First let me say it is a small breakfast diner, they fit 11 of us in there, 6 adults and 5 kids under 7 the food came out hot and fresh and good, and our waitress even remembered what everyone got including the sides. They had crayons and mats to color which did keep all 5 of them busy, but they also had puzzles and games up front. Very laid back and they were very attentive. Not a bad breakfast, not bad at all. The sign wasn't exactly unnoticeable, but it is a little hole in the wall of a local staple. Still, for some reason after years of living in town, we finally made it in. The way I would describe our meal was that it was just a good breakfast. It wasn't trying too hard, nothing extravagant: just an overall good breakfast. This was our first visit, but I'm guessing we could come 100 times and easily get a consistently yummy meal. read more

Food is always good. But the cook time for breakfast in a diner at noon is not. 21 minutes for basic breakfast! Stopped in by chance for breakfast. It's a local family diner style restaurant. A morning meeting place for locals to gather to share a meal and a good cup of coffee. Prices were on pare for the type of restaurant it is. Our waitress was pleasant, friendly & fast. The place is clean and cheerful. The food, well, let's start with the great home fries. Soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Not overly seasoned but just right. French toast was golden and fluffy. Asked for egg cooked medium and it was. Special requests were handled without issue. If ever in the area again we will stop in for a very good meal. read more

Had an amazing breakfast this morning. The food was cooked to perfection and not a bit greasy. The toast was evenly buttered too. I ordered an egg white and homemade hash & cheese omelet well done. Came with home fries and toast. The omelet was perfectly cooked and not greasy (a lot of places can't cook egg whites without ruining them with. Stay butter stuff). The home fries were not salty and nice and crispy along with my pumpernickel bread being evenly toasted. The husband had the "giant" which was 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 French toast and home fries. He said that everything came out perfect. The coffee was also one of the best I've had at a restaurant. Believe it may have been French or dark roast which made it easy for me to have 2 cups. No watered down flavoring here The place may be small with only 8 booths/tables and 6 bar stools but that's why everything was amazing. I don't understand how this place has positive reviews or is even still in business... We decided to try breakfast here today based on the 4 star rating it has on Yelp and it was far from a good or even decent experience... First off, the waitress we had was incredibly rude. With no welcoming greeting she asks from across the room "what do you guys want to drink?!" Then brings us our orange juices and has an attitude about my girlfriend asking for a straw. It was very uncomfortable from the start... Then came time to order our food and after ordering, which you need to basically walk around the room because the menu is posted along the walls, she brings over to the table a bottle of maple syrup and butter and practically slams it on the table When the food finally came, it was all flavorless and some even seemed undercooked (sausages, bacon, home fries, etc.) And to end it all, after giving my card to pay, the waitress came back to hand my slip...without my card...I had to walk to the counter where it was sitting in plain sight and grabbed it and just said, "sorry, you forgot to bring this back" The entire experience was awful and made both of us feel like we were a bother to even have breakfast here Will not be returning and I advise anyone looking for a good breakfast in the area to instead go to Mackies a few doors down. Well this place won't win any interior decorating awards but the food was good . The corned beef hash was home made and the portions were huge. The place seemed clean but the cigarette smell was kind of a turnoff for a non smoker. Overall Jd's food quality surpassed my expectations when I sat down. FYI a breakfast place should never run out of Orange Juice or coffee but there was no Orange Juice left to be had at 10.30 on a Saturday morning. Love this place. Food is great and staff is friendly. The menu offerings are endless but we pretty much go with the delicious homemade hash and poached eggs or the eggs Benedict. My teenage kids love to go and sit at the old fashioned counter and listen to the stories and the occasional little spats between the staff. This is such a good little place to grab a nice, cheap breakfast. It's so easy to just walk in. We didn't wait at all and got here around 11AM. So many options it was hard to choose! They offer you a menu and then also have additional offerings written on chalk boards around the restaurant! This was the first time I was here and a customer at the bar told me to come on in and have a seat anywhere! It was very welcoming and friendly. The waitress was really funny and super attentive to our table. The best part about this place is the great price! Everything was pretty much under $10 and the food was great! Dives are one of the best places to get great, home style coking. Most importantly, Dives remind me of growing up and those special moments at lunch counters and small greasy spoons with my father. Any place that can call up that kind of memory and offer up great food at the same time has to be doing something right. Portions are generous, the food is good and high quality. JDs is all about breakfast and Lunch though, so don't go expecting to find them open for dinner. Once the lunch rush is done so is JDs until tomorrow. If you're there for breakfast you absolutely must try the corned beef hash. It's homemade and you probably haven't had anything like it. It's worth a try. Great spot for breakfast. There's nothing like being called "hun" in an old diner. Love it. I usually get 3 eggs, wheat toast, home fries and bacon. The eggs are fresh and perfectly cooked. The bacon is thick and cooked just right. The potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft in the midde, just as they're meant to be, but almost no spices. If they had a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and paprika, they would be out of this world. read more

The service is friendly, but has that old-timey diner "grit" that I love (no ladies with beehive hair smackin' their Bubbalicious HERE) and your food is served quickly. At peak breakfast hours on a Saturday there were a couple of tables open and plenty of room at the counter - the counter's where the action is, so that's where I normally sit. Perched upon my red-cushioned stool (place hasn't been updated since Eisenhower was in office) I had a clear view of the one-room restaurant. All along the walls are small blackboards with different "specials" chalked on - these plates can't be found on the paper menu (and are certainly worth reading over before placing your order). Feeling the love for my New Hampshire diner roots....I ordered the plate that sparked memories of summer in my defrosting New England heart: The Camper's (toast, 2eggs, homefries, and beans). The beans were tender and juicy with smoked molasses flavor, the homefries were crisp and tasted of the ole campin' skillet. Hoooo doggie, pack on sum over-easy eggs and hot damn you've got a tootin' hit on yer hands!...sorry...the flavors really got to me! The beau ordered "The Mini": 1 egg, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, and 2 slices French toast (a steal at 4$). Not quite dinery enough for you? - he added corn beef hash as a side. Want to know how I know it was good? - we didn't talk over breakfast....we just relished in the sweet gritty splendor of our breakfast (....good.....food). The coffee was sufficient (not that I was expecting the Ritz of javas), but only half&half was available as dairy additive (no skim *pout*). This did not stop me from enjoying two cups and refills came quickly and without hassle. The bill came after we had confirmed that we were pleasantly full (thanks, Joanne!) - we felt not rush to leave (unlike some diners - JD's won't kick you out as soon as you've finished wiping your breakfast hole). NOT a bad total for the service, speed, options, and flavor (total was 15$ for 2 breakfasts and bev's), and probably my favorite place to go for a totally (no...REALLY) casual breakfast in the NoAtt (great hangover food, the joint's open for business 6am-2pm). read more

Poor quality ingredients for what is called breakfast. Service was lacking. Our first hint should have been when a nearby table had their food delivered, removed and food and redelivered. The waitress took our order and then returned again 15 minutes and reverified it. The home fries were tasteless, the omelette was a meat lovers with no cheese and poor meat quality. A good restaurant; what really sets it apart, however, is the nice, familial atmosphere. When my boyfriend and I have come in before, the waitresses know us by sight. Their omelets are by far the best thing on the menu (only been here for breakfast thus far) and their home fries are the best I've had anywhere. I love how they put the onions in with them. Yum! My only complaint would have to be the pancakes; I've ordered them before and they're always really heavy. I like my pancakes to be light and fluffy. As an added bonus, they are also REALLY cheap. I love their Beans N Eggs breakfast. Can't find it anywhere else, and just how I like it. I have stopped in here for a quickie lunch at the bar. Big screen tv for entertainment. Yay! Mr. Man enjoys the whole she-bang. Eggs, pancakes, etc. It is a little more pricey than Pleasant View, the decor is newer, and it is closer to home. Note: Something was wrong with their coffee last time I was here. Instant nausea. I have no idea what it was. I also had an issue with a soda I had ordered, it had a funky smell to it. Might just be me, it was cold season at the time. I have eaten here 4-5 times, so this isn't a one shot review. A few friends & I went here for breakfast before work (6:00)am We loved it! the waitress knew we kinda had to be in & out fast. she took great care of us, the food came out fast & just right ( usually fast means half-assed). I got the homemade hash & eggs. really homemade not homemade from a can like some places try to pull off. The prices were very reasonable & everyone was friendly. I say that because some mom & pop restaurants you go in and the regulars can make you feel uncomfortable. Not here! Everyone was nice Overall we were all pleased with our food! This is my go-to breakfast spot. The food is consistently good, the staff is great company while you sit at the breakfast bar, and I've never left here hungry or disappointed. Only reason I took away one star is for the sausage links, which I don't recommend. Try the patties instead - amazing. Fresh eggs, crispy home fries, and super cheap. Love this place! read more
