Love this place! Always friendly bartenders greet you immediately when you walk in. I have visited 2 times in the last week that should tell you I really like this place A LOT. The atmosphere is definitely speakeasy style. Warm wood, huge wall with tons of whiskey choices and big rolled up window seat to enjoy a summer day. You can also sit out in the covered courtyard which is shared by Shanahans. I am impressed with their regular menu Standard Old Fashioned for $10! It is delicious and well balanced. Seriously you would easily pay $16 for this drink anywhere else in downtown Vanwa. I also love their HH halibut tacos. My husband and I decided to try out the Infirmary this weekend and planned to sit on Shanahan's patio. We were pleasantly surprised by the low cost of our beverages. My husband had an Old Fashioned and I had a beverage called a Dark and Stormy. Both were good but not great. The two bar tenders were talkative and friendly but moved a bit slowly as a result. Such a nice bar but the service was not so great. There were 2 people in line in the bar ahead of us but the service was soooo slow. I'm not sure why it took so long for the bartender to take our order and make the drinks. We love the food here because they share the same kitchen as Shanahan's. I have taken an obsessive liking to Old Fashioned since I had one here and now my benchmark for a good old Fashioned Is this place . Seriously, any drink you order from the menu wouldn't disappoint you . The bar staff is amazing and very knowledgeable on their collection of whiskeys . They also offer cigars which is not something I have tried but seems to be very popular with the customers. Food is average bar food but reasonably priced -plenty of options. The cocktail list is small but they do the classics very well and the bartenders were happy to make anything, they said. Their happy hour has decent small plates and goes till 7 which is great, although the food is inconsistent - the fish tacos were fresh with a flavorful salsa, and the chicken quesadilla was decent, but the caprese salad was mainly lettuce without fresh basil and had way too much pepper. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The patio would be nice but it's very smokey which my wife and I don't enjoy, so we sat inside. Many many options on scotches and Bourbons, and many choices of rye whiskey, as well You'd do well to stop in here. The place has an old town atmosphere, and a crazy bar that goes from floor to ceiling 14 feet + one of those sliding library ladders. It's cozy, but not too cozy if you know what I mean. read more

The venue was appealing, lots of whiskey. The service was lacking. We arrived at about 4:45 and there were only 2 other sets of 2 customers. We had to "interrupt" the bartender to get any service. Not quite sure why he was so busy... After we received our flight and drink order, business picked up, so I understand why he was busy then but he never came back to check on us and we had to go stand in line to cash out. Since we had a whiskey flight, one would have thought he would have started the tab already. No suck luck, so again waiting while he had to search for the items we had in order to create our bill. read more
