves. I told them there had been sleeves and their first response was "Are you sure you bought a dress with sleeves?" Part of the problem is that Donna herself does not do the alterations. She tried to have her team fix it and to her defense, she asked me if it was good to go, and I did not say a word of complaint. At that point, I was exhausted and very aware that it would never be quite the same dress I bought and it felt more difficult to fight it than to just let it be and move on. I had told Anna Be of the issue and they came with me to the next fitting, but it was apparent right away that I was the 3rd party and the outsider. The third photo, Final Product is how the sleeves turned out. It was still a wonderful day and a beautiful dress, but I can not recommend Donna and I only wanted to write this review for other brides so they can avoid the sadness and frustration that I went through going to this tailor. You want a tailor who will make the dress fit you better, not alter the design. read more

Donna Beth Creations was recommended to me when I purchased my dress at BHLDN. I paid $695 for alterations and am so disappointed. First of all, I had to travel 30 minutes for each visit and ended up having to go in five different times. The initial visit was the only time I met Donna Beth and that was when she collected my payment in full in her office. I expected my next appointment to have all alterations completed that we went over and pinned, however they only did some. I was concerned the tulle on my dress was bulky and asked if we could bring it in on the skirt. They kept having me hold off until what would have been my final appointment where I was almost in tears because I hated how overbearing the tulle in the skirt was. They took in a small amount and I came back and asked again for more to be taken off. My wedding is this Friday and my dress still isn't what I would like it to be as I feel I am swimming in tulle and i was running out of time to keep going in every Saturday morning to keep telling them to take it in more. I am so disappointed with this service. In speaking with my friend, she also had an incredibly disappointing experience where they lost half of the buttons her mother had gifted her to put on her dress. There were a few speed bumps that threw me for a loop and may have stressed me out more than they should have. However, it was nothing that Donna couldn't fix. If I could give zero stars I would. I highly discourage anyone to get dress alterations here. Donna herself doesn't do the alternations anymore and the staff she has hired to do them is horrible. Numerous times I voiced my concerns about multiple problems with my dress and Donna herself checked on me one time during my 3 appts. The fact that she knew what the issues were regarding my dress and still continued to let me walk out the door like that is HORRIBLE! My dress bodice was completely changed and they got rid of my dropped waist WHICH I NEVER ASKED FOR! That was one of the main features I fell in love with. I've also attached pictures of the "seams" that someone sewed underneath the bodice that cause bunching around my waist as well. My 10 year old little sister could've done a better job. After voicing all of these concerns 3 days before my wedding Donna offered a full refund for the $560 cost of alterations. I asked for her to pay for the cost of my dress which was $500 and she refused stating she wanted the dress in hand before she would give me the money 3 DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING!!!! What was i supposed to wear to my wedding?? BAD BAD BUSINESS! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I am generally happy with how my dress turned out. This place has high-end alterations, is priced as so (~$800 for my alterations), and very professional. The bodice fit perfectly, however, there was something funky going on with the train which my mom nor I could get straightened out on my actual wedding day. Unfortunately this business seems to be a hit or a miss for its customers. Either they kill it and make clients happy or they BOMB IT and leave clients wondering what the hell happened. In this case they BOMBED IT COMPLETLY. My girlfriend used them for her wedding dress and the dresses for the bride's maids, maids of honor and the flower girl. My dress was altered incorrectly and rode into my armpits, costing me an additional 50 dollars for that minor incorrect alteration, another Bride's maid's dress showed up with a huge water looking stain that she kept trying to hide in the folds ALL DAY, especially during the photo shoots and ceremony. And the bride's dress, which has been altered at least twice, was still not right. Our bride's maids dresses were 180 dollars, which I'll never wear again because it doesn't fit right and is most uncomfortable. Ultimately, unless these guys really seem to take a liking to you don't expect the best service. For that amount of money each dress cost they should have been PERFECT. WE delt with it, but I'm writing this review so you don't have to. 1 star is even a bit generous. read more

The staff are all so friendly and helpful, especially Ray! My dress was beautiful before but I was blown away by how much more beautiful it looked after being altered. A review of bridesmaids dress shopping only. Word is Donna Beth Creations does great alterations but I have not used this service and am not reviewing this service. This location is a bit hard to find if you don't know exactly where to go the first time, but once you're there feels homey and a bit like being in an artists studio. Seems to have a good selection of gowns and accessories. I was shocked that we had to make appointment and yet when we arrived, a girl rolled over a rolling rack to us and just had us pull dresses out ourselves that we liked, then never came back to check on us, so we rolled it into a fitting room and tried them on by ourselves. No help in and out of the gowns, no clipping for accurate fit... would never spend money here due to lack of service. Recommend they get with the program on creating a shopping experience. read more

Donna Beth did an amazing job on my wedding dress alterations! I had just moved to Denver and brought my dress with me. It had a large bow on the back and I was a bit nervous to find someone to make it work. I found DBC through Little White Dress (who also sells my dress) and I have been nothing but impressed. She's so warm and welcoming. Everything was done on time and she even carefully packed it in a suitcase for my travel. Full skirt and all! I would 100% recommend her work to anyone. read more

I originally worked with my bridal shop to select a seamstress; they gave me a list of names and I ended up picking the seamstress that would travel to the boutique since my dress was being stored there and I thought it would be easier - that ended up being a big mistake. The seamstress was very nice and could do basic alterations, but I felt she was trying to talk me into the dress as is - and I kept insisting that it was fitting me wrong. Joy (stylist/manager at anna be) called me the same day after seeing I was unhappy with the way things were going and she referred me to a different seamstress - Donna Beth Creations. She said they had worked with her in the past and felt she was a better fit. Donna agreed to pick up where the other seamstress left off; she said she would even do the work at no cost because I was getting so close to my wedding day and just wanted to help. I worked with Donna and Kellie and they both made me feel so much better from the second I walked in their door. I asked Donna what she thought about the dress... She replied: "I think it doesn't fit your body..." she even said at one point the way it was fitted looked "frumpy" She pulled the waist in a couple inches and it immediately changed the entire way I looked in the dress. The waist was also dropped too low for my body and she pulled that up to fit my torso. She was a true professional and I instantly knew I was in the right place. I wish I could give Donna Beth Creations 10 stars because she completely saved the day, and I was only a couple weeks away from my wedding. It wasn't even the fact that she fixed the dress, but the fact that she was honest and told me that it just didn't fit right... she could tell just by the way I was standing and pulling at the dress that the corset (which was tight) was still too lose. She had already told me she would do the alterations for free - and she ended up doing a lot more work to fix the dress to make it perfect. The way Donna, Kellie, and the rest of the staff treated me was amazing. I honestly felt like they were family in the way they spoke to me. I even teared up when I picked up my dress and said goodbye to them. I absolutely can't say enough how great they were. I would HIGHLY recommend them. read more

Donna Beth is amazing!!! I got married two months after I got engaged and my dress was bought off the rack and two sizes too big. My first fitting was a week after I called for an appointment thinking there was no way they could fix my beautiful lace gown that quickly.They did! it fit like a glove! With the size changes I wasn't happy with how the lace was shaped near the neckline, it looked different than it did when it was simply pinned back at the store I bought it. Donna fixed it no problem! She was able to completely change the shape of the front without cutting the lace!! Everything was done in less than 3 weeks and in perfect time to hop a plane to Hawaii for our wedding! My wedding plans had changed so quickly but I knew my dress was being taken care of and it just made everything perfect. Lots of tears at our intimate wedding and the dress was perfect! So happy, pure magic. read more

Our family had a very disappointing experience with Donna Beth Creations on a custom re-design of a 1950s wedding gown. After paying more than $1,000, not only was the dress not entirely finished when it arrived at our destination wedding site (where we could not fix it, had to use safety pins), it was slightly soiled in places, wrinkled, and the neckline buckled oddly. Worst of all, I contacted the proprietor more than a month ago to register concerns, with photos; she still has not responded. I would warn brides, mothers, and wedding planners to cross this establishment off your list. read more

I would NOT recommend this place. The store is great and the staff is friendly. However, we ordered 7 bridesmaids dresses from this store and EVERY GIRL needed alterations. I think they intentionally ordered two sizes larger so that the store could make another $75 off of each one of us for alterations. (They do all needed alterations for a flat $75 fee.) I realize that sizes are different than normal dresses sizes but I've NEVER been to a boutique that got the sizes so wrong on everyone's dress. All of us need 2+inches taken off the whole top bodice so that the dress didn't fall off of us. I either think the ladies that do the measurements wrong or they do this intentionally to make more money. I'd look elsewhere for dresses. read more

I highly discourage ever going to Donna Beth Creations. She made my wedding experience a complete nightmare. While Donna may appear friendly, helpful, and competent, she runs a horrible business. On the fourth and final fitting of my wedding dress, I arrived to find my dress was in pieces. Donna said that the dress was damaged and she did not know how to alter it to fit me. With just a couple of weeks before my big day, Donna suggested that I go find another dress. When I asked her to return the dress to the original condition, so I could at least take it back to the store where it was purchased and talk to them, she said I would have to pay her $500-600 for alterations. Additionally, I took my mother's original wedding dress to her. I waited my entire life to wear this dress at my rehearsal dinner. It was a gorgeous dress and carried so much meaning for us. The alterations she made to my mother's dress were so poorly done that Donna suggested using double sided tape to keep the fabric down on the entire back of the dress. I've never seen such poor workmanship and customer service in my life, especially for something so important as a wedding dress. There are numerous alterations companies in the Denver area, so I highly recommend finding another place to take something as meaningful to you as a wedding dress. Do not take a chance with Donna Beth Creations! read more

I brought my wedding dress to Donna after it was absolutely slaughtered by another seamstress in town and she was able to fit me in and fix it in two days. My wedding unfortunately was already over (it was destination), but I was still able to wear my dress and look the way I wanted to for our big reception here at home. Donna was able to re-insert boning (this other crazy bag took it out!!!), sew down the lace layers that were sticking up/out, added buttons/straps for more support and really just fixed everything that was messed up and very quickly.
