Chicken on a gluten free pita

Pluto's was a great place to dine. The staff was friendly and informative, the decor was charmingly space themed, and the food was really good. We had a tamale which unfortunately was dry and the low light of our food. Their hot dogs are award winning in Chicago, didn't disappoint, but it is not a must have if you need to travel far south for it. The gyro plate was fantastic. The tsatski sauce was a little thin, but full of flavor, and we built 2 humongous gyros with all of the meat and extra pita. While the inclusion of lettuce was odd, the inclusion of feta cheese was great. The chicken sandwich was the star of the show as it appears fresh breaded and has robust flavor along with its juicy inside! We also tried their triple burger which was fantastic, steaming hot, and on a real good gluten free bun . Speaking of gluten free, they have a robust gluten free menu and take it very serious as the owner's son has gluten issue. All in all Pluto's is a fantastic treat from top to bottom. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this local establishment's gems!

The food is amazing way better than most gyro places great amount served. The service was great the inside I was taken back how amazing the inside love how they have a kids library, , little play area and had books at the table. The kids meal bags were even more amazing. They had little facts on them about area 51.

I have eaten at Pluto's from time to time ever since they opened, and today was the first time I actually sat down inside the place. I swear the experience was so good I had to write about it! First, the gentleman at the register (owner, perhaps?) told us he was filling in for someone who had called off, and he was remembering what to do at the register. No problem...he was doing a great job. So once my family and I ordered, we found a booth by the window and they brought our food out to us. The same guy who was at the register brought everything out, and let me say that I love when restaurants are passionate about their food. He clearly enjoyed letting is know that the Italian beef is fresh, as was the pulled pork I had. He also let us know the chili is homemade, and it clearly tasted wonderful. Let me tell you...when someone is this passionate and clearly enjoys serving people his/her food, that makes the experience all that more enjoyable. You want to know how good the chili was? My 82-year-old mother-in-law gave it her stamp of approval...and it takes a lot for her to show people love when it comes to food! Anyhow, my wife and I split the chili cheese fries, I had the BBQ pulled pork with bacon, my sister-in-law and my wife both had a burger with mustard and raw onions, and my mother-in-law had the Italian beef/sausage combo with giardinera and chili. The food was awesome!!! You know when food is so good that you have to do that thing where you let your stomach relax and expand? That was us today. One more thing, though I do not know the aforementioned gentleman's name, his passion for his food really made me take notice. I know thst some people have said in their reviews of Pluto's that the food is expensive...but I would argue that the food is excellent and the customer service was even better. Thus, I have no problem paying a little more for great food and great service. Thus, my ratings: Food................................................A+ Ambiance.......................................B Price................................................B Customer Service..........................A+

Gyro with onions on gluten free pita bread with rice

I visit Pluto's quite often when I am in the Oak Lawn area. I love that they have the 3 options of walk in, dine in and/or drive thru. No matter your order option, the food is always served fast, hot, fresh and tasty. I have enjoyed the polish sausage with mustard and onions that is a Chicago classic and Pluto's gets it right. Delish. The 21 shrimp basket is also delish. The fries always taste great. They are served with seasoning salt, which is good, but if you're not a fan, make sure you ask for no salt when ordering. Since I recently developed a gluten intolerance, I was bummed out thinking I'd never get to eat at Pluto's again. To my surprise driving by, I saw the most beautiful words displayed on the restaurant's sign that said "try our gluten free pita bread"!!! Thank goodness!!! I enjoyed the gyro and the pita bread is delish! Tastes no different than regular pita bread. Since I am a rice lover, I also enjoyed the rice pilaf as a side and also poured it all over the gyro. DELISH!!! Thank you Pluto's for having gluten free options!! I will continue to be a loyal patron here.

The fish sandwich was so good. The fries were good. Just have to ask for light seasoning on the fries.

The prices are very reasonable. They also carry Boba for those of you whom enjoy that. I ordered a Chicago dog, a chili boat (chili with a Chicago style Tom Tom Tamale) and a peach lemonade. My total was around $12 which isn't bad at all very reasonable!!!! The guy behind the counter was very nice and got my food together extremely fast! The Chicago dog reminded me of when I was little. It was a place by the university of Chicago that sold Chicago dogs. It was really good and brought back that taste of nostalgia. The chili boat was delicious as well. It reminded me of Moo and Oink's chili that they use to carry back in the 90's! It was delicious!! The peach lemonade was only three dollars and it was about 12 ounces. It was a good decent lemonade the kind that you would get at a car carnival it didn't have a aftertaste or anything. They had different flavors and I would order it again. I'm gonna go back to try moooreeee! *** this place will put Ketchup on your hot dog if you like. They don't carry fries, but they have a Chicago staple, Vitner chips. If you want sport peppers on your hotdog, you have to ask and it's cash only!!!!

The new owners kept the concept in the small space with upgrades to the outside façade. From reading other reviews, everything from the quality and the service is just as good over all the years. It's hotdogs and they do it well. I'm sure I'll be back to get a "super fat one" (big 1/4lb chili cheese dog) and a Chicago dog again, they were both great. The only issue I have is that it is on a busy section of Western, so depending on which direction you're coming or going from it's harder to get a spot to park or park and walk across the street safely (probably why I don't go more). Great place to get a taste of a Chicago dog. If you're in the area you shouldn't be disappointed in stumbling across it.

The layout is awkward, traffic backs up fast, and it just does not seem designed well for the amount of cars coming through. For a place that does a lot of takeout, that part of the experience really matters. If you are stopping by, be prepared for a frustrating parking situation before you even get your food.

Good food, incredibly slow service…read more I haven't had Portillo's in a long time but I was looking forward to it. It was cold and snowy, huge drive-thru line so I made the effort to come inside. I ordered at the kiosk and waited almost 15 minutes for my food while it was completely empty. In that time, they called out four orders, the rest were pick-up and drive-thru. My question is why do people in person have to still wait in the drive-thru line for their food? We should have our own line of however many people, not just one big pile of orders. Have one person working on the dine-in orders, and the other on the drive-thru orders. Both get served equally fast. Anyway, that was my only gripe. The food was great as always, like I remember. I got a beef dip and hot dog. The hot dog was significantly better than I remember, but last time I came to Portillo's, it was the downtown location and the hot dog was like mush. This one was snappy like Vienna Beef but I don't think they use Vienna Beef. They just have got to fix the wait times for dine-in orders, especially if people are going there on a lunch break and have to sit there waiting forever.

Food is fantastic. Price is high. Service from Nick (owner) was TERRIBLE…read more I was a long-time (20+ yr), loyal customer up til I was yelled at by Nick because I spoke up about consistently receiving orders much later than promised via online orders. I had placed many online orders for pick-up on my 30min lunch break, to ensure I had proper time to drive to, pick up my food, and quickly drive back from the restaurant. After a few pick-ups took around 20mins after promised time, I was pretty upset. I was told they only start making food once the person is there to pick it up, so I asked what's the point of placing an order online and receiving a pick-up time, when the food only starts to get made once you're at the restaurant to pick up? That's when the owner stepped in (My family and I have had many pleasant convos with him before at the old location), turned red, bunched up his face, and legit yelled at me "What do you expect? Do you want your fries to be cold or do you want them fresh?" (I was taken aback, and responded "I expect my order to be ready at the time indicated"). He told me I could go elsewhere. I get it. I was receiving consistently poor service and was upset when I asked the cashier about timing, so he stepped in to defend his worker. What I don't get is how you can tell a customer to go somewhere else when they're expecting their food at the time promised (or at least within 5 mins...I'm not THAT picky). Perhaps my expectations are too high?
