I hesitate to share how good of an experience I had because I don't want to have competition from other people requesting help! Not only was my central a/c repaired (sparing me from cranky family members who were without a/c for a week), I got a patient education on what was wrong and how to fix it. I can't recommend Donovan Mechanical more. Now I am going to reach out to them again because it was pointed out that my hot water heater was about to fail so he quoted me that, as well, with no pressure either way to do anything about it. I didn't get to use Jason's services this time, but he was very responsive on a Sunday when my AC died in the middle of a heat wave and said he would do his best to squeeze me in the following day but couldn't commit without knowing how long his already scheduled jobs would end up taking. Nicest guy ever. Was able to get here much faster than expected, at a time when we've been without heat for a couple of days. He showed up wearing a mask, which is always a plus; we had a very minor issue which he solved in about two seconds and didn't even charge us because of that. He even showed me how to handle the problem again if it happens. Would highly recommend - we've dealt a variety of different plumbing/heating specialists, they do not conduct their business like this typically. I arranged with donovan mechanical to do a maintenance on my burhnam boiler. Jason called to let me know he would be a few minutes late arriving..very thoughtful and appreciated. Jason did a complete tuneup of my boiler. He took additional time to explain how everything worked and checked and set all controls to factory settings. He did a gas leak check as well as carbon monoxide levels. He reviewed what I should monitor on my boiler and suggested components which might need replacing in the future. I felt complete confidence in his expertise and skills and will trust him to keep my system in good running order. Where I was unhappy was his lack of organization. There was some follow up work which I wasn't ready to do yet. When I was ready to do it I had to follow up multiple times to see when and if the work could be done. In my last interaction with him Jason had no idea who I was, claimed he had too many customers and parts to keep track of and then accused me of canceling the job even after I shared our text history. It's kind of sad that it's such a surprise to find a responsive, efficient, knowledgable, fair, honest service person these days, but Jason is all of those things. He was able to come out quickly when my heat and A/C both were not working. He quickly diagnosed and fixed that problem and I immediately booked him to come out and do a service check on my systems. Despite the fact my heating unit is in a nearly inaccessible spot in the attic, he did all the work, clearly explained everything and charged a fair price. I almost don't want to give him more rave reviews because I don't want him to get too busy to service my systems, but that wouldn't be fair. If you've got HVAC needs, give him a call. read more

Jason repaired an old ductless heat pump/AC unit and performed preventative maintenance on a newer heat pump/AC in 2019. His truck broke right before our first appointment, and he promptly let me know. We rescheduled for the next day, and he was right on time. Jason is as expert a guy as you can get. My wife and I called Donovan Mechanical after a recent heatwave when we found our central A/C system not to be working. We had tried more than three other companies before calling Jason, and each company said they couldn't fit us in until after at least a two-week waiting period. Jason responded within a half hour of my call and came out to my condo within five hours. He was very thorough in diagnosing the problem (a leak from an outside pipe near the compressor), took his time to explain the situation and how he would address it, and charged a fair price for the work that needed to be done. And of course, most importantly, the work was done right. The A/C works, and now we're ready for the next heatwave. I highly recommend Jason. Consider getting a maintenance contract with Donovan Mechanical if you have a central A/C unit. Incredibly unprofessional. Completely left me high and dry today after scheduling and confirming my appointment 6 days ago. When he was 30 minutes late, I texted him to find out if he was coming. At 50 minutes late, I texted again. I finally heard back from him almost 90 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. He proceeded to tell me he never scheduled an appt with me, said they were off for the Veteran's Day holiday and had never booked an appt with me. At that point I sent him a screen shot of his exact confirmation saying he'd arrive Monday 11/11 at 8am. He then said he 'meant' to book me for Tuesday (a day we never once discussed, as that's a day I work and am not even available), and said that if he came out today it would be emergency service prices of $220/hr with a 2 hour minimum. (So $440 minimum + materials, etc. for him to come out and keep an appt that was his mistake...right, ok.) We went back and forth a couple times as I reminded him I'd been without heat for a week, have 1 day off/week to get this taken care of, and would not be paying emergency prices for his mistake. He then responded, "Due to your attitude I am not coming today so have a great day and you can call someone else." Call someone else...well, I couldn't agree more dude. I'd rather freeze for the next week while I work on getting someone else into my home than ever pay a dime to this poor excuse for a professional. Do yourself a huge favor and definitely take your HVAC business elsewhere. read more

I would highly recommend Donovan Mechanical for anyone with Heating & Air issues. Jason was extremely responsive unlike many of the big companies, who won't bother calling you back. He was extremely thorough in diagnosing the issue and making sure I was completely informed. We decided to not fix our broken compressor and Jason was able to install our new air conditioner the next day. I'm a few weeks late in writing this review but wanted to be sure I took a moment to sing Jason's praises. I called him at 7AM on a freezing morning (based on the fabulous Yelp reviews!) because we were having trouble bringing the temp in our drafty brownstone up to the setting on the thermostat. Jason answered on the first ring and promised us a home visit 24 hours later. Within an hour he had the settings on our furnace properly adjusted and also called the manufacturer to make sure we were fully optimized. Jason is a responsive, friendly and efficient professional.
