Haven't been here in a long time and it has slipped a bit. Now right up front I have to say the food was good ... as good as it always has been. So that part didn't slip. But the cleanliness in the little dining room has. The tabletops were sticky, and the floor was sticky ... every time you picked your foot up you'd hear it make a little sucking sound. The garbage can in the room was also very dirty ... push the opening to place your garbage in there and you see the crusties on the lip. Service was nice, but they have a rough place to work. The windows could have used a little Windex. And as an aside, the windows are so dark you never know if the store is open or closed when you drive by. So in sum ... they lose a star. I can't even count how many times I have been here. But I do know how many times I have actually eaten there. The place is usually closed. They have odd hours and don't even follow those. Its under new ownership but without change or improvement. What fast food place closes at 4:00 PM on Saturday? Before the dinner hour? Anyhow. their hot dogs are OK. But up the street there is a better place with lower prices. So it a no here for dogs. I will try a few other menu items if I can ever catch them when they are actually open. read more

I wanted a gyro sandwich but was told they had no gyro's when I went here, so I ended up just ordering a 10 piece chicken nugget with honey mustard, regular fry, and regular drink, the total price for this basic meal? $15.14! I feel that's very steep for a basic fast food meal. Then when I went to fill my drink no ice came out of the dispenser, the worker had to come and unclog the machine for it to work, then I went to get ketchup, the ketchup dispenser is messed up so I had to ask the cook to put ketchup in a cup for me, then I get told more bad news... No honey mustard for $15.14 this is a whole lot of stuff going wrong lol.. The floor were so sticky it was making a stuck noise every-time I'd lift my feet. The chicken nuggets were pretty hard, the chicken inside was very hard also, the breading tasted a little fishy maybe it was cooked in the same oil as the shrimp/fish? Last two visits I ordered cheese dogs. Honestly thought they forgot the cheese. I didn't see it nor taste it. Grilled chicken sandwich was ok. Jurrito crunch wasn't great. Chips tasted stale and had way to much onion. Last visit I ordered using their online system. 2 cheese dogs. Got home only had one. Called to let them know. I could come back to get it but food would then be cold. Spoke to a "manager" and he said he would give me a free one next visit. Well I already paid for one I didn't get. So I said that. So sad to be posting this review since I've been coming to Don's since I've been 9 years old, over 20 years ago. The past two times I've been in there, the guy at the register (John might be his name?) has been completely disgusting and inappropriate. First time he called me sexy multiple times before taking my order and then wouldn't stop making stupid jokes. The second time I came in he yelled "WHAT DO YOU WANT? I have a bunch of angry women in here", then after I ordered made an extremely unprofessional joke about being a p*rn star and then was shouting to other customers asking what their occupations were. He is beyond creepy and unfortunately that was my last time stepping in that building and giving them my business. Customers (especially women not wanting to be harassed), stay FAR AWAY. read more

One of the better Italian beef samich's around. Lean, thin sliced, and well seasoned beef, very good au-jus, red sauce, giardiniera, and great bread. So good. Also, I much prefer these hot dogs at Don's, which use a custom blend of hot dog meat, and not Vienna. read more

Just visited Don's 6/13/24 at 11:50 am. It must be a new owner because the quality is non-existent. The man running the register was very short and rude with the two customers in front of me. He was having difficulty running the register and would yell at them if they went too fast. When it was my turn, the register went down and had to be rebooted. We sat there for about 5 - 10 minutes when he decided to take my order the old-fashioned way, on a paper ticket. I ordered a beef with Mozzzerella and a small fry. He yelled at me to slow down, I was going too fast. I gave him nine singles. He never gave me a copy of the ticket. I stepped back and began to wait. As I was wondering around waiting for my food, my feet kept sticking to the tile floors. The carpeted matts were even worse, just covered in sicky soda that had been spilled. It had to be a long time since they had been washed. I was waiting with the two people in front of me and then about six people that came in after me. As the orders were filled, he would yell out the ticket number, but he did not hand out the tickets. He had to say what the orders were in order for the people to claim them. After about 20 - 25 minutes, most of the people in front of me and behind me received their food. I was starting to get annoyed when the people behind me were getting their food, and then a man who came in about ten minutes after me received a beef sandwich. That was the last straw. I told them to keep my beef sandwich and walked out. They can keep the nine dollars, they are going to need it. I used to love this place. Warning if you are paying cash the owner will not give you the change back and he throws it in the tip car and goes thanks for the tip, I looked at him strangely and he says oh do you want it back, I laughed and said no it's fine, But him automatically doing this is not right. If I want to tip at a fast food restaurant I will but do not take my money automatically. Also I watched him while I was eating he did this to everyone that paid cash, He also was ringing up other peoples order and ringing up more expensive items and they were going back up to get their money back . First time here since moving to the area five years ago. No complaints about the food it was very good. A little expensive but tasted very good. But the restaurant area and restrooms were not clean, and that is putting it mildly. Not sure it won't be another five years before stopping here again. read more

We drove 25 minutes to get an Italian sausage sandwich and when we arrived back home ready to eat, the order was wrong. We called expecting an apology and to be compensated for their mistake, ex. A free Italian sausage for the next visit. Instead, the lady was rude and said all she would do is exchange it. Do not purchase gift certificates from them. I gave someone gift certificates, they did not use the full amount and had $2.00 left on the certificate. It is Don's "policy " not to give credit or change for gift certificates. I disagree with their business policy. Just don't give out the extra $5 when you purchase $25. Stopped in over the weekend. Very clean and family friendly. Had the hot dog special (mustard, relish, onions, celery salt). Twice in the last month we have tried to go around 7:20-7:30pm, and the doors were already locked with all the lights off and people in the back of the kitchen. If the hours say 8pm on the door, you'd expect the place to be open over a half hour before close. The food is always good, but service has not been great. Incredible food! I love going to Don's, but the only concern I have is the posted hours. I pulled up at 7:31 one evening with a huge craving for a cheese dog and fries only to find the doors locked with the staff cleaning up inside. My expectation is when the hours on the door say 8pm they mean 8:00pm, not 7:31 or 7:40. This has happen to me at least 4 times due to my late work hours. That same night at least 3 more cars pulled up only to find what I already experienced. Please re-post the correct hour of operation, very frustrating. I'm in the area for work training and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the maxwell polish $3.39 and the hamburger special $3.99 on Tuesdays only. Price was great, good was good. Service was just alright. Greeted by a late teenage girl leaning over the counter and a tall awkward boy staring at you like a deer in headlights. I didn't feel very comfortable. A lot of awkward staring was going on. Maybe because I was the only African American there. My guess is that they may not have too many ethic customers. Because of this I probably won't return. I don't like or appreciate being stared at by customers and workers alike while trying to eat lunch. I also noticed that a lot of people got "thank you" and "Happy New Year" but I didn't...kinda made me think a little. Oh well. Hopefully the next hole in the wall is more diverse. read more

Been coming here on and off for a very long time and this place is fantastic! I always get their all beef dogs Chicago style, but can't go wrong getting the chili cheese dog either! The beef sandwiches are delicious too very tender and flavorful. I drive about 20 mins to eat here, and it has been worth the trip every single time. The staff is very impressive as well, seems to be high school kids, but are always very polite and professional. I never order chili anywhere (seriously), but if we go to Don's (as we have for almost 25 years), I always get a large chili with cheese, onions, and cucumbers and 2 large fries to be dunked in said chili.
