I'm traveling up the 80 towards Nevada and I thought I could make it without stopping, but that coffee I had to stay awake is calling the nature call. I'm traveling in my own personal vehicle leading the rest of my crew in the big rental Suburban carrying all our equipment. I know there's a Chevron right at the first exit at the bottom of Donner pass hill dropping into Truckee. Better watch you speed coming down that hill, its easy to get going way too fast! I call my guys to tell them I gotta stop, so we take the first exit and go through the round abouty thingy and the station is right there. All the chevron stations seem like they renamed the convivence stores to Power Markets. Whatever, it's still carries all the road food you need and restrooms as well. What I like about this location is it's super fast on and off the 80, easy to get back on the freeway! Service was fine, just don't get gas here unless you really have to, prices are off the charts high, like holy shit high! Restrooms were clean this time and the crew all used them as well as got some more road food. I think I can make it to the hotel now! read more

I really hate having to fill up the gas in Truckee. It's just so expensive. But when I do have to go to convenience store, I really like this place. Pretty much have met all of the workers, they are extremely friendly and helpful. I know most of the people by first name and they all know mine. That said, there is a promotion for today. I entered with my son to get him a frozen drink. There were dispensers for small, medium, large cups. The small cups were labeled, "small $1.69". We took a small cup, filled it, and took it to the register. It rang up $2.49. I said, "this is a small, it's $1.69." The attendant said, "no it's 20 ounces so it's $2.49." I walked over to the small dispenser and pointed out that all the cups in the small dispenser were 20 ounces and that the dispenser was clearly labeled "small $1.69". She said, "if it rings up $2.49, it's $2.49." I put up my hands in a gesture of surrender, turned around, walked out. She yelled after me, "thanks for wasting it." California code 12024.2 says a store can't charge more at the register than the displayed price. Even if she didn't want to sell it to me for the displayed price, I'd at least expect her to admit the problem and fix the cups or price so she's not knowingly charging people more than the displayed price. Since she did none of that and instead was snarky to me for not being willing to be overcharged, I filed a complaint with the FTC. read more

I went the store by the time at 11:30 pm or so I was trying to pour some hot water with using my own thermos cup the cashier stopped me with a kind of arrogant attitude which was completely unacceptable!!! If you are looking to be taken advantage of, then this is the place for you.... Beyond supply and demand, getting chains from here is a total scam. Drive the extra miles back into town or find CalTrans at checkpoints to get reasonable prices. I paid $180 for chains plus $50 for the "recommended, reasonable" installation guy in the parking lot. Also to note, the cashier gave me the wrong size and gave me grief upon questioning. While talking to CalTrans I would have been charged $130 for chains and installation. I was here on November 1st at 3am. I tried to go into the store to buy bottled water. I saw that there was a bell that needed to be rung to be allowed inside of the station so I rang the bell. The clerk ignored me staring down his phone while he could obviously see me at the door. When I knocked on his window to get his attention he lied to me and told me that the store is closed. I was quite sure the store was a 24 hour location so I looked online and indeed the hours were from 12 AM to 12 AM which indicated that the store was a 24 hour location. After waiting for about another 10 minutes I saw that he was allowing other customers inside the store. I was shocked, appalled and sick to my stomach to realize the clerk was actually discriminating against me by not allowing me to enter the location based on merely my African-American appearance. Being a gay African-American male in this mountain town can be quite a difficult life on its own but when even your local gas station will not allow you to enter to simply buy some nourishment and hydration for yourself after making a long journey over the summit you realize what kind of people are working for you in your neighborhood stores around Truckee. Our town is better than this and we should work to get rid of discrimination against our citizens. read more

So I walked in and here the lady that works there taking about my child while I'm standing in line to use the restroom but when that worker was telling other customer that I just left . Cool little stop on the way up to Northstar! Large easy to access parking lot and clean bathroom. They sell beer, candy, cigarettes, coffee, and all that other typical gas station stuff. What really made the difference here was that my friend went to purchase a cup of Joe for the ride home after a long day of boarding. As he went to pour himself some from the pot, the employees stopped him. They advised him that the pot had been out for a little while so was still hot but not fresh. They asked if he was willing to wait a few minutes so they could brew a fresh pot just for him. This was cool because it wasn't like there was a crowd of people looking to get coffee. He was literally the only person who wanted it and they wanted to make sure he got a really fresh cup! read more

Came early morning to fill up my large coffee jug for 4 adults. I live in Truckee and we have family in town camping. The young man working this morning was polite and all was well. Paid for my coffee grabbed some cream and sugar and went on my way. Unfortunately we stopped here again around noon to pay to dump and refill the in-laws trailer and grab some more coffee. Only filled the container half way and asked for the smallest bag they had to put some cream and sugars in. I even offered the nice young lady money (because refills are so cheap ). She said "no you are good ". As I'm grabbing some creamers (about 10 of them and 5 sugar packets) an older lady comes out of somewhere and yells across the store at me and said "excuse me, do you plan to pay for those?" Stopped there on 5/27 to get $20 Worth of gas. When I got home a few hours later I had two emails stating I had two charges on my card one for $20 and one for $101. I called my credit card company and they called the station and spoke to Dylan. He informed us that it wasn't chevron that charged us that it was visa that did it and we needed to get a hold of visa and find out why they put a hold for $101 on top of the $20. I let him know that I've use this card since 2003 at many different gas stations everywhere I have never been charged a hold. The lady with my credit card company then called Visa and they informed us that they never put holds for merchants. When she tried to call back to talk to Dylan again up? Couldn't hear us? Bad connection? I give up. Just be cautious if you're traveling and getting gas here. For those on a limited or planned budget it could end up leaving you with quite a few hundred dollars in holds on your card and leave you with no spending money for gas until these ridiculous amount holds fall off. read more
