I didn't get her name but whoever was working 11/16/25 was the rudest person. She was so mean. Im sorry if I bothered her by pulling over into an empty lot and buying a coffee. I understand she didnt want us to block a pump but there was no one! No lines for their pumps and the one next to us was open. We were the only other people aside from a broken down car. Stopped by yesterday before going home. Bought a gas station ham and cheese sandwich and some snacks. Got in the car and took off and my girl said don't eat this it's bad. The package was poofy. She said don't eat it it's bad. So guys be careful don't buy anything that has a bloated packaging. it's spoiled even if the date says it's not expired. I wouldn't buy any food that's in the fridge or freezer actually. read more

My car lost power steering while I was on 80 heading to Reno; luckily I was able to crawl off the exit and land at Donner Summit Gas. My passenger had AAA but neither of us had a phone. The very kind lady at the cash register let us call AAA and arrange for towing service, sold us some snacks and was very encouraging as we waited for the tow truck. My only complaint is there were no paper towels in the restroom. Thank you! read more

Doesn't make any sense - I was just trying to buy something. Stay away unless you want someone prying into your business and trying to start arguments. read more

The service here is great and what else can you expect from a gas station except the bathrooms are filthy and disgusting. This is a usual stop en route to Nevada but these bathrooms need to be kept up. read more

Honestly, I'm not too surprised I'm the first person to review Donner Gas. It's a rather nondescript gas station just south of the Soda Spring exit on I-80, 13 miles west of Truckee. It's owned by the Wells family who also own the Nyack Shell. Why do I know so much? Last week, I was stranded there for over six hours waiting for a tow from AAA when my car broke down. (As an aside, AAA didn't come for 11 hours-- thanks for nothing). It was quite cold in my car, so I took frequent breaks inside the store. This is what I learned: *Donner Gas has a core group of people who are very nice and care about their jobs. They keep a very clean and well organized shop. *Bathrooms are accessed from the outside, and unlocked. You don't have to fuss with a pesky key. *The store has a variety of healthy food. Interspersed with the typical junk food are cheese sticks, raw nuts, cereal, bananas, and a selection of fresh salads and sandwiches. They also have some frozen meals (eg: burritos) and a handy microwave for defrosting your lunch. In other words, you can eat well if you want to! *Store also sells a variety of household and automotive items-- wine openers, motor oil, Tahoe souvenirs. *There is a large heater in the back that you can stand next to and warm up. Mostly, the staff were very welcoming and accepting of me and my teenage son. I appreciate that they let me hang around their store for so long! The store is also called "Sugar Bowl gas" for reasons I don't quite understand. Hope you get to drop by, but not because you have been stranded for hours. read more

The woman working here was extremely nice and offered utensils and hot water for the ramen I bought from the gas station, I was saving it for later but it was still awfully nice. They also had what I needed when the other walkable stores did not. I had a flat and got a repair kit as well as fix a flat from this gas station. read more

DSG station in Soda Springs off interstate 80 to the left has the worst customer service. The guy behind the cash register cussed at me when I handed him a hundred-dollar bill for gas. Note they will not break or TAKE a hundred-dollar bill even if you are on empty. read more

I've lived in Cali all my life and travel this route frequently. I never stop at this station because it looked so remote but this time I saw the new store logo so I stopped. The station looked abuzz so I pulled over. Small store with everything you need but what I liked the best was the pleasant cashier Justin who was so pleasant to everyone who came in and everyone who came to the register. That is so rare these days. Even in my hometown I have yet to find a place where service is so friendly. I will definitely stop here every time I pass through just to get a dose of Justin's attitude. read more

This place was a lifesaver for my family. We were taking a day trip. We got a flat and also broke the chain on that tire. The people at Donner Summit Gas were so helpful, accommodating, and welcoming to us. While we waited, they let us hang out and feel comfortable. I had my two kids with me so they were a bit stare crazy. This is a great place to plan your stop and gas up, get snacks, do maintenance checks on your car or in our case receive immediate help. read more

I don't normally review gas stations, but the folks at Donner Summit Gas were so helpful, courteous, and friendly. They helped me with maps, I grabbed some cold waters and snacks. A great place for pit-stop when heading up skiing. I appreciate the great service. read more
