I am so happy to have found an alternative to Portillos and Joey's Red Hots. As both of them are getting old to me and losing their customer focus. Lucky Hot Dog has their act together. They pack their dogs in a solid styrofoam box so the dog bun doesn't get crushed as they do at the aforementioned locations. They do have a confusing twist on their menu. If you want a Chicago Style Hot Dog then you should order the Lucky Dog as that is what a Chicago Style Dog is. I made the mistake of ordering a Chigago Style Dog and got something else. I have always ate my food thru the drive in but yesterday I went inside and had lunch with my daughter and my 2 year old granddaughter. At first they did NOT have a high chair or a booster for her to sit in. The hot dogs buns were over soft. and the quality has gone down on a BASIC HOT DOG. But then I had to use the rest room and went inside and there was lots of water on the floor by the toilet. There was NO HAND SOAP or PAPER TOWELS and the lid from the toilet was OFF and there was plastic wrap on top of it. IT WAS DISGUSTING. I told the girl at the front I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN ! First the good. Service was good and interior was clean. I ordered 1 hotdog with everything and cheese dog with everything. The good news they got the order correct. When I got home two issues. First, the bun for both were wet and falling apart. Either left in steamer too long or last buns in steamer and they were on the bottom and soaked up water. Either way it ruined the dogs. Second the dogs were warm on the outside and cool on the interior. Nothing worse than cold hotdogs on soggy bun. Finally, this is a ballpark frank. Meaning it had little or no flavor and was skinless. So no bite to the dog and just no flavor. Just not a great hotdog experience. This seems to be standard and it's been soggy or stale bun, cold or limp dog, and nasty tomatoes and pickles. The last three times it's been like this. I want to like this place. It's close to home and it's local. But too many other average dogs around to put up with wet cold and devoid of flavor hot dogs. read more

Three teenagers were standing around and they still managed to screw up my order and only gave me one order of fries when I asked for two. Second time I went through the drive-thru and after waiting for 15 minutes and being asked to pull up the lady brought out my order and they once again only gave me one order of fries when I asked for two. When I told the lady this was the second time this has happened she just turned and walked away. I would give the food about 3 stars and the service one star which averages out to two stars. They've been open for a couple weeks now and still don't have a speaker in the drive-thru so you have to pull up to the window. The food takes too long to prepare and a simple burger and beef with fries order took over 15 minutes when they weren't that busy. I don't have high expectations for fast food as it is, but these mom and pop places are going to find out that you can't get away with poor service anymore with social media and all the choices that are available.
