This place is a dive bar in every sense of the word. It captures everything you love and loathe about the genre, though it leans a bit heavily into the 'loathe' category. The layout is a bit of a puzzle-if you're in the front half, the stage is essentially behind a wall. On the plus side, the service was solid and the KJ was incredibly friendly! However, between the general lack of cleanliness and the same four people cycling in and out the front door every five minutes, it's a bit of an odd vibe. On a Saturday night it was empty. I would suggest stopping by for a quick drink and some people-watching, but I'd definitely skip the kitchen. I was shocked when I saw they offered so many options of food on a screen at the bar. This is not a place I would eat. There are better spots nearby unless you're strictly looking for a "quick and dirty" drink. read more

If one offers late night bar food for delivery, one should probably be capable of making such food in an edible fashion. In the case of Donnell's Bar this is not the case. I can't speak to the ambiance or service while at the bar, but I can speak to the food I received, which was inedible. And we aren't talking about anything fancy here - a basic hamburger and tater tots. The tots were soggy and undercooked and the burger was a joke. And not a funny one. Perhaps don't offer food for delivery if you can't actually make food? I can't imagine the bar experience would have been any better based on the basic inattention to detail shown. read more

Good thing my wife and I are vaccinated, because this place is not exactly spacious! Things were a bit crowded when we arrived, and shortly thereafter we were told they had hit internal capacity; I was surprised they were paying attention at all, for as busy as it was! A little grungy overall, but that's part of the charm. Drinks are cheap and strong, and all of the bartenders and staff were almost absurdly friendly and sociable! There's a nice covered patio out back, and karaoke is a thing, at least on the weekend nights. It definitely attracts a...wilder crowd, though. I contacted Donnell's to see if they could accommodate a group of people for an after hours conference karaoke event. Not only did they accommodate us, they went above and beyond to make our evening special. Good drinks and food and a great karaoke DJ! Big, huge shoutout to Kaylee for all her hard work. She provided decorations, reserved tables and thought of details I would have missed. She stayed overtime to accommodate a ton of unexpected people on a Tuesday night and did it all with a kind, genuine, and calm approach. I can't say enough good things about this place! read more

Awful, and dangerous. I went here with my wife and some friends. One of the friends had her ID stolen, my wife got roofied with a pill cut with Fentanyl and started to code in the driveway when we got home. I called Donnell's the next day to let them know and they blamed my wife for not keeping an eye on her drink and told me "that thing happens here every so often." Went in on a Sunday and there were only one other couple in there. We were asked for id's and joked about being almost 60 but had no problem with showing our id's, in the meantime the bartender made ageist remarks about us to the other couple. So dissapointed we walked out. read more

First off, the bartender spilled my margarita onto my wife's purse and then dropped the lime on the drink mat, but used it anyway to add to my next margarita. The glass that my beer came in looked like maybe 10 ounces, but the cost of a full pint and tasted funny. Like they need to clean thier lines and taps. I switched to can beers after the first one seemed so small. a PBR or Miller shouldn't cost that much. Our bill ended up being way too much for what we drank. First off, location location location. Seriously? -The interior smells like sweat, puke, piss, and alcohol. If thats your thing, then by all means. -The bartenders have next to no room to do their job and are seriously understaffed. -The "bouncers" at the door are a joke to put it nicely. Are you willing to sing and drink? Cool! You can come on in and we don't need to see your ID. -Remember those poor bartenders? Maybe if they'd take their jobs seriously, they wouldn't be getting a nasty review. Generally speaking, the limit of Long Island Iced Teas per person is 2. Not "I'll keep serving you as long as you don't puke in my bar". Can we say health concern, because we all know that once you've had a few, it's VERY easy to have a few more.. -Serving alcohol right up until closing and allowing patrons to finish their drinks after hours. I went to Vancouver 2 weeks ago to help my daughter pack to move into their new home. I wanted to go sing a little Karaoke and relax. So, I checked the reviews on bars and decided to give Donnell's Karaoke bar a try. I have had millions of burgers and tater tots in my lifetime, but this was the most mouthwatering cheeseburger and tots I have ever eaten. The ranch dressing that was served with my tots had the taste of homemade not that gaggy slimy stuff you usually get from restaurants. Who would ever think you could get awesome food in a bar. The Karaoke guy Mike was awesome. Because I was from out of town he asked permission from the regulars to let me sing first. The atmosphere was wonderful and well-lit, and the regulars were friendly and very outgoing. I fell in love with the bartenders and the owner. The owner Tro came over and sat down and started talking to me, which I thought was awesome in itself. Then he kept checking back to make sure I was being well taken care of. He was a very good looking man and single, if only I had been 29 years younger. Now, that to me is over the top great service. It was the Bartender Shawn's birthday that night and the owner called her up on stage and surprised her with a big beautiful birthday cake. When I go back to Vancouver to visit my daughter I know where I will be singing Karaoke and getting my hamburgers from now on. I still think of that cheeseburger. If I thought I could order the cheeseburger and tots thru Doordash or Grubhub and have it delivered to Coeur d' Alene I would do it in a heartbeat. Thank you everyone for an awesome night. read more

I use to come here when it was called something different and always had amazing, friendly service. Unfortunately, this didn't transfer to the new bar. I stood in front of the bar, that was near empty and even made eye contact with the "bartender" who was very much more interested in getting her freak on with another gentleman in the bar. I asked if she was serving beer tonight and she responded with, "Probably" This bar isn't going to make it and I sure hope the owners know how terrible it is in there, now. I went next door to the Pacific house and Main Event and both were wonderful and a great alternative to this place. read more

This place is wild! Been in now two times and each time, we've left with funny stories to tell and fond memories. Both times we came in, it was karaoke night. The evening starts off slow but over time, Donnell's fills up. It's like American Idol up in there! Folks have been waiting all their lives to grace the stage and belt one out. You can tell the regulars from the newbies as it seems like everyone knows everyone and the crowd cheers for their friends. If you're new, drunk, or simply just not on key, the crowd is still respectful. Some folks even have choreographed dance moves. The only downfall that I would say this place has is, lack of adequate staff. The lines for beverages is often long and the staff sometimes can get overwhelmed, which is totally understandable. I personally haven't had an issue waiting. Lot's to see while doing so. read more

This little bar is owned by very good friends of mind but that is not the reason for a good review. The reason is that this bar literally rocks. The drinks are excellent, the food, while limited is prepared well and served hot and delicious. I like the fact that it is big enough to handle karaoke and bands both and yet, you can still have a conversation and there is even room to dance. 10/10 food and service. Tried to call the cook at 1:30am but phone was disconnected. Ordered both chicken strips and mushroom burger, both with fries. Super fresh and delicious, came with both cups of ketchup and raunch!! I need to call tomorrow and let manager know to thank cook for excellently cooking both meals!! Also I was impressed by the presentation of the mushroom burger. It had only mushrooms and cheese with the rest of the accoutrements on the sides. And the lettuce was chopped instead of leaves which made it easier to eat. read more
