My son (11 year old and PICKY) and I stopped at Don's Diner on a whim after visiting the local bookstore. We could not have been more delighted with our food. I got the french toast made with cinnamon swirl bread, bacon, sunny side up egg (perfectly cooked) and home fries. He got the baked beans, and a side of bacon. He gobbled his food up and then ate my french toast while exclaiming with delight the whole time. Our waitress could not have been more lovely and she was clearly familiar and friendly with the customers, greeting them by name and welcoming them for breakfast. My brother that lives in Connecticut is an aficionado of older diners, and I can't wait to take him to Don's Diner next time he is visiting!! read more

Cute small diner. I was hungry and had to wait for someone in the area so I stopped to eat here. I was greeted upon walking in by my soon to be server. She juggled all of the tables by herself and still managed to refill my coffee which was pretty decent for a basic cup. I was extremely excited by the prices on the menu. My croissant was fresh. My waffle was very good as well. Although the sausage was also very basic it served its purpose quite well. The potatoes weren't very flavorful however they were cooked very well. Cute little diner! Wanted to take my 77 year old Dad here given thre ambiance of the diner. The food, coffee, prices AND service did not disappoint!! For $6.25 you can get one egg, one potato, one pancake OR french toast and a breakfast meat. TWO of each for $8.25. I challenge you to find better locally! And it's all delish. I've had this place bookmarked forever (because hash browns) and finally made my way down to plainville because the wrentham outlets are just down the road. What took me so long!? I love this place and the hash browns, which are so hard to find were perfectly crispy and buttery. I was In Hash brown heaven! Eggs perfectly cooked and the kids pancake was huge! Besides loving the food and the price, the service was pretty amazing. Our waitress was so friendly and apparently there are tons of regulars here, she knew all of them! She was happy and knew what I wanted even before I did! More coffee? Already got it..butter on the side for the kiddo...already done... crayons and extra napkins? Check! Wish I lived closer... The waitstaff make Don's Diner. They're friendly and attentive. We ordered two omelets, a breakfast sandwich and pancakes and they were all tasty & cooked just right. Nothing fancy here and that's totally ok. If you're looking for some solid diner food without a huge line out the door this is the perfect place. They can barely seat a table of 5 so don't come with large groups. I got a blueberry pancake and they were the large berries not the teeny ones. I couldn't tell if they were fresh or frozen and that says a lot. We'll be back to Don's again very soon. read more

Great breakfast and great prices. Definitely a great diner with good history. The only one little complaint is the girl who waited on us never refilled coffees or drinks. Second time my wife went and said once again she ( different waitress) also didn't ask if anyone wanted refills on drinks. We are the most patient people in the world and especially sympathize with people who work in the restaurant industry these days. But that is one very important part of the process. It was a Sunday around 930am I wanna say, they had us put our name down and called us when a table was ready. They are doing a.great job making sure people are distanced. We were very happy with the food and service. Coffee cup was never empty the waitress checked on us often, I got pan cakes, which were hot, fluffy and had lots of chocolate chips, and eggs, bacon and hashbrowns, it was delicious. Food: The food was good. It's your standard diner food. Simple and clean flavors. Yes the hash is most likely canned, but I actually prefer it (I know, don't hate.) I got a hash and cheese omelet with hasbrowns. Hash browns were good, but not as crispy as I like them. I normally ask for extra crispy, so that's my bad. Omelet was a good size filled with tons of cheese and hash. Pumpernickel toast was on point. Boyfriend got the hash Benedict which he loved. Coffee is delish. Service/Atmosphere: The server was friendly to us and quick to take our order. We were the only people in there so it was quiet, and our food came out in a timely manner. The reason for the three stars is unfortunately our experience wasn't the best due to the server yelling at the older woman (heard people calling her grandma, I assume she's one of the owners?) about a missing slip. I understand that it's super frustrating to lose a slip, and more importantly your tip, but your guests are not in your establishment to listen to a server screaming. Some of the best coffee I've ever had! Always fresh, always hot, and always a full cup! We discovered Don's because our intended breakfast destination was packed. Don's is a gem hidden in plain sight - it's on the main road, but if you blink, you'll miss it. I've driven by it dozens of times before today. My advice - don't blink! Offerings were typical diner fare, with imaginative and creative specials on the white boards hanging from the ceiling. Our server was cheerful and very helpful, and made us feel very welcome. While we browsed the menu, three of the biggest, most delicious-looking pancakes I've ever seen walk by, but instead, we both ordered the same omelet (meat lover's), though I ordered mine with cheese. While we waited for our meal, we could solve Mindtrap puzzles stored in a Spam can on our table...nice touch and a great way to pass the time - with your partner, and NOT with your smartphone! When our food arrived, each omelet arrived on a plate laden with home fries or hash browns, and warm, crusty toast. My girlfriend raved about the raisin toast, and I loved the grilled Portuguese sweet roll. We shared a perfectly seasoned side dish of corned beef hash to round out breakfast. My moment of Zen? When I asked for some hot sauce, our server listed four(!) choices, including Cholula! Made me a very happy camper, and we left with VERY full bellies. Can't wait to go back to Don's! When we first walked in, it was very busy. Church probably just was done. Anyway, the place looks like a diner, friendlyish waiters, loud atmosphere, and not very clean. I really wish I had the internet password, cuz its kinda boring. Food took a little long to cone out. The coffee is very bad, and the apple juice is very watered down. My brother says the chocolate milk is good, but i don't really believe him. I get that they're busy and stuff, but if this is a usual day, please get more staff. I had the Belgian waffle, homemade I might add. It was decent, kind of dry, bit thats whats syrup is for. My dad had the corned beed hash Benedict. He gives it an 8.5. Overall, i don't wear overalls.
